enewt It has been a pretty quiet day, other than JacobF tweeting that the queue should expect the 3080 HC to drop later this week or next week. Hopefully this bodes well for the 3090 as well (the K|NGP|N HC is "further delayed"). As a reminder, the auto-notify button for the 3080 and 3090 HCs was lit for approximately 25 minutes back in November -- long enough for a tranche of registrations to snap up EVGA's anticipated launch drop for those skus. The cards were subsequently delayed...so when the drop does occur, EVGA will be sending out "invite to purchase" emails to the limited number of registrants that were lucky/smart/fast enough to click through during that short window. If past is precedent, once EVGA has essentially completed service to that first tranche, they should relight the "auto-notify" button for the additional registrations (EVGA took this path for the 3080/3090/K|NGP|N Hybrids which all had a first, limited tranche before the "auto-notify" button relit and stayed lit). Hopefully, in addition to the HCs, the drops will fall upon the other thirsty queues of our community. Hope springs eternal. As of 7:15 pm PT Monday, March 8, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of March 8; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement from the prior report): Card SKU Auto-Notify Timestamp / (Change from Previous Summary) Ultra 3090 FTW3 Ultra 3987 10/15/2020 17:21:07

You mean how many do I think are in the queue already? If the Kingpin and Hybrids are exemplars, I would guestimate about 250 registrations per sku. Again, no way of knowing, but that would be my best guess. And I would anticipate that EVGA wouldn't drop to the queue until they had enough inventory to satisfy the full tranche of registrants. Bottom line, when the HCs do drop, I would anticipate that EVGA will relight the "auto-notify" button for that sku(s) around the same time. Starting in early December, EVGA has been pretty good about giving advance notice as to when the auto-notify button will turn back on. CptT95 btw what time during the day did the Hybrid notify button light up back in december?
9 am PT as I recall.

This is actually a rather good Monday, from what I've seen. Some good movement on multiple SKUs. If today is the lull before the storm, then I am really looking forward to tomorrow!!!

I wish I would have known when I signed up for the queue that they simply weren't going to make any of the one I signed up for to sell directly to customers. That would have been a good thing to know... 167 days ago.

Of the choices, which would you prefer? A) 3080HC + a good tube kit B) 3080ti Go with the first option and you are going to be out $1400. Good tube kits are not cheap. The second option will be about the same if the 3080ti retails for $1300..... which is quite possible given that it's predecessor retailed for $1200. If I had to pick between the two, it's an easy call. I would go with the ti. I have considered both options over the past three months and am leaning towards neither, especially if the 3080ti ends up costing that much. Past history doesn't lead me to believe that it will be THAT much better than a 3080 FTW hybrid. Better, sure, but $400 better? With that much extra loot I could buy one of those 12Gb 3060 clunkers and put it in a rig that I'm planning on building for one of my kids as a Xmas present.

If your pc is already watercooled, Id go with the HC card. If not, go with the 3080 ti on air. Unfortunately given how small the gap between the 3080 and 3090 now is, there isn't too much room for the 3080 ti to move. I'd imagine the 3080 ti is just a 3090 without its 24gb and Nvlink.

+1 , also by far the 3080 is the super star of this series unless nV raise the price for it exceptionally, get the FTW3 Ultra + liquid cooling for it, u won't regret it.

So. How bad of an idea is it to run one of the HC cards with an hybrid kit and not a dedicated water block (I.e., no custom loop)??

Not that bad, just not smart money wise. Youre buying a specific card meant for watercooling so youre already paying a premium. You're gonna take off the block you paid extra for and spend an additional 130$ on the hybrid kit?

It would be better to buy an integrated pump/rad unit and small reservoir then that

Yes for six fittings, if you do not want to put a drain in your loop and if you are planning to use soft tubing.

Has there been any movement on the 3080 XC3 Gaming or Black ever? I'm in the queue from 9/16 and 9/17 respectively and am officially convinced EVGA misled us by announcing these SKUs.

kissTheApex So.
Yeah, my ignorance is showing. I wasn’t aware the card came with a block, I thought the custom loop meant having a separate block. What I’m trying to do is to get the card and trying to avoid setting up a dedicated water cooling loop. Like an AIO that plugs directly into the card’s connections. What would be needed for such a set up?
