No, don't do that. "Rage Mode" is specific to the AMD gpu. Sorry, I couldn't resist. If you've been here since the beginning (9/16 and 9/17), then you know what happened this morning is par for the course. I do think the 3070 launch will start to spread out the demand considerably. AMD coming online in November will also help. We will all get a card. As frustrating and maddening as this is, we will get through it. And have a mostly boring story to tell our friends and family over holiday meals.

Quick reminder, if you are new to this thread with today's 3070 launch, I recommend you "auto-notify" for all the cards that could reasonably fit in your budget. Some queues are moving faster than others (Gaming Blacks, I am looking at you...[they are still at the starting line for both 3080s and 3090s]) and this approach may give you some flexibility if, as expected, the 3070 queues drag on in-line with what we've seen from the 3080s and 3090s. Good luck!

enewt... Finally, if you get a launch edition...save the shirt you receive. They will be a family heirloom one day: "Yes, granddaughter...come and sit by the fire. Let me tell you about the fall of 2020 when I sat by my desktop computer (what's that? I'll save that story for another time...) and hit the same key on a keyboard over and over again for more than a month until one day this nice company decided to have people virtually line up so that they could spend gobs of money on some gaming goodness. This t-shirt...it symbolizes the pain, frustration and anger...and ultimate redemption...of the Nvidia Debacle of 2020." Or something like that.
I received 2 cool eVGA gamer tee shirts when I bought my 2 480 GTX's (unless it was the 2 285 GTX's; definitely not the 2 8800's). Strangely enough I'm wearing it at work right now. I hope it hasn't worn out by the time I can get a new card!

I've been a gamer for more than 35 years; ridicule comes with the territory. If we had more time, I would regale you with stories of 5.25" floppy disks at swap meets and BBSs. If you haven't heard the 1200 baud dial-up modem tones (let alone 600 baud tones) and, in that cacophony, appreciated that your night was just beginning...then you haven't lived. Edit: comp07 I just finally got the read only version of spreadsheet to open.... Is it accurate that we are only around 8:30am-ish time for the 3080FTW Ultra? Sadly, yes -- we are a little past 8:30 am for that card.

Back in college my roommate and I would buy large boxes full of 3.5" HD floppies. Have memories of running a cable from my mac to his dos box because we could play warcraft against each other. The joy of getting a 14.4 modem then the pains of downloading from a BBS only to have someone in the house pick up the phone and drop your connection...ahhhh. Then the joy of having a fast connection in college where we would download everything we could find just because we could do it "fast" (compared to now though it was actually really slow!). Watching the first quicktime videos the size of a postage stamp in awe at this new tech that just blew our minds away at the time.

Sorry if this kind of question has already been asked -- late to the party here. So if we signed up on 10/21, how long are we thinking it's gonna take? A month? Two? Just curious, since some folks who signed up much earlier still haven't received their emails. I'm not on the spreadsheet, by the way.

slow88lx I wish we knew any numbers on production at all. It feels like these cards are being hand built. With, at most, 10-20 dropping in a single day. How they aren't coming out in batches of 1000-10000 boggles my mind. Even when there is limited availability of Playstation's or Xbox's or iPhones it's only because 10's of million's of people were lined up to buy 10's of millions of them. Are there even 10,000 30-series cards in the whole world? I have no sense of the scale.
They could be coming out in batches of 1000 for all we know. The issue is that EVGA gets a small piece of a big pie for it's in-house sales. If ALL of the cards were being sold in-house the queue would obviously be moving faster, but there would also be 50x as many people so it wouldn't make a difference. At least this way you won't waste your time throwing darts on Newegg hoping that you will get lucky and beat the bots (you won't). Unless you are using a bot I wouldn't bother with online retailers right now. It's a waste of time.

We should do a whole thread just giving oral histories of the early days of gaming. Or not. Some of those stories are pretty ridiculous. Thanks for sharing; I had similar experiences and your post brought a smile to my face. dragomirc I wonder how long will wait for 08G-P5-3755-KR 10/29/2020 6:00:55 AM It is freaking 55 seconds after official launch. The SKU page was up for a few brief moments yesterday as a test. At least two enterprising folks were spamming F5 and caught the "auto-notify" link. Then it launched around 5:59 am this morning. morenonet Sorry if this kind of question has already been asked -- late to the party here. You've got awhile to wait, I am afraid. Probably December (at the earliest) unless volumes increase dramatically. nickabughannam anyone know if this puts me close to day one? 08G-P5-3767-KR 10/29/2020 6:01:26 AM PT No
To be honest, we likely won't know until after the first full drop. And even then, because we don't have a well-populated spreadsheet for the 3070s...it will be a LOT of speculation (more than what we engage in here on the 3080s and 3090s on the regular). I would think that you are within the first 500 - 1000 people to sign up, for what that's worth. I hope you fall within the first day drop...that would be a good sign for the 3070 launch.

I saw that too. Four EVGA cards sitting in a pile. If they were launched today, how are they already in-hand? I have no idea how they're doing it, but I will not buy anything from ebay.

According to the spreadsheet, it's estimated I'll get my email sometime around January 8th (9/21, ~10pm). If that does end up being the case, at least it'll give me a chance to check out the 6900 XT benchmarks and availability. I know it's not EVGA's fault and I would totally buy from them if I switched to AMD, if they actually made AMD cards. I'm hoping you're right, though, and demand spreads out, decreasing queue times. I don't really want to wait nearly four months after launch to get a graphics card. This is insane.

I think EVGA's standard business hours start in 15 minutes or so. I would imagine we would see some emails (for 3070s or otherwise) before 12 noon PT. You will have 8 hours to complete the purchase, so not to worry. In the past, EVGA has said that orders received prior to 2 pm (might have been 3 pm) PT ship the same day absent exigent circumstances. Hopefully that helps calm the nerves a bit.
