The Wifi standard WPA2 has a major flaw and could take years to fix completely.

A vulnerability in Wi-Fi encryption has sent the entire tech industry scrambling; the so-called Krack attack affects nearly every wireless device to some extent, leaving them subject to hijacked internet connections. In terms of scope, it doesn’t get much worse—especially for the Internet of Things.

The extent of the Krack fallout remains to be seen. Security analysts say it’s a tricky vulnerability to take advantage of, and major platforms like iOS, macOS, and Windows are either unaffected or have already been patched. But given the millions of routers and other IoT devices that will likely never see a fix, the true cost of Krack could play out for years.

    It's a pretty fringe vulnerability which is quite complex to leverage. I am not worried.

    Can't embed it. Don't know why. Mobile is breaking it for me or something. Maybe someone else can embed it.

    Basically, the attacker needs to intercept a specific message at a specific time shortly after a person joins a wifi network. Then, the attacker needs to force the client to join a fake network for a very specific and short period of time, and then kick the client off of the fake network and hope the process starts over again. And then the attacker needs to still decrypt, in order, all of the communication which follows without missing any messages. ... Kind of a pain in the butt and unlikey to be used against the average person.

    Yeah, I agree. I don't think there will be very many cases of this occurring.

    It is a low user case so I suspect it is not as severe as other vulnerabilities.
