Hello,
while the cooler is certainly not terrible (on par with Palit Gamrock 1080, which was praised for its performance), it's not exactly Gaming X/Strix level.

I know EVGA lets you change coolers, but will any of them actually fit the SC2? Someone told me that custom solutions only fit the Founder Edition cards.

I'm thinking about these:
- Arctic Accelero Extreme
- AIO (I think EVGA also makes those?)

Cheers,

I considered an Arctic Accelero Extreme but decided on a Raijintek Morpheus II Core for a Titan Xp. It didn't make good contact with the processor so I took it off. Now it has an EVGA Hybrid on it and is doing well. I'm waiting for Raijintek to answer my question if they're planning an adapter kit. I believe the SC2 and Titan Xp should use the same cooler fitting.

so EVGA hybrid AIO cooling does fit, right? The external one? as long as there are aftermarkets that actually can be installed, I'm happy. I got the card really cheap and I consider using a different cooling because even with card+cooling it will still be a cheaper 1080Ti than others atm.

I only hope that Volta GPUs will be compatible... I wish I could buy a cooling that fits SC2 and Founders at the same time...

I'm always using all my cards with Raijintek Mopheus II and 2x Noctua NF-S12A PWM. The fans are controlled by my motherboard and are fixed at 400-500rpm (35%).
I don't use cases, am using test benches from dimastech.
Here is my old thread with some pictures:
    https://forums.evga.com/W...1080-FTW-m2485058.aspx

Here some pictures with my new FTW3, its not mounted on my dimastech nano at the time. Am still testting.
One thing to say, the temperatured never go over 50°C with fixed 400-500rpm when gaming for 2-3 hours. Its impossible to hear the fans even with my ear close up.
You will need smaller spring loaded screws to keep the original front and backplate. And you want to keep them as EVGA did a great job cooling VRM and VRAM with them.

Compared to this solution every stock cooler and water cooler suck. I can game hours and hours and will never hear my PC and temperatures are always around 40-60C° with my large ultrawide (3840x1600).
But I have to say I never used it inside a case, so cant say anything about temperatured inside a case.

thank you guys. If you know of a cooling that can fit both 1080TI FE and SC2, please let me know!

If I buy an aftermarket cooler, I'd go for Founder editions from now on and swap them, but if SC2 and FE aren't compatible... that's going to suck.

You should also be able to use the NZXT Kraken G10 or G12 with these cards and a number of different closed loop AIO water coolers such as Corsair, nzxt kraken, Arctic, and others. Similar concept as the Arctic accelero.

Maybe they think we have a prototype of the Volta ?

Well, that means an external cooler is likely to last only 1 generation of cards... which kind of sucks, considering its price. Even arctic accelero xtreme isn't that cheap (80 EUR IIRC) and if you're expected to buy new one each gen... well, you can as well skip it and buy an Asus Strix. :C

Thanks for the posts, guys! much appreciated. Happy to see that I have some options, but I think I'll pass on exchanging the cooling at this point. Too expensive for something that's a one-time use.
