sebianoti After a month of using the RMA'd 1080 FTW that supposedly fixes this issue I started getting the same problem, was playing Battlefield 1 and all of the sudden screen turned black, keyboard RGB Backlight animation froze and fans started spinning at 100%...
Having exactly the same issues. Can play bf1 multiplayer for few hours, but then i decided to play some single player - the flying mission - and after first few 5 to 10 mins bamm my second (few days old second card in sli, first is almost 3 months old) card just goes to blackscreen with 100% fans and i need to powercycle. Kinda funny. So looks like it might not be a hw issue with bf1 rather then some software/driver crap. So i guess no SP only hours of MP since this issue has happened only in bf1 SP for me. Played like 2 hours of gta V with both gpus at 98-99% ussage, tried hour of haven 4.0 and even 1-2 hours of Rocket league and so far bf1 SP is the only trouble maker so will just hang back and see how it goes before doing some crazy RMA stuff etc. since the warranty is for 3 years. :)

sebianoti My RMA card was shipped on September 9th. I'm not going to post my full serial, how do I find out what factory produced it?
It's the fourth and fifth digit, i.e. 161 96 is mine so that's from Factory 96. The last four digits are the serial. My defective card was from Factory 25.

Daz1967 My replacement card was just delivered by UPS about 20 minutes ago so I am very much looking forward to putting this one through its paces and finding out if it really is free of the black screen issue (after reading the posts on here I am less than hopeful). Wish me luck... I also need to send the original one back as quickly as possible so I can get my collateral payment refunded.
Mine is also at home, but I'm at work so it will have to wait :(

It's the two numbers after 161 at the beginning of the serial.
It's 08

Worrying... There is a black screen issue with NVIDIA cards apparently in Windows 10 Anniversary Update (v1607) as linked to on the GeForce.com forum in one of my earlier posts but I'll repost it here as well: https://forums.geforce.co...ack-screens-nvlddmkm-/ This issue has the same blank screen and display driver crash as the issue we are having with the only difference being that the fans on the graphics card do not ramp up to 100%. Are you using the default fan profile (which is off until the GPU reaches 65 C) or are you using a custom fan profile? If it's the former then have you tried using a custom fan profile to see if it resolves the issue?

Using the default fan profile. The funny thing is when the BS+100% happened my gpu usage on both was like 60-65% and temp were in 65-66 degrees? But like i said so far i had the issue in the SP. Othervise i am at 15+ hours mostly in MP (64 man conquest and operations). So its kinda weird. Will have to try some other games like Guild Wars 2 and Total Warhammer over the weekend to check if it can happen outside of bf1 SP. For now i didn't bothered with default fan profile since the highest temp i saw on my top gpu is 82 degrees with the both gpus settling around 1911 - 1936 mhz which if think is absolutely fine for me and i guess even for both gpus since it run absolutely fine throw 2 hours of gta V with every crap maxxed out even AA on 5760x1080. :)

This might be why none of the professional reviews picked up on this issue if it is something that happens after weeks of owning the card? In my case, I did not really see a black screen issue until two months after installing the card is August.

I wasn't going to buy Battlefield 1 until later on but I've just bought it to see if I can replicate the same black screen issue in single player on my new card since it seems to have triggered the issue for two people on here. Sorry for asking but if you have two cards then how do you know which one is causing the black screen? Could it be the one that is three months old that is causing it and the new one is actually fine? Have you tested both separately with Battlefield 1 with only one card installed?

When it happened just opened the side panel and i was able notice nicely that the top gpu fans were barely spinning and the bottom ones where spinning like crazy. I mean if it get worse then i will probably get in touch with EvgaEU and do the whole RMA thing or maybe i will just take the gpu back to the local reseller where i bought it and get a new one will see (but this option might be tricky since he might have few bad one on stock for now). And the older gpu is 3 months old so it has quite a lot of gaming hours on the bucket without any issues. No need to rush with RMA atm.

You could have just bought Origin Access, that would give you 10 hours of Battlefield 1 and 10% off Battlefield 1 if you decided to purchase it.

To be honest, I still have a week of Origin Access left from the month I subscribed to a few weeks ago (to play FIFA 17 early) which I then cancelled. Still, I was planning to buy the game at some point and paid £37 from it from CDKeys so that is still cheaper than what EA are asking for it even with the 10% discount (£49.99 less £5 is £44.99).

Well that doesn't sound so nice. Will have to keep an eye on that gpu. Just checked the serial and it seems it's from factory 25 (16125) and on the end its 4418 so that doesn't make things easier. If it gets worse then well good that i have two so i can send one to RMA and still keep playing on the one. :)

Fair enough, I ordered BF1 from CDKeys when they had a 10% off code and it was £30, cost me £27, but used Origin Access I had for the 10 hour trial to get a discount on the season pass.

