I doubt that lasts long.
I won't be having GFE on my pc anytime soon, even if I have to miss out on newer drivers.

It causes more issues then it solves. It makes using your computer harder instead of easier. It's just not your friend. It's better when you don't have it installed generally.

Bloatware and hardware sniffer built into a single utility. I've never used it and as far as I can remember the nVidia Game Ready drivers haven't been all that great anyway. I'll just wait for them on the official download site.

I'll just use modded drivers if this is the case. I won't even bother with just blocking GFE in the registry. I tried the 'Experience' a few times and it was complete garbage.

What do you mean in December? Nvidia won't be listing their drivers directly on the nvidia website anymore in December?

Here's a section from the article. Starting with a pending December update to GeForce Experience, NVIDIA will be changing the way they will distribute their driver updates. Nvidia currently posts new drivers on a regular basis to their website while also simultaneously pushing them out via GeForce Experience. Come December starting pending that update, this format will changing. GeForce Experience will be the preferred “first access” distribution mechanism for NVIDIA’s frequent driver updates. That means Nvidia will shove GeForce Experience down your throat whether you like it or not. So in short - you’ll be able to install Game Ready drivers only via GeForce Experience — and even then only after you’ve registered a verified email address with Nvidia. The drivers you can grab on GeForce.com or via Windows Update will also be limited to quarterly releases for bug fixes, new features, security updates and so on. Aside from perhaps a hotfix here and there.

GFE users get preference and earlier access to newer drivers. The rest of us normal people will have to wait for them to reach the nVidia download site.

Sigh! Let's hope there is still a way around it. Otherwise we just have to learn to be more pacient than ever... extremely hard for enthusiast users. On the other Hand these so called game ready drivers never game a significant performance boost as far as I can tell. I remember GTAV was even running slightly slower with its Game Ready driver back then. Also the recent Star Wars Battlefront Beta was running just fine on a previous driver release.

Unless they change how they are coded, we will be able to pull the driver from the package and will still be signed. Regardless, a quarterly release won't be that big a deal to wait on if the rumor is to be believed. Should it get to the point that I have to use GFE for some reason, I simply won't update until I buy another card from another manufacturer.

I have had issues with GFE in the past and have no intention of installing it now. This is NOT exciting, nor innovative news. Just more control on the part of big corporations. AMD should gain from this

I learned a long time ago that newer isn't always better. How many of us are already using older drivers because they give us better performance than newer releases? I know I'm one of them so GFE won't influence my driver decisions.

I've tested a Fury X with the ASUS MG279Q, with and without Freesync, and wouldn't bother me to switch if nVidia wants to play that way.

I didnt like GFE at first either but somehow i installed it one day and started to see around for settings like what can use mfaa or what settings it let me choose in automatic settings just to know what the game and my pc can do to it. Also it is quite usefull to record if you dont use msi afterburner or any kind of other software. Afterwards if I slide over the settings to see what can be on or not it is possible to just adjust it in the control panel or the inspector and in the client itself. So what actually is bad about it when you dont have to go enter website adresses to get the file and just click it on geforce experience.

NVIDIA Prepares a Controversial Change to its Driver Update Distribution
2015/10/15 16:23:27
(permalink)
http://www.techpowerup.com/216771/nvidia-prepares-a-controversial-change-to-its-driver-update-distribution.html NVIDIA is preparing a major change to the way it distributes driver updates. You now get new versions of NVIDIA GeForce drivers by either downloading them from the company's websites (NVIDIA.com and GeForce.com), or use GeForce Experience to download and install (update) them for you. NVIDIA plans to change this such, that the latest driver updates will be only available through GeForce Experience, while standalone installers that are downloadable from the website will slow down to a quarterly update cadence.
What is Nvidia thinking doing this. Making people use GeForce Experience, if you want to download "Game Ready" drivers. You will need to register an account on GeForce Experience to download too. When you have over 80% of the market, you don't have to care how you treat customers anymore.
