I got nada from the BB drop... again. I really hope eVGA got a decent shipment in over the holidays - this is just ridiculous at this point and then if the tariff bump hits? Ugh. I'm guessing those tariffs will get changed/dropped in a few weeks though.

I wouldn't go cancelling your queue registrations until that card has arrived in your hands, has been put in your case and run through some preliminary paces to make sure that you don't have a bad card.

Oh absolutely, I'm just trying to figure out how much excitement to show when I tell her I got it ordered. :) Don't want to get her hopes up too much if there's a decent chance Best Buy will cancel.

I would avoid it even if it's not much more money. You would lose the EVGA warranty. EVGA only honors warranties from authorized retailers.

Just say no to scalpers. If people stopped buying from them, there wouldn't be a market for a scalped cards, so F NO.

Somehow I managed to snag a card this morning for the BB drop. I'll be waiting to remove any notifies until I have the card in my hands. But I'm stoked! It just seems like they have inventory but it's scattered around the US. Each drop is probably a few cards in a few locations unfortunately. Sorry to those who still haven't been able to get a card. It's really rough.

Looks like you changed your original post, I thought you were asking about scalpers in general, but I see you changed it to B and H. It doesn't change my answer much as I have had issues with B and H in the past and avoid them now. And I see they are no longer an EVGA authorized reseller https://www.evga.com/products/wheretobuy.aspx So yeah I would avoid them, especially if they are charging more than MSRP. Unacceptable.

Just some unsolicited advice...If you can, do a few benchmarks...run the card through its paces for a bit...before you cancel your queue registrations.

The problem people forget a lot of the time is everything in the system also draws power, and depending how fast you run your fans, that adds up quick too... I would love to see what just my non-GPU/CPU draw is on my system personally. 2 SSDs, 2 HDDs, 2 M.2s, 4 sticks of RAM, 17 fans (all with LEDs on them, most of which are on), CPU AIO pump... I think even a conservative estimate would put that well over the 150W range total. The closest way I could check is running just the system at idle with only my system plugged in to my battery backup & seeing how much it's drawing from the wall... I'd be surprised if it's less than at least 100W.
Granted, most people only have like 4-6 fans, but still, it adds up. Always better to be safe than sorry.
I also look at it this way: You're spending how much on a CPU? How much on a GPU? And you don't want to spend a bit more to ensure you have ample power & voltage for those parts because... why? The PSU is literally the heart of your system, don't skimp on it. The power spikes that happen on draws from the 3080/3090 are no joke, lest we forget, OCP has been tripped with these cards on 750W PSUs on the regular, and if your PSU is suspect, it may not survive such an event, and it may or may not take several components with it.
I have always looked at PSU at 60% of the rating. So a 500w is good for no more than 300w. Just a rule of thumb I have used over the years, as HDDs became SSDs then M2s I am sure the boot up surge of power has decreased these days, the price difference is usually no much so still use that as the starting point. I have 6 Fans, 2 HDD, 2 SSD, and a M2 atm with a 3900X CPU, with 32Meg of RAM. 850w Plat PSU So a 3080 I would feel fine putting in, as that is about 500w, a 3090 should be fine, but if I was doing the work where that made sense to buy it, I would feel better bumped up to a 1000w unit. The system is used mostly gaming, with a bit of 3d modelling for Sci-Fi buildings and ships, the 3080 or 4080 will be all I need, used a 970 until I got the 3070 which is a stop gap to an 3080/Ti/??. My roommate gets the 3070 as soon as I upgrade. I skipped the 20's and had planned to skip the 40's though at this point who knows which will be here first. So I agree do not skimp on the power delivery system, as PSUs do not normally die, but fluctuate, or the current starts to wobble a bit, just not worth the risk, to say 40 bucks on 1500+ dollars of hardware.

A gpu in the hand may be better than two gpus in the slow-moving queue. If the price hasn't been increased yet for the Best Buy cart card, that may be another consideration. Best of luck!

There were no drops yesterday. so I'm in a conundrum got the Nvidia 3090 in a cart on Best Buy but I'm waiting for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra
dont know what to do lol
Even in cart they may not allow you to buy it.
The needs to be allocated to a store within 250 miles of you.
yeah, it's 5 miles away and will be available 1/9, but i think I'm gonna just let it go
