I have started receiving messages from heatware and Reddit users that someone has taken my Heatware and EVGA username, turned it into a Reddit username, and is now doing their best to scam people by saying they are selling a 3090TUF for under $1000.
If you are a heatware user, and you do not have a Reddit name, I suggest creating a Reddit name that matches your heatware and EVGA account just so it binds up the name.
This user did their best, and a Reddit user emailed me through heatware trying to verify I was actually the Reddit scammer, and of course, I had no clue what was happening.
If you all are not aware, and most of you may be, my username use to be Scarlet_tech, which is what it is on Reddit, and but I never got it changed over to the_Scarlet_one because I just don’t use Reddit. It took over an hour just to figure out how to send the hardwareswap mods a message that they had a scammer running around, and the scammer got to 4 more people in that time.
So, this is just a heads up for heatware users to protect themselves from bad reviews.

T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G

I can honestly say that I would have never thought to do that before someone mentioned that it was actively happening.

I signed up for a reddit account not to long ago, and didn't have problems, guess I'm not famous enough to be impersonated yet, nor have a common enough name for it to just be taken by chance. (which might be the case for a name like bobmitch, it's like a real name so I could see someone else having it too)

Funny...I just got stung by this. My Reddit is not the same as here...but my Heatware is. Someone in Arizona purchased a GPU from someone who used my Heatware name, to look up my history. The guy made the purchase via Paypal and then messaged me through HW and asked for a Tracking number. I messaged back that I had no idea what he was talking about. He told me the story that the seller and he first met on Discord...seller then sent him to Reddit where he gave him my heatware name to look up. At that point...the buyer messages me with "Can you read this?" I replied with Yes I can...what can I do for you? At that point he figures the deal is legit and sends Paypal for a 1650 Super to the seller. I go back and forth with the guy a few times and come to the realization that someone used my Heatware ID, to use my reputation. Gave him some advice on how to let Heatware and Paypal know. I also contacted the people that run Heatware. Wow!

The heatware creator hasn’t been responding lately, and I am not sure what’s going on. This is a creative scam, and it is going to get worse quickly as people figure out it works.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, sign in to your Heatware account and add all your alias accounts - EBay, Reddit, etc. - which will show in your profile at Heatware. Good way to protect yourself and help protect others from falling into the same trap.

Yep, even with aliases set, my profile picture set as a handwritten note explaining I don’t sell on Reddit, and warnings all of Reddit, a third person just contacted me stating they were scammed.

Then it would appear that they didn't even bother to look. You did what you could to help them, if they choose not to do any due diligence whatsoever when it was right there in front of them, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ..some people just have to learn the hard way unfortunately.

Wow, that's horrible! Sorry that happened to you. Reminds me of AV back in the day (and, well...today too): malware gets released, AV reacts to it, lather/rinse/repeat. Sadly there will always be ways to 'game the system', and (unfortunately) a lot of the time it's 'reactive' vs. 'proactive'. At any rate, thank you for the valuable info. I have no heat and I dont use Reddit, but your important info can be applied across many other......uhhhh......venues/sites/mediums
