Alabama authorities on Wednesday said someone had dumped hundreds of FedEx packages off a ravine and were working with the company to try and collect them. By evening the company had sent multiple trucks and drivers from "all over the south" to begin loading the packages in the morning, the sheriff’s office said. A deputy would be on scene while the work was completed. ( source)

It should be easy as FedEx, like UPS, knows through tracking where those packages were loaded and into what truck, be it a FedEx vehicle or contract.

WoW and I thought that crappy UPS hub in Ontario Califorina was bad holding up my step-up for over 30 hours one way then well over 48hrs almost 60 over two ways on my step-up. Feel bad for people who paid a lot of money and had been waiting awhile on their packages... Pretty crappy.

Isn't it odd that many are open, but they say that they are loading the packages up? I wonder what percentage are empty due to stolen contents vs what percent were left because they were deemed to be unwanted trinkets.

There would still be bar codes on the boxes to track what should have been inside, meaning FedEx will likely take a huge loss replacing all of the stolen items. With the police watching, it would seem that they are attempting to stop other drivers from stealing anything that is remaining inside the boxes.

With the police watching, it would seem that they are attempting to stop other drivers from stealing anything that is remaining inside the boxes.
They probably need the police to watch for the court case if they catch whoever did this. Chain of evidence of proving in court what is missing would almost require it. Probably they will be scanning the barcode, police will confirm the barcode and the empty box and log it in the report.

Probably was sent on a pallet of packages and got miss scanned as going to Alaska. When they removed it from the pallet in Japan they probably updated the tracking as having come from China to Japan.
