Wow.....I really do miss Choplifter. Dumped many a quarter into the standup at the arcade and I really wish there was a decent PC version. Another quarter eater was DigDug and Gauntlet. I also forgot about playing Lemmings on PC....that was fun.

Have a good one!

Your comment led me down a small rabbit hole…I now have the 30th anniversary version of Boulder Dash in my steam cart. Will be purchasing later tonight. I loved that game way back when.

Is the salt gone? Hmm?

Choplifter was the first PC game I bought when I got a Commodore 64.  Not as good as the arcade.  Choplifter HD on Steam is pretty good.

Nick, I knew that if I didn't buy that 3655 last night you would get it, so you owe me.  newt clearly blocked you because you harass him, and therefore won't see your posts on any forum page.  Lighten up, Francis.
Unfortunately, there was a theft of EVGA cards last week.  I'm not sure how that will affect supply this week, but any loss can't be good.

Congratulations everyone who got a card today.  And please remember, don't queue angry.

I didn't get into that one. I did recently pick up Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri over at GOG though. I think I played that for almost 2 years straight when it first came out. Time for my nightly routine before bed.

Cheers!

I wanted to take a moment to toss a thank you to @Enewt. I got lucky and ended up with a few cards, not when my friends or I wanted them, but the cards we wanted eventually. I was able to get myself a prize possession, and get close friends some things that they get an opportunity to enjoy as well. Enewt has found creative, kind and funny things to say through out the year long doom scrolling by pages of salt. Frankly I count myself both lucky and patient while appreciating enewt as our volunteer conductor for this ride. In the end I got a K|ngP|n hydro copper, a 3080 FTW3 hybrid, a 3060XC Gaming, and a 3060xc black letting my whole crew upgrade our machines through the year. It also does not say that you cannot demand that the specific unit of card that you purchase shroud be made exclusively in white just for you.

I am sorry, but the salt water in me...it boils over.

EVGA shut down the additional registrations. (You had up to a year to register for the SKUs you wanted to consider purchasing.) Then EVGA announced a system to get a card into existing queue members that did not already have at least one card from the queue. That approach had unintended consequences that disadvantaged a lot of folks that had come to rely on the original approach of no more than one unit per sku (but that a purchase of one sku wouldn't preclude the ability to buy a different sku when your registration came up).

So the next day or so, EDGA rolled back the announcement and said that they were limiting everybody to two queues going forward (starting in approximately one week). They explained in their post that on the 11th the system would only consider your two oldest skus unless you had actively reduced to no more than two remaining queues as they were requesting. They sent an email to everybody that had more than two active queues. They dispatched their in-forum CS leads to answer questions (I've never seen them more active in the forums, for what it is worth). They talked about it on their Twitch live streams. The had a standalone webpage on their website about it. In my opinion, EVGA did what they could to get the message out.

But, to be clear, folks have never been allowed to change queues from one to another and all of the rest of the stuff you are going on about. EVGA gave us a date. October 11. To allow folks to switch and move stuff, delete stuff beyond their stated deadline would allow folks to game the system..."oh, SKU 3XXX is moving faster than SKU 3YYY, I am going to move to that one."  "Oh, I made a mistake and picked the wrong SKU, I am going to now switch to the queue that has already passed my registration date and claim that I missed my email and that they should send me a new one."

Nowhere have I stated that they have to give me a card, but at the same time if you were in a queue and it's literally been for all intents and purposes removed. The logical solution is to allow them to go into another queue especially if they were in the queue to begin with. And if swapping queues is the problem you legit just let people do it 1 time. And if it's that big of a deal only let them do it with 1 SKU. I literally haven't gotten a card from the queue either so ATM it's denying people who don't even have cards from getting them. I even did my diligence and fought through the damn server outages just to get into the 3080 TI queues on release day for EVGA members.

I had a total of 4 SKUs registered and the 2 I was left with are dead SKUs that I was unaware of, 1 of which was dead well before the time of the cut off apparently. Why am I even in queues for SKUs that are dead and it takes me having to research into why I haven't gotten an email after almost an entire year to even see this. It is not listed on the website anywhere that these cards are not being made anymore. (Yes, they are FTWs and XCs).

