Systom massive amounts of new evga accounts incoming
As long as they're all in line behind me!
Yup. They can't cheat their way to win this time.
That's what I'm counting on. I clicked the notify link near launch date figuring it wouldn't work at all.
Yeah, I clicked the notification within a few hours of the cards being listed on EVGA's site. So I have to be somewhere within the first 5,000 people or so. Well, I hope that's the case anyway.
Yeah I clicked when the pages went up but I can only imagine how large a list this is. I’ll continue to check other sites while I wait.

ThirteenEra Everyone here is praising EVGA for this checkout process, meanwhile im a bit confused.
How exactly does this stop bots or scalpers?
If i were a scalper, i would just make 15 emails (in fact, i probably already would have 15 emails, because that sounds like something a scalper would have), and sign up for notify 15 times using bots.
I mean, i guess its good that the server doesnt die when new cards come out - now it will just die when their pages go up so you can sign up for notifying.
Note that i am NOT knocking on evga. This is still better than old setup. Im just genuinely confused as to why the internet treats this as some kind of magic solution to everything?
I assume EVGA already has been checking to see if an order has been made by a bot, but theoretically this can give them even more time to do various checks on an account.
With this system, it doesn't matter. We're all going to get a guaranteed opportunity to buy a card. Only the most desperate, impatient and foolish of people would buy from a scalper instead of EVGA at this point.
You'd already have to be a fool to buy from a scalper, but this isn't really going to give people peace of mind. Why? Because there is no indication on where you are in the queue or how fast the queue will go. It may be December before your email comes. Or it may be tomorrow. Who knows? That in and of itself is a problem and will result in people continuing to burn the midnight oil trying to score a card from a partner.

Cerulean_Shaman and then he winked at all the scalpers who then sent him thank-you letters for confirming that they'll be able to safely corner the market for at least another 3 months.
That's exactly what he did when he said he doesn't see this as a problem. He doesn't care where the money making him richer is coming from. And that's why I'll always stick with EVGA. They are trying their best to get the people who will actually keep and use these cards a real chance to get them. In a world full of greed, EVGA stands out as beacon of light for actually giving a ****e.

Good start, at least one company is actually trying to help real customers get cards, but you should add a cell phone text verification to this process, and require a # that wasn't used already on a different email (one phone # per email account). I know scalpers can register internet phone #s, but it would at least make it much more of a hassle for them to try to sign up for many of these. Hope I eventually get one but not holding my breath as I think I only bothered signing for email notification on 1 card if any, so I just had to resign up for all of them, and now I'm just imagining scalpers with dozens or hundreds of sign ups each sitting in front of me in line.. :x Also 5 hours is a tight window, guessing you have to resign up if you miss it? Hope these only happen during normal waking hours in US.

It does for me. I had 2 of these in my cart and could never complete checkout. Now I will be able to. No more F5ing. Just checking my email multiple times during business hours, is much more manageable. And in my case, I signed up for the notifications the same day the FTW3 went on EVGA's website. So I can't be that far away. I get this isn't perfect. But it's better than F5ing until my finger wants to fall off. Better than the uncertainty of before. And yes, better for my peace of mind knowing when I get the chance to add to cart next time, I'll be able to complete the process.

This is just a bandaid. If EVGA sticks with a system like this then on ALL future releases are going to be fubar. People will have their bots waiting for the notfication to pop up and they will have 5-10 accounts with dif info ready to go. In all future highly desired launches within the first 1 minute they are going to have a queue that is 5000 deep that is ONLY bots. Then you will have the regular people start coming in. This system guarantees that only bots will be getting the first 5k-10k units from EVGA.

They can cross that bridge when they come to it. It works now. And really that's all that matters at this moment in time.

We have made some changes to the checkout process for EVGA.com 30 Series orders. Now we are using a queue based notification system. To sign up, use the notification button on the product you would like to be notified for. For everyone who already used the notify button previously, you are already entered. Once product is available (and it is your turn to purchase), you will receive a secure email that will allow you to purchase the product that you received a notification for. Please note that you have 5 hours to place your order, if your order is not complete within 5 hours, the product will be released back into queue system. Also note that your email address that was used for the notify system MUST MATCH an email that has a registered EVGA account, if an account is not available with that email, you will need to create one before you can purchase. Also note that this system will be available for US store first and evaluating for other regions. Thanks EVGA
Thank you Jacob and for all you've done throughout this entire process! You're a gem!

Thank you all for this! It is a great idea on how to handle the demand with some fairness. We appreciate all of the hard work that went into it knowing that you were going to sell the product regardless of trying to help the individuals over the bot-ers.

You can still use the one you have now. They gave extra time for the initial batch since it was late at night/early morning. Better get on it ASAP. Don't screw it up twice.

Get on the phone with them, man. If not now, as soon as they open. Send an email to technical support. Contact someone there and let them know they said they were extending due to the hours. You give up so easy.

EVGA_JacobF Yes they will go back into the email pool. Right now there will only be email/notification releases from evga.com. You will still be able to find it at etail/retail also.
I only had to read 14 pages to find this answer, and it's the exact answer I was hoping for...
