Sounds good but hopefully the rumored ~$400 is not accurate!

You guys are so conditioned, I don't know what to say; you're happy with so little. Don't you guys remember Gulftown, Penryn or even older Pentiums? We used to get +50% overclocks with Nehalem and Sandy Bridge. Now you feel satisfied if you can get all cores to either match or marginally breach the max single-core turbo?
Intel might as well sell a very high clock processor that can't be overclocked further, but ya'll will still get it because it is the fastest. At that point, the overclocker will be dead, because you'd paid Intel to do the factory overclocking for you all this time.

I'm in the same boat. But I do find the $400 a little bit out of my spec. Let me just hope it comes at least a little below on the $400 range.

Hence "most people", it may not be for you, but if you're like me growing tired of quad core cpu's after having some sort of one for over 10 yrs, then I would still say it's reasonable.

My i7-860 nehalem is still holding strong. My biggest complaint is the toothpaste that intel is using under the IHS of newer CPUs and the fact they never implemented an eDRAM CPU option. Im hoping that one day the competition heats up even more so they start doing it right. Until then i am holding out as long as a new GPU gets me higher fps i see nothing forcing me to upgrade anything else....even my win7 ultimate.

Confused, if 4.8 is so easy, what is an extra 200mhz?
