I've resetted the mobo one time with the old card and again the new one, but the problem is still there.
Also connected a picoprojector to double check if the monitor got broken, but still no signal

Would do what Sajin suggests but I don't have more computers.
970 worked well until my first try to install the 1080. I don't know what could the 1080 to make the other one not being recognised. Not even resetting the CMOS

You can always take the cards to a local computer repair shop to have them tested.

Was the PSU cord removed when you removed or added GPU ?

Did you use an anti-static strap or what ?

Yes, first thing I do when removing a GPU is to unplug the PSU cords. And plug them back is the last thing I do when installing another GPU
I saw no sparks or anything unexpected (otherwise I'd think that could have been the problem). As previouly mentioned, all the hardware seems to work fine

I am contacting 2 different repair services in my city explaining all that has happened on the last 24 hours.
Waiting for any of them to tackle with this issue

Shinji78, you have a dual BIOS MB --- try the other BIOS position

Page 6 item 29 --- location

Page 24 --- BIOS switch directions

Also note to use Clear BIOS external switch --- PSU needed to be unplugged

Re: Brand new GTX 1080 installed and.... no signal 2016/08/16 15:50:10 (permalink)
Finally!! Fixed!!

I've got now my PC up and running... and with the 1080 installed and detected!!!

What I did was a last desperate attempt to reset the motherboard:

1-.Unplugged the PC from the electric source and removed the GPU
2-.Removed all RAM memories
3-.Resetted the CMOS using the jumper (using the CMOS reset button didn't work in the past)
4-.Plugged it back and turned the PC on. I was expecting no visible changes as some vital components (RAM, GPU), were removed
5-.Turned the PC off again and re-installed all the components. Tried with the old 970

You should have seen my face when unexpectedly I saw the 'press F2 to enter Setup' I FINALLY HAD SIGNAL!!

Then, I made sure to restore the optimal BIOS setup, saved and restarted
Once back in Windows I installed DDU to remove any GPU drivers before proceeding to install the 1080

Once DDU removed all the drivers from the 970, turned off the computer, removed the 970 and installed the 1080

Then it's been basically a usual process on finding the latest drivers, installing GeForce Experience, etc.

So finally made it!

Thank you so much for your help, advise, suggestions, etc. If any of you is near Glasgow, Scotland, send me a PM. I owe you a pint!
Really, I was absolutely frustrated a few hours ago, thinking that there wasn't any fix apart from buying another motherboard as not even a technical service could be able to fix mine.

I hope I've learned the lesson: do never install a new GPU until you have removed all the drivers and leftover files from previous GPU

THANKS

When I first built and setup my brand new pc and installed my Gtx 980 ti hybrid, I had to reset the bios to get it to work the for the first time before I did that I got no video signal everything was running but no video signal but After that, I got a 1080 and a plugged it in it worked seamlessly without having to reset the bios ?

Congratulations, great to hear you got it fixed :) I know these feelings when the PC just doesn't boot after building, it's terrible. I just got lucky and for me it is mostly caused by a missing cable and the troubleshooting process is more easy xD

Sadly, this didn't work for me. We have the exact same problem except I went from 660ti to a 980.

Congrats ... on getting yours to work

Also for other members:
If BIOS update fails to work, then you need to contact the MB Mfg & see if the MB is UEFI friendly
