Boogur Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. My RMA card tested okay for about a day then just now playing Gears of War the same problem happen again. Black screen, fan spins up to 100%. Is it possible to get a refund? I don't want to keep playing the RMA game. For reference, I had a Titan X Pascal for two weeks before returning it. That card had zero issues.
This is a rma'ed card after August 31st??
Yep.

Not good.. I'm again testing both cards. One last final test of the good card it seems as I don't think it's happend to this one. I've had the black screen atleast 2 times and it was prob while testing rhe other card the first time around.
Anyways.. I'm gona be testing that one tonight once I swap these ftw hybrids.

So i just tested with Witcher 3 on my replacement FTW from Amazon, and within 10 mins , I get crash to black screen with 100% fans. Happened twice in two attempts. Happens both at stock speeds as well as slight OC. At this point, I'm seriously considering just returning this for good to Amazon.

I may be having this same problem in GTA 5. EVGA why?? This is very disappointing!!! Making lose faith in you guys. I think I would much rather try a different vendor than go through this headache. It seems maybe we should get free upgrades to classified vesrions if they are not having the issue. I was able to not have to hard reboot, somehow the nvidia driver disappeared buy pressing multiple keys on keyboard. I then rebooted my pc. I'm POd actually!!

That's exactly what I did. After my first bad card if I would have just exchanged it or RMA'd made it I would have been on my third bad card right now. Instead I just got a MSI card and I'm thrilled with it. Not only is it overclockable to the same speeds as the FTW but it runs much much cooler. I never seen the card go over 75 C no matter what I overclock it to or throw a it.

I would do this without hesitation but am in a bit of a sticky situation as my case is the SG13 and I only have about 10.5 inches GPU length to play with. EVGA seems to be the only one serving this form factor with (in theory) strong open air cards. I really don't want to go with blower style due to noise, but am seriously considering going with a founder's 1080 or Titan XP now. This is highly unfortunate.

I would definitely call newegg. I got a defective EVGA FTW card and newegg was nice enough to give me store credit. So thankfully I didn't get another EVGA FTW or I would have had to return it again. But instead I got an MSI card that performs perfectly.

Yup as expected. My first card of 2 hybrids is the one that's doing the black screens. I've been testing ea card some as I've been in a long process of backing up the system to prepare for the full upgrade of the pc.. been like a 2 month process of back and forth changing my mind on this and that. Finally when I thought I had it all figured out on what I was going to finalize it now I'm back to the main issue with the graphics card! What to do.. Anyways, I managed to do 2 full stress tests of firestrike extreme on the first card and no problems. Runing an overclock slightly below 2088.. like 2064mhz it settled at and +420 on the mem. Then cause lots of people were stating it can happen pretty quick on Witcher 3 I loaded it up.. played for prob over 20-30 mins and bam!! Hit the reset and the screen stayed black and fan noise keep going mean while it looked like Windows was rebooting cause I could see the hdd access led doing its thing. So I had to turn it off fully to fix it. Next boot was odd. It was all really leggy. Windows file Explorer took forever to load whatever folder I was trying to open. Menus did not work. A reboot did not fix it. I remember the same issue when I installed the windows anniversary update the other night. Was all laggy and Explorer and memusic when you would launch a program would not work. Was fine once I installed the newest Nvidia drivers.. Later on tonight I discovered that I needed to lower the screen res down from 1440. Once I did that I could read the menus and no more lag. So that's strange?? Vram issue with the card? I wish I would of tested Witcher 3 with the 2nd card that I think is fine. I'd go grab 2 classified card real quick if I thought they would run fine together. I believe the first one will cook at like 70-82 just like the 2 zotac 1080 amp! Edition cards. Fe blower card worked fine together with 1 slot spacing as long as you can handle the loud fans. Mind you my kids are away for the weekend and I was supposed to upgrade the rig finally starting yesterday! Going with: Asus maximus hero VII alpha I7 6700k water cooled 16gb g.skill 3600 15,15,15 ddr4 Samsung 950 pro m.2 512gb ssd Samsung evo 500gb ssd for most games Evga 1080 ftw hybrid sli Updating the water cooling as well from a custom loop with a 240 rad to a ek 360 rad and pump/res combo and new ek cpu block with push pull fans. And build my son his own rig out of my current rig with my 980 sli and 4790k. Finally play together online!