Hi guys... Just thought I'd say I also got the same problem some days ago... Haven't really tested out card much yet (except from some crysis 3 which worked totally fine), but when bf1 came out I was in line to play... Got black screens and fans up to max after about 1,5 hours of gameplay. First time that ever happened to me. Now, I've had it about 7-8 times since without playing bf1 (wanted to fix the issue before I continued and been very busy with school). Just tried setting the card in an other slot... hope that solves the problem. If not.. I'll come back here EDIT: card serial is 16125... so factory 25 I guess

Hello guys! I needed go back here to say it, i solved my problem removing the extension sleeved cables. I have the bitfenix alchemy sleeved cables, when i remove them the problem has gone, but the coil whine still persists. Now i am using the original cables from my psu.

RMA I received today working fine so far. Other card definitely would have blackscreened after a couple hours of BF1.

Hey guys, you who recieved the card from EVGA RMA. I have question to you, does your card have coil whine issiue? I have 2nd card and both have the black screen problem and pretty noisy coil whine. First I returned to the seller and get this seccond. The black screen problem is still present but not as much on the 1st card. With 1st card I had instant freeze in Crysis every time in 1st mission after fell into water. With the second card I am getting freezes at 3rd savepoint I think, at the GPS jammer. I think the crashes mostly occurs in scenes with watter.

Are you use original cables? Use anyone extension cable? If yes, try to remove...

I RMA'd my GTX1080 FTW recently after I got hard crashes in game. My new card doesn't have noticeable coil whine, at least not yet. My original card had very minimal coil whine, I had to put my ear right up to the computer with sound on mute to hear it. Hopefully EVGA addresses this problem with a real fix. I can't imagine they will want to continually replace cards for the next 3 years of warranty.

alright, I played the single player of Battlefield 1 for about little over an hour or so, my card didn't crap out on me. of course this card is my first RMA'ed card with serial begins in 16125. my room temp is around 30C (Southern California) and my card didn't exceed 70C. I'm hoping hydro copper for FTW is available so I can slap that block to reduce some more heat. so far my luck isn't running out. I'll do some more playing time tomorrow, straight 2 hours or so if my card lets me. I noticed you guys are having issue after 1.5 hours of playing, was it factory 25 that was releasing bad batches the most than others?

My original 1070 FTW that I shipped yesterday for RMA was 16108. It had coil whine but no issue with anything else but I didn't try it with battlefield

Welp got my second card in, whats the deal with different packaging? One of my cards was packaged in foam with a piece that was cut and said EVGA other just plain foam piece up top and plastic in the bottom. One card is labeled Packaged in the USA other is marked Made in china. Don't like that both cards are packaged different, Also EVGA Precision is showing my main card as GPU2 I can't get it to show it as GPU1. Is this a common issue.

It's called a warranty. If it makes you feel better, call them up and complain, better yet, submit an RMA for the poor job of them shipping you the items.

MY issue is with all the FTW black screen/fan issues and no response from EVGA to what causes it or what cards are or are not fixed. If you would read my other post these cards going under water don't wanna deal with having to undo it all. Just a little odd a few of the parts on the top of the board you can see thru the backplate have different numbers on them. Packaging is totally different and so is the label on the back of the box that has the bar code and information.

Sorry, didn't mean to be so sarcastic, i couldn't resist . Mostly I think it just helps on reducing cost for both parties (you and EVGA). I do like to get the new shiny box myself, but that still costs money, ink, etc. You shouldnt have any troubles with your 2 cards. If you have a concern, just give them a call, they're 24/7. Who knows, if they have to give the new shiny box to everybody, they might have to increase costs on shipping. We don't want that.

Well, this was fortunate for me, reading this thread. Decided to get a built system to replace my 7 year old desktop. Was running surprisingly well with my EVGA 780Ti Classified Kingpin, but the rest of the old technology was wearing on me. So of course I had an EVGA 1080 FTW on the build order. Until this morning, anyway. Changed it for another brand. Pity, because I've been using EVGA products for a long time. People buy these kinds of cards to have fun with and play games (or at least I do), NOT do troubleshooting and pop a few Excedrin every time a problem shows up. And certainly not to play RMA marathon games. Maybe some people enjoy being unpaid beta testers, but I sure don't. So I am voting with my wallet, EVGA. If you want my business, then earn it with quality products that I can use in my leisure time. I certainly do not need the headaches of faulty designs. So stop treating your customers like mushrooms and FIX the problems.
