So I finally upgraded my GTX 1060 about 3 weeks ago to an RTX 2080(yay).

Unfortunately I ended up going with the blower style as I have a pretty compact little case. (Revolt 2 style)
Popped in the card and loaded up BF5 and thought Ray Tracing was cool.
Start to monitor temps and looking for a stable clock when I noticed that under load it hovers around 80-85c with a modest OC.
Stock it hovers between 78-83c.

I have tested this with an open test bench as well as with a combination of panels removed on my case(top flap up too) and the temps seem to remain constant.

Anyone else have a blower version with similar experience or should I possibly be looking at an RMA?

Thanks,

Sadly, that is a blower model, and why most companies have moved away from them as often. They are thermally limited because of the single fan, and lots of area to cool.

I know they are less efficient at heat displacement but this seems a bit too warm even for a blower style card. I contacted EVGA and they recommended re-applying Thermal Paste.
Anyone happen to know what brand EVGA uses?

    Room temp ?

GPU fan on 100% ? or custom curve ?

Crank up your case's intake fans & pressurize the case

I have a TitanX Pascal on air with the blower design - cranking the intake fans helps

You could open the card & check the quality of the factory TIM application on the GPU

Is your CPU on a AIO cooler.  Dose it blow the heat into or out of the case ?

Room temp is around 70F(give or take a few degrees.
Fan speed was 100% at all the tests.
Internal fans included in the fan speed test.
CPU cooler is a Corsair Hydro 120mm
Air is being brought in by the rear intake blown out at the bottom fans so there should be positive pressure inside.

I'm thinking of getting a refund and then purchasing the the 08G-P4-2081 model for the additional cooling fan/design. I'd be out about $100 but I gotta get these temps down.

I have plenty of cards running (capping off) at 83C.
It's ok. They're rated to 90C, and can easily handle 100C.
You may want to help out the fan, by installing a positive pressure fan on the front of your case if it has any space for that.
Sometimes negative pressure (sucking) fans on the back of the pc are making GPU fans work harder.

Or, if no other way possible, see if you can create an opening in the front of the PC, usually by removing a DVD/CD-ROM cover from your pc.
It'll have a gaping hole, like it's missing a tooth, but it's still better than hot running GPUs.
