Will you be upgrading from 10 to 11 once it launches? Or several years down the line when Microsoft pushes people to it? Have you considered Ubuntu or other Linux-based distros?

As long as it's an improvement, I'm in. I liked Win 7, but still went to 10.

Yes, sort of..I'll put Win10 on a secondary drive, not my primary SSD, and then do the free upgrade to Win11 and see how it rolls.

I have Win7 and 10 now..I just keep Win7 around for some 'oldie but goody' games that won't run on Win10 even in Compatibility Mode.

I'm the early adopter type, but I'll have to wait out till next year when I should be getting a new build. Sadly, it cannot run on my older hardware.

Agreed, I think 7 was the best Windows. 10 is great though.

This is what I plan on trying too. I don't think the leap from 10 -> 11 is as big as the leap from 7 -> 10, so compatibility should be fine.

Could just install on a second partition. That's what I did with Windows 10 before I upgraded.

Ill pass all together. I last hope in windows after 7. 8, 10 and 11 are junk in my book. Worst part about my job is supporting PCs running 10, cant see 11 being any better.

Have you tried 8.1? I thought it was easily on par with 7.

From what I have read the new Alder lake chips take advantage of the win 11 software, so I plan on waiting until the guinea pigs try out the upcoming z690 mobos along with the new chips so any bugs can be worked out.

I think that means I plan on installing win11 sometime early-mid 2022, if there are significant gains to be made and upcoming reviews go well.

As long as there aren’t any major driver issues, yes. Might wait a few weeks. Being first to change over isn’t usually the best idea.

I see lags, the kernel is constantly busy with something, the scheduler throws tasks wherever it wants. L3 cache has more latency. This results reduce performance on AMD. Cursor is lagging on windows with applications AMD Radeon Software, Samsung Magician and etc. I can't change position of task bar. Sometimes a part of date can go out of display. I have a second system installed Win10. There are no such problems in it.

I will wait it out. All the bugs and hick-ups that can come with a new OS is sure to have a spot light. Even an early RTM build of Windows 11 won't be perfect at launch.

Its not possible. AMD literally has stated -15% performance and also theres a downclocking issue of -200mhz. LDAT shows much worse latency on w11. LDAT doesn't lie

Curiosity got the best of me.  I did an upgrade today...pretty painless actually.  Had to get used to the new start menu...seems you can only load 18 icons per page...so I have two pages worth.  Start menu more compact and takes a while to get used to.  After a few hours, I am pretty comfortable with it.  OS seems a bit snappier than Windows10 21H1,  Build is 21H2 (22000.194).  All my apps work fine...no issues to report yet.  I will work with the upgrade for a few months...will probably do a clean install sometime in the beginning of December.  The total upgrade took about 20 minutes and all my settings were saved as well as photos and documents.  Only other machine I have that is compliant is the X299 FTW K with 7820X.  My wife uses it mostly...so I won't upgrade until she is comfortable with the new UI.

Will you be upgrading from 10 to 11 once it launches? Or several years down the line when Microsoft pushes people to it? Have you considered Ubuntu or other Linux-based distros?

I'll have it on at least one machine (currently my work laptop as they force TPM and Secure Boot), and a few VMs. I personally do not like to enable ALL of the BIOS security features due to a performance hit so until they lighten the restrictions, I'll stay on Win10. As for Linux, I have two other systems with CentOS and Linux Mint.
