Hello I just bought my new Gtx 1080ti ftw3 but im having a problem. Pc starts nice and good and stays on. The moment I run a game that requires heavy use of gpu the gpu shuts down and the leds infront go off but the top one stays on. Pc doesnt stop working but my monitor stops getting signal from my gpu.Gpu doesnt recover I am then forced to make a hard shutdown and start it up again from the beggining. What could be the issue ? Any help would be appreciated.

Things I have tried are:
Clean install drivers
Reseat the gpu

Pc parts :

Motherboard: Asus maximus x hero
Psu : Corsair rm750x
Cpu: intel i7 8700k
Ram : corsair 2x8 gb 3000mhz

The usual suspects would either be the PSU or the card..Make sure the card isn't overheating, you can check the temps in on-screen display while gaming using EVGA Precision.

Sometimes the only way to troubleshoot an issue is by process of elimination or swapping out suspect parts with known-good or new parts.

You could try the card in another compatible system or take the card (or your whole box) to a PC repair shop for testing..You could try another PSU that's sufficient for your system.

EVGA recommends a minimum of a 600 Watt power supply for a GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 in a PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2GHz processor..You can get a more detailed PSU requirement using the OuterVision PSU Calculator (best) or the EVGA Power Meter

I'd hope it's the psu if it's a few years old.

Hopefully atm you removed any overclock from your cpu/ram while trying to figure this out.

If you have additional GPU power "PCI cables" & ports for that PSU - test them also.

Sometimes the PSU connector gets tight in the socket, before the cable is fully seated

What OS ?  if Win 10 is it up to date ?  June update covered a black screen issue

What kind of connection (cable) GPU to monitor ?

What Monitor are you using ?

    Which Nvidia driver ?

If your using Dp cable a certified one is important to use (they do not have to be expensive)

Do the fans on the gpu spin up to 100% when the gpu shuts down?

Chances are that the card is bad..Never seen so many software/hardware/driver/RMA complaints until the 10-series NVIDIA GPU-based cards were released..The 900-series had a lot of complaints too, but not as many..I blame it on the 'green' power saving kick that seems 'fashionable' these days..I want a video card that reliably burns coal or other fossil fuels as much as possible, nuclear power would be OK too..That's why I haven't 'upgraded' my card..Waiting on the next generation.

No, you're wrong.  It just seems that things have gotten worse as more and more people have access to the internet, and also a lot more 10xx series cards were sold than the 9xx series cards were sold.  And if you think the power saving crap is bad now, just wait till next gen as it gets worse :P