It is disappointing if the RMAed card crashes again. It contradicts to what the forum tech talked about.
I think I should contact to Amazon as well just in case my RMAed card may be defective as well. Evga tw just received my card in last Friday morning through their suggested courier service (I sent the card out in Monday evening) and they didn't have time to test my card and not even ship out replacement. It is going to take a week and a half for completing this RMA process (I expect replacement card back to me in next week). All this turnaround time is slower than Amazon sending a replacement card or refund.

It does contradict what they said, but I just got a reply back from support about my 2nd card they sent me after stating the prob had been fixed: "Can you please provide us with some photos of the cards, specifically the pcb side and the top edge (side with power connectors+SLI fingers) so we can verify that this card is an updated card? I apologize that this issue is persistent, however we would like to make sure that this issue is not related to the resolution that was mentioned in Jacob's forum post as this problem should be corrected on any of the cards that we are sending out. If this is not the case, and a faulty card has managed to slip through somehow we will need to proceed accordingly in order to provide you with another replacement." I remember reading that other users said their new fixed cards they got sent from Evga had a lower clock speed. The one I got sent (arrived 8th Sep) had the same speed as my previous card that black screened. So I was prob given one of the older cards that managed to slip through somehow. I uploaded the photos, just waiting for a reply.

Exactly what I did about a month ago.....RMA to Newegg though at that time due to quantities they refunded me though not sure how they're handling the RMA's now. Went with a different brand and have been issue free folding proteins 24/7 ever since.....no looking back for me.....Newegg came through making the overall experience as painless as possible rather than dreadful.

Hi, I ll get my RMA card tomorrow, I ll check if there is any visual change in the area of the power connectors + Sli vs the defective card. What I would like to know is : Guys having bad RMA cards, did they notice any hardware change ? If yes and it still fails, this is really bad...

So this must be a hardware issue, or you guys would just release a BIOS flash? If that is so, how is it just affecting a small number of people. Maybe the others just don't play longer sessions.

I just had my first black screen issue. I played GTA V for hours without a problem but I started playing the new Tomb Raider and I got the black screen after about 30 minutes...so I guess the Hybrids also have the fault. Time to RMA my card >.<

I find this interesting. I have the same issue but reversed as you (with my RMA card). I can run benchmarks and play a few games for hours. But GTA5 and Homefront crash after 15-20 minutes of game play. I can even keep the card under 71C the whole time. This is with stock and OC clock speeds. I've tried PrecisionX and MSI Afterburner. Doesn't matter, 15-20 minutes, game crash. My fans don't spin up 100% either when the crash happens. The next time I play, I'm going to run the card in debug mode and see if the games crash.

I think EVGA can stop saying by now that it's 'only a small number of cards'. Because 'only a small number of users' are on these forums. And I think an unacceptable percentage of them is having issues. And if my replacement cards end up having the same problem I'll be wanting my money back. It's time for more transparency instead of 'we have identified the issue and it should be fixed' while apparently it isn't.

If my RMA is also faulty, is it possible to return to where I purchased? Because the RMA GPU would have a different serial # than the one I purchased.

Mine is having this issue too. Does anyone know if an RMA'd card can be returned to Amazon (if the new card has the problem too)? If this issue happens again with the new card, I'll want to switch to a different brand. I heard lots of good about EVGA and their customer service (which seems pretty great thus far), but it doesn't mean much if the product is inconsistent and doesn't work...

My situation is a little different then the ones that you all give examples of. I had it happen about 4 times in games, Battle Field 4 primarily. Then all of a sudden it stopped. I have been playing about say 5 hours or so of games this weekend, primarily trying to stress my system. I run fine on Heaven and Valley benchmarks. BUT --- If i run the 3DMark Sky Diver I can never get passed the part where she is in the cave and she throws that flare and it hits the top. When it hits the top of the water or whatever the graphic is that is when my system becomes unstable. Black screen and 100% fans kick in.
Can anyone say why mine is so different then all of yours?

Mine is slightly different than the others in that it hasn't happened in game yet. Just when I exit, and those fans are loud too. Of course I have not play WOW which seems to be a main one.

Looks like a FTW problem. My FE has yet to do this and all these posts seem to be from FTW users... Come on EVGA, you have to act fast... You know how these things go down...

That might just be because that's what people play. The first time I had it was in American truck simulator, attempting to buy a K200 in the shop. It happened 4 times in a row, so I thought it was the truck and deleted it. But then it started happening in WOW, after wich I started browsing here.... It might be easily reproducable in ATS with the K200, but I haven't tried it since.
