New Updates for X299 Motherboards today.  Early weekend present for those of you who have been waiting for the Adaptive Vcore / AVX throttling issue to be resolved:

BIOS 1.25 (E299 Dark) / 1.25 (E297 FTW K) / 1.18 (E296 Micro ATX 2) /1.26 (E295 Micro) Updates

  • Update CPU Microcode to 6A08 (SKL-X) and 3003 (CCL-X)
  • Fix PerCore voltage mapping issue for several CPUs

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         151-SX-E299-KR - EVGA X299 Dark - v1.25
         142-SX-E297-KR - EVGA X299 FTW K - v1.25
         121-SX-E296-KR - EVGA X299 Micro ATX 2 - v1.18
         131-SX-E295-KR - EVGA X299 Micro ATX - v1.26
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

BIOS Installation
  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
  • Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update.  Thanks!

So what is the real purpose of this Bios? there is no more CPU's atm, and settings here, seem stable.
Is this gonna make things more speedy? and hopefully pass up the K series CPU's?

I have confirmed this morning that this BIOS update corrected the AVX-512 issues that I reported over in this post, https://forums.evga.com/X299-Dark-BIOS-v118-Possible-BugIssue-m2975001.aspx

    Note:
    - If you are using AVX-512 than I would highly recommend updating to this BIOS version.
    - Depending on your OC and due to the Microcode issue in previous versions you may need to re-do your OC in regards to AVX-512 datasets.

Thanks EVGA for getting this update out!

Oh, this could be a big fix, i did get a 1090xe so that will be in the works too.  Amazing, since i been at 5ghz stable now, but this
    might add more umph

That article you posted is over a year and a half old, and has been many bios updates since then. So excatly was wrong with avx?
and i have been running handbrake for quite some time , even with prior CPU upgrades, since the 7800X, to 9800x, to the 10980x i
    am getting Wed.

The issue itself was a bit complex, but at a basic level the CPU was power throttling when running AVX-512 instructions resulting in the CPU frequency dropping below where it should have been. However to be clear this was NOT an EVGA issue this was 100% on Intel, they released a Microcode update a while back that caused this issue. EVGA and others have been waiting for Intel to resolve the issue for sometime...

This broke OC robot, or I discovered an interesting bug when upgrading from 1.23 (never got around to 1.24) on my X299 FTW K and 10940X.

    1. Set BIOS defaults and save/reboot, load windows, flash this BIOS.
    2. Set whatever boot options needed - in my case, RAM XMP and disabling onboard sound and LAN. Save profile and reboot.
    3. Use OC robot to find per core max, save and reboot to BIOS, save profile at the same slot with a different name, reboot.
    4. Use OC Robot to find all core max, save and reboot to BIOS.
    5. Now see that while the cores show a multiplier, in my case 49, that doesn't reflect the top, middle reading on the screen - 41 in my case. Windows reports the same.

It was thinking that I was changing from my per core OC robot results when I swapped to a 48 multiplier for all core per the save and reboot page. Also, voltage seemed to be at a default 1.1V. Quite weird.

Thanks on the technical issue of the Avx thingy, i did notice a drop in clocks, i however am running latest update, so wee how she goes,
Also waiting for the New Chip Wed, so hope that brings this platform to its limits, and with it the last of the X299 CPu's right now, i am
gonna sit back on this thing for some time, and enjoy it.

And as far as OC Robot, not sure what it changes, but doesn't seem to change vin setting bast 1.8, so hard to trust it since it really
doesn't do all the work for voltrages.

Still ignores VRM Fan (PWR) setting on cold boots.  I have it set to 20% and have to reboot after A0 code before it picks it up. X299 FTW-K

Not, sure, seems fine here on dark x299. I don't really do avx workloads, seeing they are mostly tile based
apps. I do mostly gaming, and mild Handbrake, or even surf.
