Hello peeps,

As i just bought this card (an upgrade from my 970 ftw2) but i think its not preforming as it should!
Getting low frame rate (the same rates as my 970 tbh) monitoring the card is shows low power usage.

Uninstalled P*X monitoring tool.
I done a clan install on my drivers, used DDU to remove all old drivers.
Done debug mode.
Set the settings to maximum power in the nvidia controle panel as in windows power settings.

My setup is:

Mobo: Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
CPU: AMD FX9590 (stock settings)
GPU: EVGA 1080 ti FTW3
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200W
RAM: 32 GB DDR3 2133 MHz
Running Win 7 Ult.
Also using 2 Screens a Samsung LED 22.5" Syncmaster BX 2250 and a asus ROG swift 27" PG279Q

Here are my results from different games and a score from fire strike. (all games are underpreforming in frame rate)

Fire strike score:

Monitoring in game On PUBG: average of 40-80 frames in city 35 ish almost all settings on low 2550x1440 (changing res fps stays the same)

Monitoring in game on CsGo: average of 120-200 frames

In Game screenshot of Project cars:

Any furter idea's?

Thx in advance!

Do you have a on screen display I am betting that AMD CPU is getting pegged at high ussage on a few cores and causing a bottle neck. But that's just a gusse I will look at your photo bucket imgs when I get home as they are impossible to see on my phone

I see them now before I just had to click on the blank spot for the picture and it took me to photbuckets website to view them. But now they are just on the fourms. But if changing res up or down doesn't change fps it's starting to sound like a bottle neck somewhere . Exspecailly if you didn't losse any fps turning on debug mode

They are showing up now. Looks like your fire strike score is a bit low. Stock 1080 ti's should score 29,xxx to 30,xxx on the graphics score. Set voltage & power target to max inside xoc to see if it helps increase your fire strike score.

I'll be the first to tell you this, your CPU is holding back the GPU by a significant amount. Depending upon how well a game is threaded will also affect your performance. Your screen shots show relatively low GPU usage. Your GPU score with a more modern processor would be closer to 30K and your CPU and combined scores would double.  Your system seems to be performing about as it should with the hardware you have based on other 3Dmark scores.

Yes, it never ends.  Though there are some relatively cost effective upgrades depending upon your preference for AMD or intel. The real killer right now is DDR4. It's more than doubled since I got my 32GB kit about a year ago. It does make a difference going with faster memory. I wouldn't go lower than 3200mhz. After that point the law of diminishing returns applies. So your wallet is the ultimate arbiter.

For gaming you want the fastest clocks.. near 5ghz would be perfect.

Your CPU is what's letting you down. Those older AMD CPUs that you have is very slow in terms of instructions per clock. The whole bulldozer lineup is actually pretty bad in this regard. Your are experiencing text book CPU bottlenecking. I'm afraid even overclocking your CPU won't help in any meaningful way.

The only way to really alleviate it is to move up to a newer Ryzen platform if you prefer AMD like the R5 1600 or higher.

Yep, the CPU is the bottleneck - PUBG and CSGO are what I've seen MANY people complain about not getting better performance in (especially with laptops and these full 10 series cards in them)... because they are CPU bottlenecked. As far as Project Cars, that's another game that benefits greatly from a fast CPU if I remember right.

Might not matter with a CPU bottleneck; but, run your FTW3 GPU on "Slave BIOS Position" for best performance

I knew my cpu was getting older now, and that an upgrade was bound to happen, but i hoped i could push it an other year or so, but what needs to be done, needs to be done.

So the upgrade is gonna happen a bit sooner.
