Hi,

This is my first post :)

I have a question related to BIOS. I would like to reduce clocks to Nvidia reference clocks in GTX 1070 FTW Gaming ACX3.0 to safe card because every game runs very fast and I fell I don't need such power. This will also make my card live longer and use less power. Do You have bios for FTW card with reference clocks like FTW DT? I don't want to use software to set clocks but to permanently set it in GPU BIOS.

I can also ask this question differently. Does the BIOS from 08G-P4-6274-KR (FTW DT ACX 3.0) will fit to 08G-P4-6276-KR (FTW ACX 3.0)?

How can I check what BIOS'es are available to my EVGA card?

Warm regards,
Marcin

Yes, you can flash the dt vbios to your card using nvflash.

Thanks for Your reply. Can You tell me how to do it? I know there is a lot of information in the internet how to flash nvidia card using nvflash but I have specific question related to EVGA FTW cards which has two vbioses: master and slave.

I would like to upload FTW DT bios as a slave but first I would like to backup slave bios. How to select which bios I can flash using nvflash. Do you have a description of this procedure somewhere here in the forum? So my 3 questions are:
1. How to backup master/slave bios vusing nvflash app?
2. How to write new vbios to master/slave using nvflash app?
3. Where I can find the most recent vbios (master and slave) for 08G-P4-6276-KR and for 08G-P4-6274-KR. If this is important the Serial Number of the card is:

1. You can use gpu-z to backup the vbios.

2. You can following the flashing procedure listed here to flash your card.

3. If you're not having issues I wouldn't worry about finding the latest versions. Just backup the ones you have.

Note: There is a little switch on your card to the left of the dual 8-pin power plugs that will allow you to switch between master/slave.

Thanks For your reply. The link that You provided in point 2 is not working.
Where I can find master vbios for FTW DT version? Is flasing FTW card with FTW DT vBios version will work or do I need to use some switches to force it in nvFflash app?

Thanks for Your Help.
One more questioin. I noticed that You are providing vBios in some 6276.zip and 6276_ORG.zip form. After unpacking those files there is update.exe and nvflsh64.sys.
There is no *.rom file. How can I compare MD5 and SH1 hashes from the vBios that I've already backedup from my GPU.
I've backed up bios using command nvflash64 --index=0 --save original_master.rom
I've done the same using GPU-Z to compare if those 2 vBIOSes are the same and it seems that the command above and GPU-Z are outputing the same file byte by byte.
Now I have this *.rom file and I would like to compare MD5 and SH1 with those provided in 6276.zip to check if I have original vBIOS. But the problem is that in this archive there is no *.rom file.
How can I extract *.rom file from update.exe?

So let's assume I want to update the vbios under Linux OS. I have file 6274.zip
- Primary 6274 (EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW DT ACX 3.0):
I want to write it to Primary 6276 (EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0)

How to do this using 6274.zip which contains *.exe files? I tried in windows and It just not work because:

Board is incompatible with firmware version 86.04.50.00.72.
No display adapters were found that are compatible with this update.

I'm assuming this update.exe is smarter than me which of course is true because I want to do something unusual. I know how to bypass those restrictions using nvflash application but I just need *.rom file.

You should be able to use the .exe in the 6274.zip after you flash the card with the vbios I linked in post #6

Flash in DOS with Rufus at a basic low-level using command lines that doesn't involve any OS, just DOS..See how that rolls.

Re: BIOS Question for EVGA GeForce GTX1070 FTW Gaming ACX3.0 2019/01/13 02:28:49 (permalink)
Thanks Sajin. Everything works. I did flashing and it changed the 6276 to 6274
The funny thing is that now I can extract vBios from GPU to make backup but I can't extract it from update.exe heh

What I need to ask is that 6274 has GPU Clock at 1506 Mhz and in Boost mode 1683 Mhz. This is shown in GPU-Z

But when I start to load GPU with some 3d task then sensors are showing much more than 1683 Mhz. Take a look here:

So the question is why GPU Core Clock shows 1809.5 Mhz and sometimes even more 1822.5 Mhz? This is far above boost clock defined in vBios that flashed.

The reason the clock is going higher than the advertised boost is because of gpu boost 3.0.

Is this expected and normal for FTW DT cards? I've read about GPU Boost 3.0 Technology from Nvidia. It is like some self overclocking technology build in the card. Are You referring to this?

I also notice that my GPU after flashing becomes unstable during playing some games (Project Cars 2 etc...). I'll try to use the bios from post #6 and try make some testing in real games in 2 weeks to see if this will be better. If stability problems will occurs then I'll return to the original vBios.

I think I know what I did wrong. My procedure was the following:
1. Run Windows in Safe Mode and uninstall NVidia drivers with most recent version of DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
2. Run Windows in Normal Mode, CMD as Administrator, Flash Bios
3. Install fresh drivers (without restarting Windows after flashing)

Now I tried after flashing vBios to reboot system, because maybe something was sitting in memory after flashing from old vBios. After Windows restarts I installed NVidia drivers and I see that now my GPU is stable. Can somebody confirm that my thinking is correct between steps 2 and 3 I should restart my OS?

Thanks for this comment. How do You prepare USB stick with this tool? I'm not sure which option to choose? There is no MS-DOS just FreeDos

Do You have procedure how to prepare such USB stick for flashing vBIOS using either update.exe file provided by EVGA or using nvflash.exe app?

I use FreeDOS and a .rom file for my card..But not sure it would work on a newer card..Sounds like you got it flashed now anyway.
