So if I just joined the auto notify queue today, I might as well buy a lotto ticket because I have a better chance of winning that then getting a video card? 

The difference between the two is that you WILL get a card eventually when the queue catches up to you. Winning the lotto is far less likely lol.

Wife gave me the green light to replace my 7+ year old gaming laptop. Was going to try and build a new desktop with some sort of 3070, but not sure now with the supply shortage. Might have to go with a pre-built and hope for the best. 

Get yourself on the auto-notify list for now anyway, and you can put yourself in for multiple different cards - there is no commitment to buy any of them. If you decide to update your laptop instead, I usually buy from XoticPC.com, they have pretty good service and plenty of customization options for memory, drives, CPU etc. so you're not stuck buying something that is not exactly what you want.

if you don’t have enough PCIE you could always use a Molex to PciE converter cable. it’s what i will be doing as i need one more for the 3080.

Merry Xmas to me, as Best Buy shipped my XC3 3090 Ultra! Still not closing out my slots until it's physically in my case, but my wait (for a card, anyway) is nearing its end.
 
Hopefully there's a final drop of cards today ahead of the holidays, but just be warned that any order placed after 2pm Pacific today will not ship until January 5th.

The 2020 Battle With the Bots™ has been humbling to say the least.  I've certainly lost more than I've won (I claim an AMD cpu victory from Newegg (it was a bundle...does that count?!?) as my sole achievement), and at times my spirits have been brought low. 
 
But today is the day that collectively, we turn it around. 
 
Today, we take the battle to them. 
 
Today, we secure our cards from the queue and retire to the quiet confines of our man- and woman-caves to live out our remaining months (of this gpu cycle) in relative peace...gaming past our bedtimes, and before we break our fasts each evening and morning, and -- for some lucky hobbits -- throughout every minute in between. 
 
It has been an honor to walk the wall with you, to keep your company on our watch. 
 
But, if I am being honest, after today...when we reconvene the watch in 2021...I hope we are fewer in number...and that many of us...nay, most of us...are home, safely ensconced in front of our (hopefully) cool, well-ventilated gaming rigs, engaged in interactive entertainment experiences that make all of this...the 95+ days we've been out here in the cold...WORTH IT.

Lessons learned.  Let's just pretend that those amounts ended up funding @EVGA_JacobF's bonus...or at least a drink or two for his team at the EVGA holiday party.  That's about the best spin I can put on it.

Yeah, I'm sad that I found out about the queue too late.  It's still 3 months back, for me, since I found out on the 13th, and I doubt it'll ever even make it to the end before this ends.

I would rather it be quiet...too quiet...then for just one person to announce an invite to purchase email.

I'm a minute and change (1:03) ahead of where the 3080 FTW Ultra Hybrid currently is.  It's my only hope as I'm 9/20, 9/26, 12/16 for all other 3080's.
EDIT: read the wrong line... I'm actually 6'ish + minutes ahead (not 1:03)... oof

My wait is finally over the RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra, as I received my notification today and ordered. I'm hoping the overnight shipping comes through and can have it tomorrow for Christmas Eve / Christmas.

I've been one of the lucky ones to be able to grab three cards so far through this system, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra (sold to a friend), RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra and now RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra.
