Is it possible to use the new EVGA PRO 2 Way HB/High Bandwidth SLI Bridge - 40mm with a pair of 980 Ti's. Will they not work at all or is it that they won't give the extra bandwidth?

In this video it shows around 3:35 that the 980 ti will have no performance gains from using the HB SLI bridge. They were intended for the 10 series boards and will improve their performance in some games when configured in SLI.

That's helpful, thank you. The older, non-HB versions in that particular size are no longer available in the UK and only from other countries at ridiculous prices so I'm not too concerned about the higher bandwidth not being available (although it would have been nice). I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a risk of damage and that video confirms it.

Well, they are a nicer, beefier looking bridge but you just won't see any performance benefits from using one. They will make any SLI setup a lot nicer looking to anyone peeking into the side window of your PC case.

I've been using the EVGA bridges ever since they came out. I love them:

if yopur needing a new /nicer  bridge  and the cost is not in factor may as well go with the latest HB bridge  . that way if you do go 10 series or newer cards you all ready will have the better / for there use bridge  and not buying again ? [opinion]  just pull it off the 9 series right on to the 10or newer series and good to go   not going back to newegg / evga store and re-spending $$

good luck and enjoy
