Replaced my EVGA 1080 ti ftw3 with an EVGA 2080 ti ftw3. Trying to launch Metro Exodus from the epic launcher makes the game freeze every time.
 
-Uninstalled/performed clean install of the drivers. Any tips?
 
Not sure if I wanna uninstall/install the game because I don't want to lose my saved data.

Your data should be saved in the cloud.
 
Maybe try another PCIE slot? To make sure the slot is fine.

 
I knew steam saved it in the cloud but wasn't sure about the Epic Launcher, thanks for the info. My MSI Z370 board only has 1 16x PCIE slot. I can load up any other game perfectly fine. Except exodus. It gets to the developer splash screen and freezes before the main menu.

Try launching the game with debug mode enabled inside the nvidia control panel.

It still crashed in debug mode.

Is your cpu & ram overclocked?

8700k is running at 5Ghz. I set my ram to 3200 which is what it is (2x8gb trident z) but i'm pretty sure my motherboard considers anything over 2600 speed 'overclocked' (could be wrong on that). gpu is still at stock speeds because i haven't swapped my 850 psu in yet I just wanted to check out the card on my 650 watt psu. talked with the guy at microcenter and he said the psu should be fine unless i overclocked the card. the weird thing for me is it's happening before I'm even at the menu screen.

I still have had issues with this game, even with down clocking my 1080 Ti FTW3 in none SLI mode. The most interesting thing is my new replacement RMA for another 1080 Ti FTW3 arrived today. The game now has not a single lock up. It's using the original bios version 86.02.39.00.90 Everything is on max load and not a single glitch. Maybe the newer bios I have been running on the other card has issues with Windows and in-game mode. Seems odd now everything is perfect with the old setup bios not the new version that's out.

that's really interesting. my previous card was a 1080 ti ftw3 and I had no issues with it on the game. I really hope I don't have to rma this card. luckily microcenter is only an hour away so I wouldn't have to ship it out. 

I got the game to go to the menu screen by using the 'optimize game' function in the GeForce Experience. Looking through the video options in the settings I noticed the resolution got set to 1920x1200 somehow (I have a 2560x1440 monitor). Tried changing the resolution to what it should be and it crashed my game.
 

Does this issue occur over the last three latest graphics drivers? Have you tried to delete the game .cfg file?

I'll try rolling back the drivers. What does deleting the .cfg file do?

Reset everything back to first time setup settings.
