What is the best ritual or incantation?
I swear I don't seem to have it happen consistently.
I have a couple of programs that I start and check configuration before I start FAH.
I have paused the cpu long before restarting the computer and I leave it alone.
Ones that have restarted cpu folding, on a restart, I will click...Finish..and later I will click ...pause..when it has finished...in Advanced Control.
It will say paused by user

Some of my computers are strictly gpu folders and one or two, of them, will start cpu folding.....when the  computer has rebooted.
What is the secret or should I do something in the Advanced config?
I always start FAH in the Web Control then open Advanced Control.

From your help I think I found a better setting.
You're setting would go into the Expert section and pause the whole FAH..that would do it, I believe.
I found under Slots for the cpu some have
paused True listed for the cpu slot.
I think that is what I was looking for.
I will test it out soon....
    Thanks

One of the best things you can do is go into slots, and remove the cpu completely. It doesn’t do enough work compared to the power it draws. The GPUs are the absolute work horses, and cutting the CPU out will save you power and let your GPUs have a little more freedom. No more pausing or worrying about it after that.

I don't run the cpu folding. As mentioned it puts out low ppd to power. Second the temps my cpu gets is real high. So as mentioned delete it from the slots and it should not fold when not wanted..

I Pause then Save then exit then quit.
The next time I run the client it starts in Paused Mode.

    Pause-on-Start = True
Every time I tried to enter this (in the right boxes) saved it and went back in it would say
    paused True
I will try your ritual bcavnaugh, later, after a few beers.... gets stressful when you are trying to do a bunch of computaes!

I am just afraid to remove stuff cause sometimes you like to let em run..

I stopped running on the CPU when the BIG-Adv Tasks ended.
BOINC WCG is the best way to use your CPU Power.

    Hi Gene
I like the colour contrast of paused by user...and well..I need the feeling I have the power to decide to use it or not.
    Kidding...
If I delete it is like I gave up...lol
Or it should do what you are trying to make it do.

This might be the trick and I like to figure out some puzzles...
Took me 8 hrs to figure out this one.

No help or wire cutters needed...
