Adds additional voltage support for Renesas PMIC memory.

BIOS 1.15 (E699 DARK K|NGP|N / E698 Classified)

  • Adds support for DDR5 Renesas PMIC over 1.435V.

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         121-AL-E699-KR - EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N - v1.15
         121-AL-E698-KR - EVGA Z690 CLASSIFIED - v1.15
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flash is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Power on the system again and go into BIOS and adjust settings as needed.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be run from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

BIOS Installation
  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the EXTRAS tab at the upper left and click on "BIOS Update"
  • Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update.  Thanks!

Also, earlier BIOS files for each board can be found on our Download Center.

Sorry guys, seems like the server ate the files last night.  Re-added them, so they should work again in a few minutes.

Still getting directory not found with both files.

It might be cached.  Try Ctrl+F5 or try in a private window/different browser.

Edit 1:  Hmm, seems it's on our side.  Looking into this.

new bios(1.15) can add  renesas PMIC over 1.435V. is good
But in my RAM(PMIC renesas )
will be different from the actual power supply voltage about 0.06-0.08
e.g. If I want to use for RAM 1.58 V
i must input in bios  about 1.66V
but have somting for Hynix A die next generation  memory chips .
I think it's not supported yet

I flashed 1.15, but I have a set of Hynix A die with the "unlockable" Renesas PMIC, but it will only run 1.435v on the Dark KP, even with the higher voltage mode enabled in the bios; do I need to enable a certain PMIC mode or something? I was using "Auto" with my other Hynix sticks.

Hynix A die (Green PCB) right ?  .
If yes, then check the last 2 digits of the barcode number.
and check the PMIC number
Hynix A die (Green PCB) will have 2 version Barcode  (last 2 digits)
84N is non OC PMIC = Even if the bios has an unlock function. But it can't be unlocked to more than 1.435 V
81N is Unlock PMIC = If the BIOS has an unlock function Will be able to add more than 1.435 V power.

and PMIC unlock is code P8911.You will be able to see this number on the PMIC chip.

They are 81N; I figured it out in the end. For some reason, the unlock only worked after I cleared the CMOS. As soon as I clear the CMOS, then re-enabled extreme voltage mode, it worked without issue.

It is also worth noting there is a very large difference between what is set in the BIOS, and the reported voltage on the DIMMS. To get 1.55v on the DIMMS I have to set Mem VDD to 1.62v in the BIOS.

Anyone having any luck with A-die? Mind sharing your timings / voltages?

So far, not that great. My gskill 6600 kit is running 7000 C32-42 1T at 1.54 (Air cooled), I tried 7000 C34 1T on the a-die and it won't train.

This kit is binned A-Die kit from Splave; he binned them all to be able to run 7600 C34-44-44-38 under 1.55v. So the kit should be pretty decent.  I got 7000 34-44-44-38 2T stable at 1.40v Mem VDD/VDDQ; 7200 34-44-44-38 2T stable at 1.41v, but thus far I can not get 7400 34-44-44-38 2T to get into the OS at any voltage, 7600/7800 will not even post.

I have been playing with CPU VDDQ/2 to see what helps. I am not having much luck however.

PS, Mind sharing your full timings and Voltages?

unfortunately i dont have a 7000 c30 screen shot with the timings currently in my hand, as i took my system apart to install it in my case.

TWTRL = 16 (lowest u can go) TWTRS = 4 (lowest) and i changed tcke to auto which is 24 and RDRDsg to 16(12 is not consistent and it has weird instability issues , and 0 gain in most synthetics and in games it hurts performance). there is a math for all the timings. if u would like to see it i could send it to you. also feel free to add me on discord Boogeyman#9853, if u are curious to know how the math is calculated and its relations also its easier to chat there than it is here.
PMIC mode 3 works best for me. it allowed me to train and pass consistently at 7000 c30-40. u would need 1.3v+ SA for 7600+, prob around 1.4v-1.5v
PS, TRAS min floor = TRTP+TRCD

I haven't had any luck. I have heard of people getting XMP to work with 4 DIMMS on boards where you can change the PMIC setting to per DIMM.  Hope they add that option at some point to try it anyway.

This is probably the single biggest improvement other than fixing the boost clock bug that they can possibly include in an update if they do. Every other high end 4 DIMM board has this option and it has single-handedly solved the over clocking and XMP issues on this platform. I would really love to see this get implemented soon before I finish my build so I can have one less headache to deal with. Manually tuning and overclocking the ram so all 4 DIMMs can be utilized anywhere near their XMP rating is just not something I want to spend ages on in order to fully enjoy my build.

Hi Lee,

Just to be safe. I extracted the content from "E698_flashtool_115" (without the folder) on a FAT32 USB flash drive.

I'm sure, you know the official video from you associate where he puts the .bin file exclusive on a USB - without the rest of the content. I did as you recommended, but I would like to know if the .bin is enough.

Regards!

Re: BIOS Updates for Z690 DARK K|NGP|N (1.15) / CLASSIFIED (1.15) 2022/10/13 15:07:25 (permalink)
If updating the BIOS in that fashion, you can extract everything to a folder, if you want.  The MB BIOS Update option is only going to look for the .bin and the rest doesn't do anything.  The rest of the stuff is needed if you're updating within Windows.
