Looks like the sun is actually shining today here. What a rare sight this time of year. I’m gonna take it as a sign for good queue movement (queuement?) today Positive thoughts to y’all 👍 Edit: complete opposite of Enewts musing lol. Well I guess that means all our bases are covered then right?..........uhhhhh right? 😉

Any such products you’re aware of? Never having dabbled with liquid cooling, I wouldn’t even know what to look for as far as product descriptions. Thanks CptT95
kissTheApex So. How bad of an idea is it to run one of the HC cards with an hybrid kit and not a dedicated water block (I.e., no custom loop)??
It would be better to buy an integrated pump/rad unit and small reservoir then that

I'll say something. The only reason I am here is because back in November my kid knocked over a full glass of whole milk while playing CS:GO and enough of it dumped through tower's top exhaust fan ... through the gfx 1080 and all over the mobo/ram and power supply. We both cried lol. Replaced the fried PSU, cleaned it up. Everything came back up EXCEPT the gfx 1080. Worst timing ever to spill a glass of milk on a gfx card Maybe we'll be able to buy MSRP gfx card by summer.

SirKronan an old Rosewill case that is enormous and quite long in the tooth
Lemme guess... Thor V2?
Close!! The good ol' Rosewill B2 Spirit. It's enormous. We have definitely evolved with a lot of the details since then when it comes to cable management, airflow, dust filters, and fan installation. For example, who the heck thought it was a good idea to have the very long bottom dust filter to be removed OUT THE BACK for cleaning??? mkiefert Has there been any movement on the 3080 XC3 Gaming or Black ever? I'm in the queue from 9/16 and 9/17 respectively and am officially convinced EVGA misled us by announcing these SKUs.
I hoping EVGA start moving those sku's. I'm in the same queue day as you, the 16th for the XC3 Gaming. I've been without a decent gpu since late November.... Darn GTX 1080 decided to die on me and been using an old mid ranged gpu from over 6 years ago to get by. Been prowling for something...anything decent..... The whole situation sucks, and I'm not giving into the scalpers.

OMG dude we have had some bad luck with our 1080's dying in November ..... during this whole gpu shortage debacle ....

I’m guessing this comment is for me. My reasons are purely based on my position in the queue(s). The earliest queue I got in to, is the hybrid on 2/18. I think we can agree by the time I receive my notification, it will easily be mid to late summer... at this point I’d rather pay a bit extra to get the card in hand as long as that extra does not go to scalpers.

Yikes! I'd guessed the Thor because I got one not long ago. The thing is massive and barely fits under my desk, height-wise. But the giant side fan and all the space in there dropped my 3080 temps a good 10C versus my old case so I can't complain.

Funny tidbit of the day. I’m off work today, as you can tell from the increased post frequency, so I said to myself “self, go check what’s going on at micro-center!” So off I went knowing full well I’d see no stock at all.
I got there 15 or so minutes before they opened and got to the store doors just in time to catch the store manager’s announcement saying “Folks, if you’re here for an RTX card, I have NO stock! People had camped out pre-dawn, and as soon as our delivery arrived (8:00 am-ish) we’ve given them vouchers and asked them to leave not to crowd the entrances. And just so you know, we received a grand total of FIVE! Rtx cards today!”
I asked, to make sure I understood correctly that they received 5 total, no matter what the individual models are, and was told “yes. Total of 5 cards of varying manufacturers, and of varying chipsets”.
So, as long as EVGA’s auto notification system is netting 125+ RTX cards a day, they’re doing better than all the manufacturers and micro center stores in the US combined. 😂
Back to regular programming. And do remember to cut back on the salt on your popcorn. We get enough of it through the thread. 👀

Thanks for the report from the trenches. I wonder how many of the five were Zotac?

Didn’t think of asking them. A follow up question, if I may, what is the deal with Zotac? Problematic cards?

I actually haven't done a great deal of research into them. There were a bunch of memes at the 30 series launch that suggested they were on the lower end of the scale, but you'd have to check the reviews. I always was targeting EVGA, so I didn't look too closely at them.

Probably the most undesirable brand being sold in the US. Their warranty is like Nvidias where only the original owner gets it and its non-transferable. Apart from that, I dont have anything else to note as I myself have never personally used one. Even clients get that "deer in headlights" look when I mention Zotac as a brand.

Zotac cards are decent enough if you don't plan to overclock them. I wouldn't buy one though, for that reason.

There was a number of crashing issues with Zotac 3080/3090 cards early into the launch. I assume they've gotten it worked out by now that you only get one chance to make a first impression. Edit: To be clear, it wasn't JUST Zotac cards but they seemed to be disproportionately affected and came up a lot in the conversation.

Terrible name, Zotac... just sounds cheap. I have a theory that they were absorbing the bottom binned chips from the other AIBs during the Sep-Oct months, since they routinely had stock drops when others did not.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine got a Zotac card last fall (it's what was available) and hasn't had any problems with it. A "greater than average" number of issues is still a distinct minority of customers affected.

So the 3080 and 3090 HCs are supposed to drop today. If you were in the first tranche from November, get ready to check your in-boxes! Sounds like they won't have enough to service the full first tranche, so the auto-notify button is unlikely to be relit today. If you are in the first tranche, good luck today! For the rest of us, at least we are seeing some progress on the hydro coppers!
