Zazz180 Hello, I have a similar story as MsKrissie. In fact, she's my wife. We both bought pre-built gaming computers within a month of each other, but unfortunately hers didn't last long. Our plan is to purchase a GPU so she can build hers first. Then, I will re-build mine, utilizing a few parts from my pre-built. I figure I'll salvage the CPU and SSD. I plan on getting a new graphics card, power supply and motherboard from EVGA for mine since my research has led me to believe this company is of great quality and is dependable. Dan
They have good customer service I have used them for more than 10 years. I am curious what prebuilt was bad? I have a few hp omen prebuilts with liquid cpu cooling and 3060 ti cards they are decent. I do like them over the alienware I purchased from best buy that one simply got far too hot so I returned it.
Hi Philipma1957, I hope you don't mind me chiming in. I'm sure Dan will respond later to your comment, but he's at work right now. I didn't state what computer went bad originally, because I didn't want to sound like I was bad-mouthing a company. (My grandmother always taught me if you can't say something nice...) However, since you asked specifically, it was a HP Omen 25L, 11th Generation, i7, with a RTX 3060. From the moment I got it, the temps of the GPU/CPU were always running hot. I believe it was also underpowered. It really needed a bigger power supply. It finally just started shutting off on me constantly. Three days before the 90-day cut off period for the return window, I called the company I purchased it from and they ran me through some diagnostics and had me do a power drain, uninstall the graphics card driver, and then reinstall the driver. After that, it worked--- for 3 days. Just long enough to get past the 90-day return window. Luckily, I spoke to a very understanding manager and he returned it as a lemon. So, that's the story of my first gaming computer. I'm a longtime computer user--- back to my first CPM80. Yeah, I'm really dating myself there. As a rule, I've purchased HPs for years and have always had great luck with them. However, I have always used computers in a work productivity environment. I'm very comfortable with computers and working with them, so I'm really looking forward to building my first one. All the best, K.
Glad you replied. The omen right now needs to have a platinum psu upgrade as an option and the cpu needs to be liquid cooled. When you go for your build here as diy try for evga gold or platinum psu's https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-GT-0850-Y1 $159 price pretty good psu cases, coolers, motherboards, ssds, cpus. so many kinds to pick from. Maybe someone else will chime in

The only non-LHR cards that are being made now are the 3090s.

Thanks for the recommendation, Philipma1957. The one I spec'd out, was originally the EVGA SuperNova GA 750w. Your recommendation is an upgrade, and totally worth the extra $20! I have updated my spec sheet. Also, I originally planned on installing fans into the build, but changed my mind and decided to go with a liquid cooling system. It is easier to install than I thought. I tore out a LC system this past weekend from an old computer and re-installed it with no problems. It gave me more confidence to go that route. As for my case, I already have that purchased. I bought the Razer Tomahawk ATX. (I hope I'm allowed to mention that on this forum) It is huge, but I love the glass panel swing doors on each side. I will start buying the rest of my build supplies once I can purchase the graphics card. I don't see any point in buying the other parts now and having them become outdated, as it may be awhile before I get the opportunity to buy a graphic card. However, in the meantime, it is fun to "virtually" build the spec sheet and plan it out. Have a great night, K.

Congratulations and thanks for reporting back to the community. Thanks also for using the code for your discount. Enjoy your new gaming goodness! My apologies for the late summary post tonight. enewt jr. had a birthday party to attend, and then soccer practice, and then a melt-down, etc. etc. etc. All in, today felt like a straggler day twice removed. And, for the week, reports were down overall...either fewer cards were distributed to the queues (likely) or I'm doing a worse job sourcing reports than in prior weeks (also a legitimate possibility). Please find time to get outside this weekend. Go for a walk, rediscover a local park, visit the zoo (Warning: NSFW)...just get away from the tech. A side benefit of the effort to obtain some natural Vitamin D may be that the reduced time you spend in front of your mouse and keyboard will become more precious. Have a great weekend! your request to be notified with availability updates for product 12G-P5-3953-KR and this product was marked as being in stock on 9/24/2021 at 10:52 AM PST Due to a extremely busy day at work. I missed the email and deadline until today. However I won a shuffle for the 3090 FTW3 Ultra. So either way I still got a EVGA product.

If you want the card from EVGA, just reply to the email you received (it should have come from ordernotify@evga.com) and EVGA should get you sorted out with a new invite in a day or three. Best of luck.

My watch is over! 3 months ago I got a 3070 ti from the Newegg shuffle. I saved it and enrolled in the step up program and got my 3080 ti Friday. I didn't post very much but I followed religiously and soaked up all the information. Thanks to enewt and everyone else for the updates and general information. I work quite a bit and I don't get to follow the news like a lot of others so this forum was a life saver. I never would have known about the step up program if it wasn't for you guys. Thanks again and good luck everyone!

Maybe someone else will chime in
the last 10 yrs, I've only had custom built computers. I like the option of having my own features instead of someone else's choice. I've bought EVGA P2 series psu's the last 5 yrs. and they are great. But with my new Ryzen 9 build. When I had to put in my new gpu (3070 ti), I had to up the wattage. No one had the platinum I wanted at a decent price. As graphic cards, and everything else, power supplies prices are high also. So I got the newer G5 850 psu. So far it's great. It's a lot cheaper than the platinum series.

@FighterGamer67 The G5 850 psu is what I was looking at. Is this model quiet? I see it has ECO mode. I noticed that EVGA also offers power supplies with slightly smaller form factor and fan size.

The G6/P6 series are the most recent series of psu, smaller then previous generations and quieter as well, not sure if it's in your budget though 🤔

Thanks for the tip. I have a feeling I'll have plenty of time to research.

N3M2A How do I find my spot in line ? And is the non Lhr ones even moving ?
The only non-LHR cards that are being made now are the 3090s.
is this the case for other AIBs apart from EVGA?

NVIDIA instituted this, so all chips shipped to AIBs are LHR except as noted, the 3090s.

I don't know about you, but I had a great weekend. Oh, enewt jr.'s team lost a nail-biter, Mrs. enewt and jr. had a knock-down blowout fight over cleaning, and the cat left me a hairball present which I discovered Sunday morning by stepping on it in the hallway. So, generally, not so good. But it was better than working...it was great! I hope you got out and had some fun in the meat-space. Late Friday, there was an additional report on two on the 3987. Otherwise, the summary remains the same as Friday afternoon. It is Monday. Go get your card! Best of luck!