And for me there basically is not another option besides online retailers. Best buy does not sell any 30 series cards anywhere near me (It's a 2+ hour drive to a Best Buy that does). And Microcenter does not exist here nor any other computer part store for the matter. My only option is online.

You can understand why I am just a little salty. I have no options other than being scalped by 3rd parties or by retailers online and I was basically given the middle finger by support, then everyone is like "I got my card and queued just fine you should have too regardless of your life circumstances." Also doesn't help when the first thing you post is literally marked as spam before anyone interacts with it. When literally the simple fix is to see if I had a card, if I did say nope and if I didn't go sure you can move 1 queue but this is the only time. It's not even let me buy the damn card, it's let me move into a queue that actually is seeing products being sold. I wouldn't even mind being last in the queue if I gave up my spot by not responding. Just as long as I am in a SKU that actually has cards being sold.

Also don't take this as an attack at you or anything. It's more targeted at EVGA customer service than anything. I get you are trying to remain neutral here.

...snip...

To date, you have STILL not posted the SKUs and timestamps of your cards here.  It's at the top of the page, MY EVGA > MY NOTIFIES.
Highlight them all, copy the text, when you post them in here, right-click and choose Paste As Plain Text so it all shows.

Ok, we get it.  You're frustrated.  Everyone is.
When I started, I wanted a couple of 3080s for my wife and myself - for modest buids for to replace our 8 year old gaming PCs.  I queued on 9/22/2020 for the 3885, which looked liked my best bet to get "2 per household" quickly.  A week later, after reading reports every day about the shortage at launch, I queued for all the other 3080s.  Then EVGA announced the queue system in October 2020, and it was clear that building inexpensive gaming PCs was going to be a challenge.  So I queued for everything after that.  I went to work early so I could take a break when the queues opened.  And refreshed BB a milliion times a day.  And signed up for the babychickie shuffle every day. I got active on the forums looking for tips.  Eventually I got cards for us way above our budget, but at EVGA MSRP - which was fair enough.  I was lucky.  I could have bought and sold a dozen other cards, because I was able to get in at launch for almost every card and get notifies for many of them.
That's not "Yay for me."  That's a blueprint for what you will have to do to get a card moving forward.  Because guarantee this won't be the last gen of GPUs with queues and shuffles and scalpers and bots.

There will be more queues.  You still have the shuffle or manufacturer websites like ZOTAC.  How much work you want to put into getting a card at "MSRP" is entirely up to you.

With less salt come more possible help.  If you still are in the 4 queues with the oldest having the "true" and the two others which are newer but queues which are moving forward being "false" you can try and respectfully email the webmaster@evga.com if you haven't done so already.  I would request to them respectfully that you were not able to remove the two older queues in time because of work, but have been waiting for approximately the months you have been.  I would ask them to kindly remove those two "dead" queues from your list for you so you can be added to the others which are still moving forward with releases.  Sometimes it comes down to how you explain your situation and respectfully asking them for their assistance.  As long as you still have those other 2 queues still open as an option, they might be able to assist you.  I will share with you that I had a similar issue like yours as I was in the 3070xc3 queue with a time stamp on December 22, 2020.  When I initially removed my queues spots, I forgot to delete that one and it was left on my list.  I had three open queues but honestly I did not want that gpu anymore as it would have been for a friend who already got a 3060 stepped up to a 3070 TI FTW3.  When I found out I missed that one, I emailed customer service who said they couldn't help me, but when I searched the forum someone had mentioned to email the webmaster and respectfully ask for their assistance.  I explained my situation that I had missed removing that from the queue and asked them for their assistance.  They replied that they would help me this one time and one time only.  Before I had contacted their customer service or webmaster, I had deleted the queue spot for the 3070xc3 from my queue list but the "False" was still there for the 3080 that I had wanted.  This is why I emailed them to see if they could activate my queue spot again for that one.  I was lucky, but it also may have been the way I requested their assistance and that I didn't delete my queue position for that 3080 GPU.

I don't agree with going into another queue spot because you are stuck in a "dead" gpu queue, but if you can get removed from that one because of an oversight and reactivate an open queue spot for another gpu you are still in the queue for I'm hopeful for you since you have been waiting in that line as well.

