There is a new Intel RAID ROM (11.5.0.1347) available. Any chance of a new BIOS? Please?

Do you happen to know if this is the one that finally supports TRIM in Raid?

billyash04 Do you happen to know if this is the one that finally supports TRIM in Raid? I cannot confirm that it is, and I cannot determine it does not. There is scant information available. If there were a way to measure TRIM, I suppose with a modded BIOS and the new RST, one might be able to evaluate it properly.

Even if eVGA is unwilling to accommodate us, there are members of the forum who have proven themselves equal to the task. Yes, it is unfair to ask them to step in to do what eVGA should not only be willing, but eager to do, but sometimes it is the only way accomplish the goal we seek.

Maybe if we complain enough again, something will get done like last time. Although, we are at the limits of OROM space, so I am not going to hold my breath.

The point is, we should not have to complain, eVGA should be out in front of this. loveha Although, we are at the limits of OROM space, so I am not going to hold my breath. Is the new OROM too large? Delete some of the useless crap in the BIOS to make it fit, then. I agree we most likely will never see another 'official' (as in; eVGA actually needed to put some effort and resources into it) BIOS for the X58 boards. I suppose I simply must accept no TRIM for my array, and let it slowly degrade until it dies.

The OROM is definitely not too large. EVGA fixed that a while ago, so any new OROM fits now. I've been running all the newer ones, including the latest 11.5.0.1347, but there has not been any confirmation if Intel added TRIM support for RAID. EVGA might be holding off until that actually happens and Intel releases an official 11.5 OROM. Personally, I don't think we will see another X58 BIOS.

UPDATED 9/21/2016 with latest available ROMsHere are the links to all EVGA X58 motherboard BIOS 83 modded by me with the latest available Intel RAID Option ROM 15.1.0.2545 (may or may not work with TRIM), JMicron RAID Option ROM 1.07.28, and Realtek PXE ROM 2.64 ( Marvell PXE ROM 6.6.2103 for 762 motherboard model). Mod tool used is CBROM v.198. The only BIOS I have actually tested is the E75783.bin file, which is for the X58 LE board. All BIOSes should work with these new ROMs, but I take absolutely no responsibility for any damage this may cause to your motherboard. Enjoy! All files can be downloaded directly from my Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1_E2jaFAbT2X1owTlVPcl9uc1E&usp=sharing

I would love a new raid rom as much as anyone else but i believe the 11.0 RST is for Sandy bridge and later. I don't believe the X58 has the ability to use it. its not even listed as an available download on intels site.

There are features in the newer OROMs (11.x) that only Sandy Bridge can take advantage of, but they all work just fine with the X58 boards. The TRIM support for RAID in the latest OROM/driver combo should apply to all newer chipsets (ICH7 and above). At least, that's what the driver can be installed on.

Try 11.5.0.1149, the whole software package, not just the driver. That should work just fine. I had the same error when I manually installed .1153 this morning. Keep in mind that 11.5.0.1149 and newer drivers use the same architecture as the enterprise drivers for the X79 chipset, meaning there are now two IASTOR files and all drives will show as SCSI in device manager. Also, single drives in AHCI mode will show as removable. Not a big deal, but definitely a change.

And, with the RST causing Windows to detect RAID arrays as SCSI devices, I am trying to confirm that Windows 7 will not pass the TRIM command to the drives. So far, my efforts with Microsoft TechNet are getting me nowhere. And, I am having difficulty getting an Intel forum account set up, or to find anywhere else to ask Intel about TRIM on RAID under Windows 7. Should anyone have further insight with regard to RAID TRIM in Windows 7, please post here.
