Hi all,
I have a z77 based system that is having some issues. I am leaning toward a bad motherboard but I thought I pick the brains of the community before tossing it in the trash. Main components are
z77 FTW
I7-2600k (no overclocks)
24 GB Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz ram
EVGA GTX 1060
The system started to constantly boot loop during post. I was able to reset cmos and get it into the bios but started getting stuck on post codes. Initially I was stuck on
59 CPU micro-code is not found or micro-code update is failed
Now, I mainly get
55 Memory Not Installed.
I have checked the memory, tried the sticks individually and in pairs with no success. I can always reset the cmos and get into the bios but after exiting the system will either boot loop during post, get instantly to FF without booting or resets after several seconds at post code 55. I have also used the second bios with same issues. Any thoughts?

Maybe time to change the Battery on the MB, it is getting old now. I really liked my Z77 FTW MB. View System my first Deliding Project. Pull the CPU and check the CPU Socket Pins. I'd try reseating the cpu.

None of the suggestions worked. I live in a smaller town and I don't have many options but there is a computer repair shop. I'll see if they have a 1155 mobo to test the cpu but looks like the mobo is done.

All the CPU Socket Pins looked good?
Yeah, I look em over with a magnifying glass, didn't see any bent pins. Changed the battery with no success. I can get into the bios after resetting cmos but making any changes causes the system to loop during post. I've tested the memory on another system and it appears to be functioning correctly. I have used a Corsair H50 AIO since I built this machine and the CPU has a discolored spot on the IHS but that has been that way for several years now. I dunno if that is corrosion of some kind, wear or if that is from being overheated at some point. I haven't had temperature issues with this system but I haven't seen this on any other CPU I have used over the years.

The CPU Looks Fried to me, it looks like it has been overheating for a long time. What Thermal Paste did you use? I would pop a new or used CPU in place of the one in your Photo. Intel Core i7-2600K Used on eBay less than $90

What Thermal Paste did you use?
I would pop a new or used CPU in place of the one in your Photo.
That mark has been there for at least 4 years. I received this z77 as an RMA replacement for a z68 and the mark was there at that time. It was either IC Diamond or Arctic Silver that I last used about 2 years ago to replace the TIM. This CPU has always been in the 50s with the H50 AIO. This an old system that has been handed down to the youngest kid and is not worth buying parts just to get it going. In any event, I'll see if my local albeit bad repair shop can test it. Unfortunately, the board is dead. I was able to borrow another CPU and confirmed it today. The CPU is still good despite the mark on it but isn't worth buying a new 1155 board just to get it going. Thanks for the suggestions!

I just picked up a used Z77 FTW with no accessories.
Downloading software and drivers @evga and not clear what E-Leet version to use...
Was going to guess 0.8.2 but Z77 not specifically listed (says X79 / Z97 / Z87).
Any help on what version?

None of them work...
Found a post with an old heritage E-LEET version and it worked (not awesome but works, I like(d) XTU better).
That chip "looks" fried but could be thermal compound alloying with the Ni on the heatsink.
if you polish it with scotchbrite and it gets silver again then it overheated, if it is shiny copper then your Ni is just alloyed off (better answer).
how did the board die? Just no post one day or did you push it?