I hope you with less salt are able to get some assistance with your issue.

The customer service line really isn't able to do much based on my conversations with them and through email.  It was only through the webmaster was I able to be fortunate to have someone help me out of the pickle I was in because of my error.  They didn't have to help me out, but they did for which I am thankful.

Re: EVGA.com 30 Series Queue System 2021/11/02 23:00:12 (permalink)
I can confirm that the webmaster is willing to at least listen to your case, as they helped me out of a queue error.

I will admit that I agree the wording of the announcements were ambiguous on the part of EVGA.  I also came away with the impression that you would be able to delete queues to change the active queue, but you could not add additional queues.

Why does my active status say "False"? I signed up on 10/14/2020 for a 3080 FTW3 ULTRA and have been waiting ever since. Is it supposed to say false?

This is completely not fair and doesn't make sense. People are happy the queue is moving faster not knowing it is moving faster because a lot of people like me didn't realize they were going to be taken out of their queue. There should have been a lot of consideration with taking this approach because a lot of use are stuck with old gpu that will probably never drop.
I'm sure bots have no problem with sms verification because getting a num is not that hard and they were probably the first to update their queues. All these attempts to stop "bots" are just stopping real actual people who are trying to get these cards.
I get tons of emails and I skimmed through that one, I remember only reading the sms part but nothing else. I didn't understand it then.

If you didn't read the email about the update, wouldn't you also have missed the time limited window to buy?

If you had two older queue spots still on your list then the system took your two oldest spots.  The instructions that were emailed out and posted to the forum informed people to remove their queue holds in which they were not interested in and that they would only be allowed to carry two queue spots moving forward.  If you have the two older ones, then those would show true.  You can only have two active queue spots from the date shared in the release.  Anything else will show false and basically you more than likely wont get those at all.

Fair comes from a person's point of view.  I'm sure those who are getting their notifies are really happy that the movement has been quicker for them.  Some of them have been waiting as long as you may have been so the changes to them are in their favor thus I'm sure they appreciate the change in the system.  There were many people with multiple queue spots on hold including myself to be honest.  What EVGA did was force people to choose which ones they really wanted and to limit people to 2 gpus queues.  They gave users about a week to make up their minds as to which queues they would remain in and to delete the others.  EVGA doesn't have to have the queue system and they posted the info about the changes to the queue system here and emailed to accounts who had spots in the queues.  EVGA can change the queue system to meet what they view are in the best interest of the company.  Not everyone was going to win no matter what they did.  If they continued to run the queue system how they did I believe many people would not be able to get a gpu because so many people had more than one queue spot.  By changing this rule, it loosened up many of the skus that were slowed by too many entries into the queue system.  Am I thrilled about the changes to the queue system, no as I would have had a 3080 TI FTW3 by now via the queue.  But each person needed to do their own research into which queues they wanted to stay in.  If you followed the release of the gpus through the many users who maintain the self reported lists you would have a good idea of which skus were moving and which were not.  You could see over time how fast they were moving or if they were moving at all.  Enewt and others often post movements of the skus each day to advise users who are waiting.  Visiting those forum topics would have provided you information very easily as to what would have been your best options.

Read through the posts about this and you might find solutions to help you.  Posting negatives will bring you much scorn from those who visit the forums or who took the time to read and understand the emails who made the time to adjust to the new rules of the queue system.

The thing is I have only signed up for a single card, the 3080 FTW3 ULTRA. I did receive a stock notification email but that was way back in November 5, 2020.. and that was an error. I received a follow up email an hour later after that email stating it was an error in their system and that I was still in my original queue position. I have not received any other email about my queue ever since and I have never received any sorts of instruction email about the 2 gpu limit.

If you never received anything, perhaps try reaching out.  I believe the webmaster email has been handling cases where there were errors.  There have been adjustments made in some cases.

Yeah I just sent them an email to them a couple minutes ago. Their website is so confusing and bad though. I had trouble finding the correct place to find their customer support without needing to register a product. Once I did find the support form at the bottom of their Contact Us page, it wouldn't even work when I clicked submit... So I looked on their Facebook page for a support email and just emailed that address. Hopefully I can get my issue resolved.

What card are you queued for? Are you in the NA queue or the EU queue?
