Hi,

I had to replace my motherboard and need to reinstall Windows 10 64x. I have built an install USB with Windows Media Tool. I would like to know what are the steps to reinstall. My M2 drives contain the old install of Windows which I want to format for the new install. I have heard you need to run a tool to format the M2 drives before installing Windows?

You changed series of MB ?  or replace with like kind ?

Only have the boot drive installed in MB -- remove all other HD

Use the SSD OEM tools if you want to wipe the HD (return to new)

Set BIOS to see your M.2 & Boot first from USB

Did you check the EVGA manual ? ... some are Very detailed

I am using the same motherboard series:X299 Dark.

I have built my entire PC. To start pulling m2 drives would be massive work. I have water cooling and more.

I am not aware of any Western Digital tools that allow me to boot and format the M2 drives?

What do I need to do to make my BIOS see the m2 drives? Where do I set to boot from USB

Pressing F7 during boot will let you choose from which device to boot. Once you boot from install media and get to point where it asks you where to install there you will be able to delete existing volumes and create new ones. In general that should be good enough, however if you want to completely clean drives process is:

Boot from install media, select ‘Repair your computer’, select ‘Troubleshoot’, run ‘Command Prompt’, run DISKPART, identify number of disk to clean with LIST DISK, make that disk active with SELECT DISK, and run CLEAN

This will create fresh, new System and Recovery partitions. They too can get corrupted so if you are going to start with a fresh Windows 10 partition you might as well start with all fresh partitions.
