An anonymous source submitted benchmark results of a processor with 8 cores, 16 threads, 256 KB of L2 cache per core, and 16 MB of L3 cache; clocked at 2.60 GHz (prototypes and engineering-samples are usually clocked low). This makes me wonder if this CPU is part of what Intel might announce at Computex 2018 with maybe the Z390 chipset.

unless it's a fixed processor that is no longer smeltdown and it's variants exploitable, I don't care. haha.

Well you have to admit that Intel is working hard to update microcode.

Actually Intel stopped progress on updating microcode on some products and has basically given a lot of users the finger.

Meltdown gets patched from MS and you'll get or most likely already got that through MS update.  The Spectre "microcode fix" comes from Intel to the motherboard mfgr's where they will issue a BIOS update you'll need to flash.

    Yea, this attract me. i7-9700K.
    Revenge to 2700X is close.
    But first, SILICON BUG FIX.

I don't want to every week wake me new surprise and Cumulative Update...

    i7-9700K 8 CORE 16 THREADS.
But what 3.1 GHz, that can't be trute, that's too low except if Intel want to replace OC capacity of i7-5960X.
i7-9700K will be better than i7-7820X and I would rather choose him because better support for faster memory and supporting
    UHD 4K BluRay.
If you want to look UHD Bluray now you need nice 500$ worth AV Reciver, 300-500$ worth Oppo or Panasonic UHD 4K Player and TV and Speakers you need anyway. But with i7-9700K you only need to enable Internal GPU.
Becuase of that I advice mobo manufacturers to implement better support for switching from dedicate to Internal GPU.

Now will advantage of X99 to Z170 to become more important, you install i7-6950X, OC to 4.3GHz and beat them all.
    4 years old chipset.
Price will be arround 450-500$ when these models show up. Now is i7-6900K available for that price.
With i7-6700K you are stucked on dead 4 cores.

That's not important, results are all we need or our pocket will suffer, not Intel's.
Meltdown, Spectre topic will to the end of 2018 to brake down all records on overclock.net in number of pages and people who try to install all fixes. I wait final solution to show up because I estimate that all efforts of people and Intel will be for nothing, just to pass enough time to launch fixed silicon and change story 360 degree.
If you want 6 months or 10 months or 2 years after i7-9700K to show up news Finally silicon is fixed, new CPU only solution, Intel start to shipping processors with Spectre Meltdown fixed and you can live with that than OK. Because they will not recall your samples.
And we are with Spectre V4... If they found V2 and V3, they could find and V100 because type of silicon.

Where is warranty that benchmarked score will be same after V10 Spectre, Where?
They fight to optimize... listen They fight to optimize CPU drop after patches and decrese impact on performance. Can you imagine.
I thought only fight should be in direction - Increasing Performance in new applications, not fighting to decrease impact of Bug on performance and every week new Bug show up.
That's playing without end until new silicon.

And moderator on ROG Forum change Intel X99 to Threadripper.
I joke and ask him for Intel... He laugh and say Intel, hahaha people don't learn.
    His right, totally.

But we need to check what's on table, I can't build next computer if frequency is below 4.5GHz.
I don't need 5.0GHz, but 4.5GHz and 8 cores would be nice, off course I prepare my room and new desks for Home Theatar.
I want my PC to support UHD 4K BluRays in future.
