Wow the notification time period went instantly (kingpin). It maybe was up for a minute at most

Surprised I am not, scalpers know full well they'll make $3k+ on these, and there were also a LOT of legitimate members that wanted one.

You mean $1k profit?  They aren't going to sell these things for $5k, are they?

Congrats to those that got their cards ^_^

Well atleast I got my PS5. It makes waiting for a 3080 a little bit easier.

That's painful to read. Especially when they use empty wording like "it may take a few more months for product availability to catch up with demand". That literally means nothing, because they have no way to know what the real world demand is. What they do know is what their supply is, which they refuse to share. So they could be supplying 5 GPUs a week, or they could be supplying 5,000 GPUs a week, we have no way to know. So it really sounds like absolute b/s to me, especially when they try to say that they're not to blame. There is no way they didn't anticipate there being a high demand for these cards, especially after they hyped up how much better they are over the 2k series, but they keep using the excuse "oh we had no way to expect this demand". I wish they would quit with these excuses because it's like pouring salt onto the wound. Just like every time I see an nvidia post on facebook talking about how great these cards are.

I've been saying exactly this for over a month, no way this supply issue will be sorted before March 2021 at least, glad we're getting confirmation. lol

So do you guys think everyone who was actually able to enter the notify this morning for the kingpin will be in the first round of cards on the 15th?

I do believe they're doing them same way they're doing the Hybrid cards I.E. everyone that got in queue this morning will get a card shipped on release day.

Go take a look at Amazon, was prowling there earlier today and saw some 3090 cards for between 5-6k from various sellers.
This is why I wish that companies would take scalpers more seriously.

I just counted 34 3090's on Amazon starting just under $2k.

Times are changing. If nothing else, the market for over-priced cards is shrinking. A couple weeks ago any 30-series card wouldn't last for more than a few seconds. Now they are sticking around.

Where are you seeing them for 1100? I just scrubbed amazon almost all of them are 1300+. On ebay they seem to be selling for ~1200 for EVGA,

I still won't purchase a card that is above it's MSRP. Looking on Amazon right now, though maybe its different for me, but most of the 3080's I'm seeing at 1.5-1.8k

I got the shipping notification from Walmart saying my RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra shipped.  Double checked with FedEx and the package has arrived at their location in Georgia.  Scheduled for delivery on Sunday.

It's probably a bit premature to say this, but I've been waiting for 2 months to say it, so I'll let Jon Snow say it.

I got mine too with a Sunday delivery. I really wanted a 3080 ftw, but a 3090 will have to do lol. I got a notify for a 3070 ultra today that I was going to take for a step up to a 3080 and decided to pass since I got my ship notification from walmart.

What time was your notification for.

And is this the 3080 or 3090.

Yeah I heard that on the call (I own stock).  Not really surprising and doesn't really change what we've all been doing the last month.  It just means don't expect things to really get any FASTER until next year.  But y'all pretty much already knew that didn't you?

Apologies for keeping the summary brief tonight, but it was a long week.

As of Friday evening, here is the state of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from Thursday night’s summary; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of the movement):

*  One source reported a date/time stamp of 10/06/2020 at 10:15 am.  If true, that would comprise a big jump that we would normally see with a “sizable” drop.  Given that today’s drops appeared to be straggler cards from prior days’ drops, this data point is likely an erroneous outlier.  Hopefully we will know Monday morning when we are scheduled to receive a massive drop across all card models (a guy on a cold, cold wall yearning for his watch to come to an end can dream...right?).  I would obviously love to be wrong on this being an errant data point.

Today was notable for finally breaking into the 3070 XC3 Ultra drops!  While we celebrate this achievement, we note that it comes at a shared expense, most notably the dragging of dragomirc by the EVGA Drop Master.  @dragomirc, we salute your sacrifice.  [Seriously, I really hope Monday brings you some good news on this front.]

Have a great weekend.  Get outside.  Reintroduce yourself to your family.  Beg forgiveness from your pets.  Call your parents.  Be safe and stay upright.

We go again on Monday!

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2020/11/21 00:04:13 (permalink)
I can't believe I finally gave in and got a Twitter account. Why? Because there is no other way to get the most current info about card drops. I'm going back and forth right now about whether or not I should buy an air cooled 3080 even though it's not the card I really want. I'm less than 2.5 hours away in the queue for a 3080 FTW Ultra. That means I am most likely 1-2 drops away from getting an email. Probably the latter unless there is a HUGE drop around Thanksgiving week. I'm thinking early December, but this is where things get dicey. The queue for the 3899 (the card I really want) is supposed to open up in December. If I can get on that queue before I get my 3897 email all will be right in the world. If the hybrid queues open up later in December I will be, well, you know, it begins with an "f" and ends with a "d".

If anyone hears anything about hybrids and what the queue process will be like, please PM me. I don't want an air cooled card, but I also don't want to let it go if all I end up doing is chasing rainbows made of 3080 HC's that never materialize. I don't like these open-and-shut queues where you have to be ready to tap keys on the keyboard between 6:00:00 and 6:00:47 AM or you're a$$ out. I don't care if I have to wait until March to get a 3080 HC. I just want to get on a queue so I know that one will come to me eventually. Also, it seems dumb that they would make such a limited number of them that only about 10% of people who want one can ever get one. You would think they would at least satisfy the initial demand. I have heard rumors that the hybrids will be sold in very limited quantities. Why? Again, seems dumb when the goal is to make money.

Surprised I am not, scalpers know full well they'll make $3k+ on these, and there were also a LOT of legitimate members that wanted one.

You mean $1k profit?  They aren't going to sell these things for $5k, are they?

Go take a look at Amazon, was prowling there earlier today and saw some 3090 cards for between 5-6k from various sellers.
This is why I wish that companies would take scalpers more seriously.

The difference is Amazon charges per month to sell, on top of their fees based on what the item sells for.  EBay the only thing the seller pays is EBay fees which is 10%.  Also, I seriously doubt people are paying that much for a 3090, scalpers on there are just hoping they get lucky.  3090s sell for around half that at most (on Ebay).

On a side note AND STILL - my Thermaltake 280mm AIO once again beats yet another potential replacement... put the Arctic Freezer II 420mm in my system on arrival... first of all, it did not mount to the front, tubing just slightly wasn't long enough, so that's annoying in of itself, but I mounted it up so it was stabilized, ran it as is (not push pull) to see what temps were like, they were not impressive at all, so I put 3 more fans on it to run push pull... and still, not even as good as the Thermaltake unit...
So I'm returning yet another AIO, hopefully Amazon doesn't ban me for returning too much stuff (and yes, they do do that, I've heard it from several people), but I cannot justify spending that kind of money for worse performance, and a 420mm AIO is too large to try & resell with how few cases it will actually fit in.
Guess I'm gonna have to go open loop to get better temperatures on my CPU, cuz neither EK nor Arctic's best AIOs have beaten the one I already have.  Ridiculous considering the Thermaltake unit is a 2018 model, and both the AFII & EK AIO are newer designs with much newer pump designs (I believe the Thermaltake is an Asetek Gen 5)
