How many Current EVGA Folding and BOINC Team Members have moved over to Mining in 2017/2018?
It would be nice if this was more of a Survey Poll.

I see, but you are only Folding under Team EVGA
or other Teams as well like Curecoin?

I mine via merged folding.  I have folded for Team EVGA in the past but got out of it for a while and picked it up back in June for mining purposes on the Cure Coin team.  If there was a way to do merged folding under EVGA's team I would.  I'm guessing you are polling for such an idea?

wait till CC 2.0, one of its things is removal of the pool, which i would assume will also remove the requirement to fold for the Curecoin team. that though is just a guess and should not be counted as fact.

Well that is IF Vorsholk is really working on a curecoin 2.0 or if he's just scamming us and is using this time to make bank with his rental rigs (no I'm not bitter haha).  We can hope so though, as I would like to have more options as I would love to come back to folding for team EVGA fulltime again.

I do not like how it says stoped folding to mine as I do not mine. So other reason is my answer.

IMO Folding under Curecoin (Curecoin.net | Research and Cryptocurrency) is Mining but I see what you are saying but that is the type of information I am looking for.

As to Gridcoin to BOINC is Mining Gridcoin - Rewarding Scientific Distributed Computing as well IMO.
Gridcoin is an open source cryptocurrency (Ticker: GRC) which securely rewards volunteer computing performed upon the BOINC platform in a decentralized manner on top of proof of stake.

Mining = hashing = verifying transaction on the block chain for a reward. If you want to make it a generic term of simply earning crypto for running a program you can. But I'll stick with its actual definition.

This is still the Question in hand in this Poll
"How many EVGA Folding and BOINC Team Members have moved over to Mining in 2017/2018?"
Not what is or what is not Mining, that is it is not crypto 101 in a since but I understand that some Miners and Crypto Members may not like this Thread asking what the Poll is all about and that is fine but please Vote or Don't Vote.
    Thank you.

I have never mined - I still crunch for Boinc 24/7 and fold on occasion. I was told that if you were to mine - now would be a very good time.

I guess you would run whatever project or projects that would pay you at a high rate of return in Cryptocurrency or Coin, so the fun I guess is making a little money.

For the most part PMs sent made it clear for me as to what is happening and why the Volunteer Force is becoming a thing of the past.
Giving away Computer Equipment and Parts to Team Members only so they can starting Mining is what do not want to see.
So it is best to not Volunteer older computer parts any longer.
Maybe after the Mining Force has become a thing of the past the Volunteer Force will return.

You do now have a GTX 1080 and that is a good card to Fold on if even only for the EVGA Bucks.

Unfortunately, I am home for only a week or two each couple of months. It's not just in regards to folding that it is unused. I don't think I would dare leave it running wide-open while I was gone. I suppose I could fold while I sleep for a week or two every couple of months; seems a little pointless though.

Re: How many EVGA Folding and BOINC Team Members have moved over to Mining in 2017/2018? 2018/03/08 11:43:42 (permalink)
Given the ability to earn Foldingcoin WHILE on the EVGA team, there is no "my switch to pursuing cryptocurrency - required it" to pursue cryptocoin.
Part of the basis of this poll makes a false assumption.

This is not to say that some folks have moved from Folding work into "pure" mining to pursue cryptocoins, just that there is no "requirement" to do so.

I spent many months time earning a LOT of cryptocoin THROUGH Foldingcoin.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

    @QuintLeo

The Point of the Poll was to get some input from members; about "Why the stopped activity with Team EVGA"

As active membership of  folding &/or Boinc on Team EVGA seemed to happen at the same time activity increased on "other teams"

If one chose not to stop their activity under Team EVGA --> the poll would not apply to them.

For every other possible reason, I added those answers: No - I stopped ------ under EVGA banner Because of other reason

Why is this posted in the Cryptocurrency section and not in the Folding/Crunching section when the point of the poll is "Why the stopped activity with Team EVGA" ?
