J0NOX Update: Just got my 2nd RMA card today and I got the black screen fan issue again after running Heaven for 15min. Weird because Evga got my card on the 2nd, which is after stating the prob had been fixed. So it seems they are still sending out cards that are broken. Going to get yet another RMA, I wont be paying for the sipping a 3rd time Evga.
Wow! You're going for a third RMA!! unbelievable!! After my first card failed I decided not to take any chances and I'm glad I didn't otherwise I would have been in the same boat as you. I got an MSI card instead and it works amazingly well and much cooler.
Unbelievable. I hope EVGA TW has their stuff together as my RMA is waiting to be returned..

Thanks, but debug mode doesn't work. Causes it to crash even more.

Crashed again twice in a row, after ~10 minutes of Heaven. 2050/5103 @ 1.075V, 65 C. Also why is nobody from EVGA saying what the exact issue is, or how exactly to diagnose a faulty card, even though they've "identified it"?

EVGATech_ChrisB Dear c4rLo5, I have requested that our Taiwan office contacts you to assist with this process. Please allow until end of day Monday for a response.
c4rLo5 Hi @EVGA_JacobF and @EVGA_ChrisB. I've submitted my RMA request through EVGA Taiwan since I'm in Australia. Is it possible to get an ADVANCE RMA please? As the turnaround time to ship to Taiwan and then have it tested then returned is really going to hurt.
Thanks Chris! Well this is why EVGA's famous international warranty was the only choice for many looking at buying a Pascal card in Australia. Hopefully the downtime will be minimum, as while it has served me very well, my old EVGA GTX780 just doesn't have quite the same horsepower to run my Oculus Rift.

The issue is hardware related..so maybe a faulty controller chip or something. EVGA will never say exactly what it is so don't hold your breath. Man I have to keep returning to these forums..MSI forums are so boring! Noone is having any issues with their 1080's! haha!

I got the black screen only in some of the new wow dungeons. I can run heaven for 8+ hours and nothing happens, then i go to neltharion's lair and there it is the black screen.
Maybe it's time for me to give up and go for the RMA but i'm not sure if EVGA will send the card with duties and delivery paid like Amazon.

I just got my EVGA 1080 FTW from Amazon. Ordered it on 9/4, past the cut over date. 30 minutes of WOW and it does this issue. I have in game overlay software showing fan speeds and temp, no issues and then all of a sudden black screen and max fan speeds. Pretty sad that they are still selling cards with this issue. Luckily I have my 980 I can throw right back in and RMA this guy. But I am not very happy about it. Hopefully the RMA card does not have any problems.

I remember 3 weeks ago mentioning that they should issue a recall of all these cards or at the very least stop selling them. They didn't do this at all and instead just introduced their EVGA FTW DT Edition. Looks like they don't care about any of their customers. I'm not going to be coming back to EVGA because of this. I like participating in these forums because it's like watching a slow motion car accident.

EVGATech_ChrisB Dear Rabb02, I can confirm that Debug mode will help to stop the crashes until we can have the card replaced. I am showing that you have a RMA processing for shipment and that the tracking information will be emailed to you later this evening.
Rabb02 Is debug mode the only Fix? I'm still getting black screen and fan usage at 100% Issue is getting worse. I do have an RMA but not being able to use my PC while this is fixed really isn't an option for me and honestly I'm starting to get irritated.
I too now am having this problem. Please help! :D

Add me to the list too, I was troubleshooting high idle and load temps with my hybrid 1080 purchased 8/23, have been running Heaven with no problems, switch to 3dmark and it happens within 5 minutes. Not sure if it's related but the sky dive demo in 3dmark makes the coils whine like a car with squealing brakes.

You need to go into the NVidia panel > Help > Debug Mode every time you restart your computer.. I thought it would stick through reboots but it doesn't. This might be your problem?

So has anyone had this issue start on them after a having the card running fine for a good while, or is this something that is making itself apparent within a week or two? I've had my 1080 FTW since mid-July and haven't had any issues with my card. Hopefully I'm out of the woods on this one. I feel for you guys having this issue.

