Didn't see this posted here yet so here's some good news:
Tried to post a link but it didn't work so I'll paraphrase the title:
"500,000 Nvidia graphics  cards found in an abandoned container"
apparently someone screwed up and misplaced an entire can of cards!
These should be injected into the market soon.

Dang. I auto notified on 12/20 for a 3080 Hybrid. I have a feelings it's going to be quite a while until I get an email. I've got a PS5/SX/1080 ti to hold me over but I'm absolutely dying to upgrade.

Strange times we live in where you can't even give companies money for a product anymore.

Um...that's an obvious fake. 2 seconds of Google image search will get you the unphotoshopped image of boxes in a shipping container (without the Nvidia logos).

Finally got my new build put together last night. Sadly I'm having to use my brother's old AMD 5700xt for now, but don't worry. I'll be putting an EVGA 3080 in here as soon as I can get one.

Any idea why many posted images appear with a "denied" icon?

Just one last effort by 2020 to deprive us all of experiencing some gaming goodness.  I am sure the images and the build are stunning!

why am I here knowing no cards are going out until next year?

I have been asking myself the same question...."I am just a boy, standing in front of a card...asking it to...drop for me."  [Apologies to Notting Hill.]

Well all, I think my time on the wall may be over (as enewt says).  I'm fairly certain I just scored a FTW 3080 and when I have it in my hands, I'll be stepping out of the notifies in hopes that one of you fine people has a chance at one earlier than if I had not.

I wish I could've used one of your codes but couldn't and could not let the opportunity pass me by.

Edit to add: I'll come back by with notify removal confirmation once I know I'm set with the card I just bought.  I won't leave you all hanging. :)

But me queueing 30s on December will not get me a card until 3rd or 4th quarter of next year. 2022 doesn't sound too bad now. 18 thousand cuda cores for $800 to $1000 price range is worth the wait.

Concur, the rumors says there will be a 8nm refresh in 2021. Which I assume will be the SUPER variants before Lovelace kicks in.

I'm with you. I just read a TON about how the cards are made. Oops. Accidentally gained some knowledge.

It's likely we'll get 2 "refreshes", one will be the 3080 Ti led one, then maybe the kind like we got with the GTX 480 vs GTX 580 etc... And then the smaller micron stuff in 2022.  I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see.  As long as AMD keeps pushing forward in non-RT performance and gets their stuff together to put up a better fight with their next generation of RT-stuff, it will continue to push NVidia forward, hopefully, and give us a nice choice of products and some solid competition at all price points.

I don't think so, nVidia Experience will check for new drivers and let you know if you need any, with 3000 series I assume you will need the latest driver, it will auto download or you can do it yourself.

I would recommend using DDU to wipe the old driver when jumping between architectures (Turing -> Ampere)

No, just do a clean install through GeForce. When you go to download/install the driver >custom> clean install.

That will do it for you.

What a fricking joke.
Nvidia cant even produce and bring to market the 3000 series and now you knuckleheads are salavating
over the next thing.
Nvidia is probably buying all the paper they can to launch it........
this is unbelievable.

You will hear many suggestions.
The easiest is to simply uninstall from the control panel and then install the new driver using "clean install".

Me, I generally uninstall from the control panel, then run DDU, restart and install the new driver.

Honestly, that's silly.
The driver is the driver, the software recognizes the GPU, has nothing to do with the generation of card you are running, as long as your GPU is listed
as being supported in the release notes.
That being said, when new GPUs are released, they certainly will not be supported by a 6 month old driver (except currently, where it will be 6 - 12 months from release of the 3000 series before we can buy one!!), thus the need for installing a new driver, however you wish to do it.

I dont have software/driver/firmware knowledge by any means so this is just a follow up question for windows os install.  When you download the latest driver from nvidia - are all the driver variants of recent hardware bundled into the single nvidia download?  But based on what nvidia hardware is currently installed, doesn't part of the install, take the appropriate driver variant and install info in various windows registry. If the above assumption is correct, if you swap the hardware on the fly, do things in these registry entries get updated automagically?
Hence the reason for doing the uninstall and reinstall - to minimize headaches?

The process is to avoid issues with driver conflicts dude.

Sometimes in certain computers, the updates do not go smoothly and "garbage" from previous drivers somehow stay. Causing instability and performance loss.

The hardware will be detected and windows will update the related registries. The problem is that the older installation or drivers will also remain, which is technically "garbage" lingering that can cause issues.
Obviously its not always the case.
Hence why most people recommend to reinstall to make sure IT WORKS PROPERLY. Kinda like just avoid gambling and get it properly done.

These should be injected into the market soon.

Plot twist- They’re Atari 2600 ET cartridges in Riva TNT packaging

LOL

"found"
