Good morning all,

I recently discovered that the 3090 FTW3 Ultra has the OC switch on the card. I decided to test it out. I powered down my system, flipped the switch to OC, and now my system will not POST. The various lights in the system flash once very quickly, the fans stutter...but that is it. I can also see that that motherboard is getting power as the mb LED's are on.
Flipped the switch back, still won't POST.
Removed the GPU, cleared the mb BIOS, removed the BIOS battery, even removed and reseated ram.
Reseated all power cables. Still won't post.
I disconnected the PSU and was able to jump start it with no issue.
I have an older PSU, so I plugged that into my system, does the same thing as my main PSU. System will not POST.
So, at this point I'm fairly certain my MB, is has some sort of issue. I have a replacement on the way.
I have a very hard time believing that flipping the swithc on the card to OC caused this to happen, but it's awfully coincidental. Anyone hear of anything like this? I combed through the forums and couldn't find this scenario.

Note 1, I have not flashed the bios on the card other than the fan updated that is done automatically
Note 2, other than this issue, my card has been working flawlessy for the last couple of weeks.
Note 3, also forgot to mention I reseated the CPU jsut for kicks. Same result.

Thanks for any thoughts or input.
Jason

OC switch just changes fan profile. If youre cpu has a igpu i would remove the 3090 and see if boots.might have to enable in bios if it is switched off.Just a thought to rule out system issue. Also check the thread on known working psu .here       https://forums.evga.com/W...-WORKING-m3118557.aspx

To me that sounds like a grounding issue. Something shorted out.

Have you tried running with the motherboard removed from the case? If you have a power button on the motherboard, or you might need to bridge the Power pins on the motherboard if you don't.

Start with the minimum plugged in - 1 stick of RAM (slot 1), no drives. If it powers up, add one thing back at a time and test.

I agree with trying to start the system with the motherboard outside of the case.

I just encountered the same issue. Plugged in my previous card and everything works fine.

So, without a videocard in the system, it will not post with two different PSU's. So, 100% certain it is not the video card.

Went ahead and pulled the motherboard from the case, hooked up the PSU and gave it another go. This time when I turned on the PSU the LED's on the motherboard flashed once and did nothing. Pressing the power button on the mother board does nothing. Switched to my other PSU, same exact thing.

So, 100% certain that the motherboard is dead, especially since at first the LED's on the motherboard would stay on, now they merely flash.

I'm only hoping that my videocard is okay considering this all started with flipping the switch to OC. Makes me wonder if something shorted somewhere in the card? Somehow affected the motherboard? Seems like a stretch, but stranger things have happened.

At any rate, I have a new CPU and MB coming Friday. So we'll find out then.

    Thanks all!

Good Luck man. Hopefully it was just that and the card is fine.

Really? I couldn't find any instances of this scenario...but I didn't look through all the threads with a fine toothed comb either.

Do you know if in any of those cases their videocard was okay?

    Thanks,
    J

Ended up replacing my motherboard. Unfortunately, it was about 3 years old so it made more sense just to upgrade. Everything is working flawlessly now. I have about 80 hours of Cyberpunk 2077 running at 4k on ultra settings without even a hiccup.

With my previous motherboard I did notice some stuttering usually when I first started a game, didnt think much of it. With my new mb and cpu...it never happens. So I wonder if it was just coincidence that my old mb was gling out?

That all being said, i havent flipped the oc switch on the card to test that. Im fairly certain it'd be okay. But, do not really need it.