Both of my 1080FTW:- straight out the box, day one > run Heaven bench for 15min > crash + Black screen + 100% fan.To get my cards to do this issue in Heaven with out fail all I had to do is run Heaven with these settings: API: DirectX 11Quality: UltraTessellation: ExtreamSterio 3d: DisabledMulti-monitor: DisabledAnti-aliasing: offFull Screen: on (tick)Resalution: 1600x900 <---(lower resolution bumps the FPS up) With those settings the fps goes high and within 15-20 min the black screen happened on both my cards :\

How are everyones RMA card overclocks?
I can run synthetic benchmarks at 2000 core but some games crash. Had to lower it to 1974 core. Kind of crappy but I guess it is what it is.

nextgencfl To everyone experiencing this issue. Where did you get your card. I believe it might be helpful to see where these cards were sold. Since it was a "small number" of cards perhaps only certain vendors had them. Thanks!
Built my computer on Monday and only today did I realise I wasn´t alone with this problem. Have a ticket and where asked to call support tomorrow in EU. Gutted, this is my first venture with EVGA and are on a schedule for work where I need my card. I´m in Sweden and got it from a Proshop.se (danish company)

See that's what is strange I can run those settings on mine for hours on end even with the core bumping up to 2025 (or so it claims), but when I try Elite Dangerous it crashes in 20 minutes without fail. Once I turn on debug mode almost all instability is gone, but I have to use afterburner to lower the clock speed and set fans to maximum to get 99% stability.

On my second 1080FTW and today after having it two weeks just got a black screen and fans at 100%. My first one died though after 31 days. I woke up to find the fans spinning at 100% then. PC was sitting completely idle. Card never powered back up after that. This is really sad about this right now. Emails Tech Support. This is obviously an issue and needs to be addressed. Something is wrong with these cards.

I just got a reply from Tech Support... Hello,
Thank you for troubleshooting the problem, it does sound like the 1080 FTW is having a problem that we have identified in a small number of units and we are now correcting. It is possible that the last RMA did not fix the issue for you as we were still identifying the hardware problem with this cards when we did the last RMA, we have found the solution to the issue and would be happy to offer you another RMA for this card. We are able to offer you an Advanced RMA replacement on that 1080 FTW. With the Advanced RMA we can send you out a replacement 1080 FTW with a pre-paid shipping label on the outside so that you can install the replacement unit, put the original in the box and use the pre-paid label to send it back to us. In order to complete this Advanced RMA for you we will need a few things: We will need you upload a copy of your retail invoice, the place to upload that is EVGA.com > Support > Invoice Upload. When we approve the RMA you will receive an email that requests an credit card number, this card will only be charged a $1 test authorization fee which will drop off the card in 24-48 hours, this allows us to both confirm that it is a valid card and would only be charged any money if we never received the original unit back from you. We can submit that RMA for you now, first we just need you to confirm your shipping address for us.
Regards, EVGA

Add me to the list. I have a FTW Hybrid that had been driver crashing (display device removed error, also insane micro stutter) during some games over the past week and a half. Already have an RMA replacement set to arrive Wednesday. I miss playing F1 2016 while I wait, so I fired it up. 10 minutes into the game I get the black screen and I think the pump, not the radiator fan, was going at max. So this affects the FTW Hybrid cards too. I may just return both cards at this point. Not cool.

Hybrid ftw here as well..
Yeah it's loud when it happens and ive run them at 100% fans so I know what that sounds like and it's much louder like twice as loud.. so if that's the pump.. wow. Sounds more like the fan runing super fast past what it allows you to run it.

@wils07: I might do the same, Microcenter near me has 10+ Classifieds in stock. I'll contact support to see if I can just send both back when RMA card arrives. Not worth it. Also, it may have been the other fan on the card going at full and not the pump. I didn't take the panel off my case to find out. It def was not the radiator fan freaking out. Edit- just called tech support and was told that all cards being sent out within past 2 weeks have been checked and revised due to the issue. Fingers crossed. Dud card or not, I love EVGA support.

This has been happening to me as well. On my second FTW from Amazon after I got the first one replaced when it could not even stay stable at stock speeds on Firestrike Stress test. I thought it was my PSU, so ordered a new PSU as well. Now I'm wondering if I should just return the FTW to Amazon and get a different card if this is not a solved issue?

Evga customer service has stated all cards going out from the factory since August 31st are fixed. So it may take awhile before those trickle into stores. Best to order from evga or get a different card.. maybe a classified.. ftw hybrid has the same issues. Though evga has said it's a small portion of the cards have the issue.
Also you can contact evga and get the card rma'ed to get the card cross shipped for free and you'll get one of those new fixed cards.

Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. My RMA card tested okay for about a day then just now playing Gears of War the same problem happen again. Black screen, fan spins up to 100%. Is it possible to get a refund? I don't want to keep playing the RMA game. For reference, I had a Titan X Pascal for two weeks before returning it. That card had zero issues.

Is it possible to get a refund? I don't want to keep playing the RMA game. For reference, I had a Titan X Pascal for two weeks before returning it. That card had zero issues.
This is a rma'ed card after August 31st??
