ASUS, EVGA, GIGABYTE, MSI, PNY and Zotac should all be pushing Nvidia to not go forward with this plan. GeForce Experience should be optional, not required to download latest Game Ready drivers. No reason at all to require users to enter email address, unless you have plans to sell the information you collect to 3rd parties.

Why does everyone hate GFE? I have had to use it for the shadow play feature and the shield tablet streaming and i'v never had any issues with it. Please fill me in here.

So, if someone buys a new card, will they have to load drivers or at least GFE from disc to be able to get the latest game-ready drivers?

So how will I do this if a previous version of a driver works best, but will GFE only show the newest one?

I believe just the Game Ready drivers will require GeForce Experience to download. You can still download older drivers from Nvidia website.

I can already see people repackaging the "Game Ready" drivers on 3rd party sites. This could open Nvidia customers to be infected with malware, all because Nvidia wants to data mine it users for $$$.

Well...my question is...how long will it take before a "game ready" driver is posted on Nvidia's website as a "older" driver?. I can see myself and others not buying ANY AAA games at launch because I need GFE to get the "game ready" driver. I'll just wait till the game ready driver for that particular game to be posted on their site. Wouldn't game developers be against Nvidia doing this?

The only reason I have GFE installed and run sometimes as it is the only way to get special release SLI profiles (like Battlefront during the beta).  I dont know why they cannot just have this stuff for download.

This from the article  >>  "The drivers you can grab on GeForce.com or via Windows Update will also be limited to quarterly releases for bug fixes, new features, security updates and so on. Aside from perhaps a hotfix here and there".

Never had a problem with GFE. Installed it a few times, but i've got no use for it. But if this takes place and Nvidia forces us to use GFE it's just disgusting. I'm already kinda ticked off with lying of the mem config on the 970, this would just be the cherry on top.

If only they would spend resources on fixing all driver bugs instead of these kinds of nonsence.

System: 7820X - MSI X299 Carbon AC - G.Skill 32Gb TridentZ 3200 - EVGA 1080 Ti - 500 Gb Samsung 970 EVO , 2Tb Crucial MX500, 2Tb, 3Tb, 4Tb Seagate - Seasonic 1000W Prime - Creative Sound Blaster Z - Windows 10 Pro 64 - Phanteks Enthoo Primo - Edifier S530D - Acer Predator XB271HU (1440p)

Watercooling loop: Heatkiller CPU - EK 1080 Ti - Swiftech MCP 655 with EK X-Top v2 - XSPC reservoir - Alphacool 480 x2

I think they might try to convince us that using GFE will give them more bug reports the same way that Windows 10 constantly monitors everything that happens. I still call it snooping and bloatware.

Interesting and perfect timing. Vlada011 just enlightened me to how well specs on the R9-390X 8 GB video board looked especially the 8 GB of VRAM at a price just slightly over 400 USD. Team Red is looking better and better to me. Anybody interested in a pair of used MSI GTX-980 watercooled video boards? LOL

With 3 290x in house I was seriously considering my upgrade options and the 980ti was looking like my best choice it is as the 290x was the top GPU. FuryX just doesn't have enough RAM and the 390x doesn't represent a good enough reason to move up. I think I'll just hold out for Nvidia w/HBM or the next gen AMD HBM refresh and see where its at at that time. Nvidia will for sure back track on this, the noise is deafening.

Nvidia is the Apple of video cards with proprietary walled off ecosystem. They just keep on getting more and more proprietary and closed.
