QUESTION: I have an evga supernova 650W platinum, is this enough? processor is a 6700k overclocked to 4500Mhz, 32gb of ram overclocked to 3000Mhz.

You should be ok with it tbh but I wouldn't go hard on OCing with it. 
 
Will you have a boat load of things connected to the PC like multiple HDs, SSDs, M.2s, fans up the wazoo, RGBs everywhere, custom liquid cooling, etc?  If not, I still think 650w will be ok but you're cutting it close for OCing headroom in case you do some benchmarking and stuff when you completely forget you have a 650w PSU.  If you're not into all of that, you should be fine with your current PSU and a 2080 Ti FTW3.  Plus, most reputed PSU companies have protections in place so the worst thing that can happen is the PC shutting down, not to mention it's a EVGA PSU you have at your presence so you're good no matter what. 

thanks for your reply. my system is very simple compared to what I see online, I do not really care about the rgb, etc.
 
I have:
 
- Intel i7 6700K overclocked to 4500MHz @ 1.27V (it goes higher but it makes noise so I kept it like that. never seen it consume more than 100W according to HWInfo software)
- Noctua NH-D15 cooler for the processor, stock fan curve
- Asus Z170-A motherboard
- 32 Gb Corsair Vengeance overclocked to 3000 MHz
- 2 Samsung SSD's (1 850Evo 120Gb + 1 860Evo 1Tb)
- 1 Western Digital 1Tb HDD Caviar Blue
- 1 Fractal Define R5 case with 2 fans (stock fan curve)
- 1 Pioneer BDR209DBK blu ray drive
- 2 Noctua NF-S14A ULN fans (stock fan curve)
- 1 Noctua NF-S14A FLX (stock fan curve)
- 1 USB bluetooth (like a pen drive)
- 1 USB receiver for my wireless keyboard and mouse
- 1 USB receiver for my Steam controller
- other USB's are used to connect my fanatec wheel and pedals, charge phone, etc etc).
- 1 EVGA SuperNova P2 650W Platinum
 
Maybe I should buy one of those little devices that measure the draw from the wall? how to these are called?
 
 

I knew I left something out from my last post but yes, you should grab those Kill-A-Watt as I have one for each of my two systems with just the PSU plugged into them.  That should give you an idea how close you are and how much headroom you have.  
 
Overall tbh, your system looks fine for a 650w.  If you get the meter and you seem to be close in your biggest loads, than yes try going with something higher.   Many recommend higher because a lot of folks here game and bench hard so some can easily surpass 650w with flying colors. lol

these issues seems to appear online on a daily basis. 
 
is the root cause for these problems figured out to this date? I have been waiting for a long time for a 2080 ti or a 2080 card and I am getting out of patience already but would like to know for sure before committing to a purchase. one thing is certain, will be a ftw 3.

It has nothing to do with the memory, if that’s what you’re getting at. Even when they were first publicized as failing, Gamers Nexus found that the memory had no impact on whether or not the card would fail. It’s some kind of PCB defect and the percentage of failure is way lower than it might seem.

Personally I believe that many of them are due to user error. Not using an adequate power supply, etc.

But who knows.


Edit: a PCB defect that eventually causes the memory to degrade and fail.

I've had the RTX 2080ti for a short time and no issues so far. Gaming seems very good. The RTX 2080ti has a high price but it does have the best performance. 

Of course they work out of the box, the issue is, will it last longer than 9 months? I haven't seen a single person claim to have had a 2080ti survive that long.

I got mine when they released last October and it's still going strong. EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 ultra with Micron memory.
