Holy crap, I've never bought a high end card before and tonight I decided to replace my GTX 560 with a 1080 TI FTW3 hybrid only to find essentially the entire EVGA line essentially unavailable at retail prices.  And it looks like I missed the restock of that card by 30 minutes which is apparently way too long by current market standards.  Will more cards be added to stock tomorrow or am I stuck waiting until Monday for restock?

Darn email client didn’t notify me when EVGA sent the email. Wish me luck for next week!

Why did the price of the 1070ti FTW2 go up? It's now the same price as the 1080 Gaming.

The question I have is why doesn’t EVGA reward their loyal supporters by allowing us to pre-order the card we want. I can’t sit at my computer all day waiting to get an email notice so I can try to order a card before they sell out. The last two notices I received were just before midnight. I’m usually sleeping then.

I’m willing to pre-pay and wait for EVGA to notify me when they are shipping my card.

Guys during the last inventory restock. I bought this.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti SC Black Edition GAMING, 11G-P4-6393-KR, 11GB GDDR5X, iCX Cooler & LED
Item #: 11G-P4-6393-KR ($769.99 each)

I actually wanted an ftw3 hybrid which inventory went up for like 10 minutes later. So I ordered an ftw3, I have no need for the SC. So if anyone needs a card PM me your email address, I haven’t been on the forums long enough to be able to send messages via PM but I can receive them. I will be happy to sell it for what I paid for it plus shipping. Not trying to get rich just want to get my money back for the card.

Jacob if this kind of post is not allowed please delete it. I just figured I would offer the card up to the guys like me on here who have been waiting a while to get their hands on one.

I had done the same thing but I was able to cancel my order in time and order the FTW3. Is it possible for you to still cancel your order? Hopefully being Saturday it hasn't shipped yet. Just a thought.

I tried that as well. I got the shipping notification today. I emailed in asking to cancel but I’m guessing with how busy things have been they never got to it in time.

First come first serve. It’d be wrong to let someone pay more to cut ahead. That’s equal to saying you agree with pay to win games, you’ll pay more to get ahead of everyone else.

I'm not saying pay more, just pay the price as listed on the site and then get in line just like pre-orders on new games.

Won’t happen, not how the market works. I’d be surprised if EVGA even did this. You’d just have to drink energy drinks the night you know they are getting stock (I know that amazon will be getting stock in March) and evga gets more stock on this coming Thursday again and possibly carrying over to Friday if your lucky. Just drink energy drinks and wait up and try to get lucky

Hopefully the ETH mining will stop being a thing for GPU's when the big mining changes come in the near future.  For those saying 1080TI's are not used for mining that is simply not true.  I personally know of people with multiple 1080TI SLI rigs mining ETH.  I feel for EVGA on this, how do you provide product for your loyal gaming customers over the new group of customers willing to bleed the marketplace dry for $30/mo?  I can only assume EVGA is manufacturing at capacity currently, I'm a loyal customer BECAUSE they have always been above board and service oriented (of course the cards kick ass too).

Re: GTX 1080/TI stock ETA? 2018/01/21 11:39:59 (permalink)
Anyone mining ETH with 1080 ti cards is wasting the card - there are a lot of better algorithms to use them one.
Anyone mining with a SLI rig is a total moron - SLI causes poor perfromance in mining.

I'm not saying nobody mines on them - just that they are FAR from a "first choice" for miners in general, at best perhaps the 3'd most common option on the Nvidia side and possibly 4'th - which would put them somewhere around 8'th or 9'th on current cards, behind the AMD RX 570 RX580 RX470 RX 480 Vega then the NVidia 1060 1070 and possibly the 1070 ti.
Vega might actually be #1 due to it's crazy-good Cryptonight performance.
I suspect 1080 ti being sold out is more of a "gamers can't get anything less, might as well go with the best" coupled with LOW production issue.

*FOLDERS* like the 1080 ti, but that's a few thousand cards AT MOST for all of them combined - drop in the bucket.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

I'm pretty bummed about the lack of stock as well. I bought a new monitor(34" 3440x1440) and now that I need/want an upgrade, the cards are no where to be found. I am not buying from a 3rd party because I'll be in the same boat I am now with my second hand card with no warranty and no step up etc.

I'm guessing you never mined before? You can't SLI Mine anyways lol. It doesn't matter if its enabled or not, the clients don't care and it recognizes each card like it would disabled.

Also most pools have auto-exchanges so it doesn't matter what you mine, I will be converted into what you want. Mine the most profitable for NVIDIA and auto convert it into ETH.

Bought a titan xp since its cheaper then the 1080ti resellers. Plus i get an EVGA email on stock to only find out its sold out in 2 minutes. Last time i was on a walk and could not even complete the check out. Nvidia site has titans. Might as well get the full gpu, water it down and use a custon bios. Ive had evga cards since they started making them since i too live in the oc.

I don't know if Scan ship worldwide, or maybe just the EU. They have the EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 in stock. Funny thing is, the price has increased since I checked last week. The SC2 and Kingpin is also in stock for those interested. The Kingpin is only £50 more than the FT3/SC2 too.

Is the stock situation ever going to normalize? I have to build a pc for a friend, and need just one videocard for this, but literally EVGA never has any in stock. At least, never when I check.

I'm not even gonna go SLI, I need just one 1080 or 1080TI. Omg I can't believe this

It'll normalize, just not right now.  Mining has demand high, but with Volta this year there should be a lull during the transition to new cards at least.

another part of the issue folks have been ignoring is that the "current node" production lines at TSMC and GF (and probably Samsung as well) have been running flat out for as long as they've been up.
There isn't spare CAPACITY at the foundry level to handle making enough GPU chips (which are HUGE) to handle sudden demand spikes, or to handle the demand at ALL when it grows enough.

It was VERY noticed when AMD did it's last "foundry contract adjustment" with GF that they were willing to pay to use capacity OUTSIDE OF GF at a rather steep price "if needed".

This issue has been affecting miners for almost 2 years, as the demand for ASIC miners to mine what few algorithms/coins that CAN be mined by ASIC has greatly exceeded the available chipmaking supply those manufacturers have access to for most of those algorithms.

No.

Just no.

The capacity is there to produce more. They’re not ordering larger batches for a reason.

Worst time to buy video cards that I have ever seen. Volta launch won't be any better since it will take time for the market to equalize. Prices will be sky high on them too. Probably scare off most gamers
