2023
Maybe they launch in 2022 but aren't realistically available to non-scalpers until 2025.

ha ha ha ha... seconded!
I wish this was an option. They would just interpret the demand as a reason to increase the price proactively though.

Ok per our favorite Amphibian here is my list: Asteriods, why is a subject for an adult form. Amiga Archon Early PC Warlords and Warlords 2 MMOG World of Warcraft. I got into first person shooters, got lost in the old 3D. Played Starcraft and StarcraftII, really never any good. But I enjoyed the game.

Pretty sure my plunge into gaming goodness started with Ultima Underworld. Couldn't get enough of that game. Have been an RPG junkie ever since.

The game that started this 40 year and counting obsession with video games is Intellivision's Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (sometimes called Cloudy Mountain), probably with Night Stalker and Astrosmash as a close second/third. When I first played Super Mario for NES at my cousin's house in 85 or so, it was truly curtains.

It was black Thorne and Metroid on super nes for me that spelled curtains. Of course I played Mario and pitfall Pac-Man and all that stuff but I wasn’t hooked until the first two.

I started my computer gaming with 5.25 floppy disks (where in the world is carmen sandiego, The oregon trail). Moved on from there after some time not having a computer to starcraft on a Pentium 133 with mmx technology..good times!

The first game I remember really liking was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on a friends' Genesis. Later when our family got a N64, I played the crap out of Donkey Kong 64 & Super Mario 64. However, what really sucked me in was when I played my first RPG, the criminally underrated Legend of Dragoon. RPGs are pretty much all I seriously play anymore.

I chose Space Wars over Asteroids, but yeah...I missed that one. My first MMORPG was DAoC which the wonderful folks at Broadsword are maintaining (along with Ultima Online). Doom...absolutely. Quake...yes. BF1942...sign me up. How about this one... Bolo. A classic. I believe I have written about this game in the intros before. Sorry, I'll stop....

When I was 5 my dad bought a bunch of parts at CompUSA (RIP) and we built a computer, I picked a sick blue-and-cream "Boneyard" case. One of the first games he got me was Galactic Battlegrounds, I watched him play it a few times and it blew my mind that you could build and command a whole bunch of stormtroopers. Then a few months later he had me help him make a crossover cable so we could play LAN and he absolutely rinsed me with AT-ATs and Sith Masters. Still got that computer in the basement somewhere.

I remember my older siblings and cousins playing Super Mario Bros. 3. I liked the idea of hidden secrets in the game and all that good stuff Mario provide. I also remember them playing The CD-i. There was a pinball game that they figured out how to get the ball stuck so it would just repeatedly bounce back and forth forth hours racking up points lol. I think their high scores are still on there. Mystic Midway was cool and The Wacky World of Miniature Golf introduced me to Eugene Levy for the first time without even knowing. When I was a little older it was Killer instinct and countless hours of Goldeneye. Saw a guy in a local bowling alley turn Sabrewulf into a can of dog food with Fulgore. Thought that was the coolest. Which Brings me to SOCOM U.S. Navy SEAL's. I was just starting 8th grade in September 2001. That game meant a lot to me. I want to say in an emotional way, spiritual way. It's hard to explain but I think that's the gist of it. I liked everything about that game. It made me want to be a SEAL at the time. I grew the utmost respect and it helped me realize and reinforce a lot of things in a critical period of my life. Honor and Integrity. Working as a team to accomplish a mission. Hearing about their real life missions afterwards and understanding why they would jump on a grenade for their team. Brings a tear to my eye. An understanding tear. Not that I have ever been near anything like that. I just admire it. Like the rescue of Jessica Buchanan in Somalia. After they rescued her and were moving to extraction, they thought they heard something. Fearing that an enemy ambush was imminent, they laid down on top of her creating a 360 degree sphere just in case. They were going to do everything they possibly could to protect her. Whether it was soaking up enemy fire or not. Chills....I'm definitely a fan. And of course to see they were the ones who were ultimately tasked with raiding the OBL compound. Respect. SOCOM was my first online game too. It's where I made my first online gaming friends. Lot's of memories. I could quick snipe exceptionally well if I do say so myself. I actually kept my GameTag as close as the one I used in that game for the longest time to possibly have an old friend recognize me, to no avail. I also played the original Call of Duty and Battlefield game on my potato Dell Dimension 2400 too. I remember seeing them on the shelf and I had just gotten the PC as a present. It was our first. I wanted to try some PC games cuz they looked awesome. I remember my friend who was more experienced in the PC gaming space than me told me my PC would explode if I tried to play Half Life 2. I suppose it was at that moment I knew that I would eventually buy my own high end gaming PC.

MMarkevitch Got my notification for 12G-P5-3967-KR 6/3/2021 7:47:42 AM PT, letting it pass to someone else as I am happy with my 12G-P5-3968-KR. Hope it finds a good home!
Thanks for reporting back. Hopefully it drops as a straggler today. ----- Thirsty Thursday. Or Throwback Thursday. How about this...your homework -- should you choose to accept it -- is to have a meat-space conversation today (or drop a post in the EVGA forums or your discord of choice) talking about your favorite early gaming experience. Perhaps you might share with your child or spouse a story about your first game and how it made you feel, or maybe it is telling random strangers why Q*bert was THE game of your single-digit years and inspired your subsequent crime spree that landed you in the clink (or Congress...whichever). In any case, let's try to remember what led us to this wonderful hobby and, eventually, to this long-ass queue. (For me, my favorite game as a youth was Ultima II...definitely one hundred plus hours into that one.) Best of luck today! the veryyyy first game i can remember playing was this one on my parents computer that was that skiing game where an abominable snowman chases you near the end and no matter what you do, its faster than you and will eventually catch and eat you lol. My parents didnt really like my playing video games so my exposure was limited and didnt really come into being until i was in middle school.

SkiFree, I think it came with Windows 95. One of the first PC games I remember playing is Lemmings. Spent countless hours playing that one .

Marc...yup. I do worry that they just cannot crowdsource enough of a budget to make a AA+ game. I think they are around $5 or $6M in funding. I hope they have other sources.... My first gaming platform was the Apple ][e. Edit: Thanks for these stories. Please keep them coming. This is so much better than just working in the salt mines of queue purgatory.

My first computer was an Apple IIgs. I had King's Quest I and IV, along with Space Quest I & II and Police Quest I, along with standards like Oregon Trail, Carmen Sandiego, and Number Munchers (I have younger brothers and mom was a teacher). That filled the void before I got a TurboGrafx16 in the late 80s, because I never had an NES somehow as an 80s kid.

The first multiplayer games I remember playing are C&C and Starcraft. The first time getting the LAN connection to finally work was a momentous occasion by itself lol.

First game I ever wanted to play online against other players was Quake III Arena. Still love that game to this day.

I first played games at friends/family houses on NES, namely Excite Bike, Super Mario, and Duck Hunt. The first "mine" gaming experience was Red Alert sometime 95/96. Sister's boyfriend brought over some games and due to HDD space limitations I had to choose between Warcraft and Red Alert. Warcraft was pretty cool, but tanks, y'know. I never realized until years later that the game never needed a CD... Regardless, I've bought the game, expansions, and sequels since, so c'est la vie. Saved up and bought a N64 and have been PC & console gaming since. Adjusted for inflation, those N64 cartridges rival today's overpriced launch-day "complete game+DLC" bundles.

As arena shooters go, I hear Splitgate is promising. I need some new gaming goodness before I can play it at better than 12 fps, though.

Quake, Unreal Tournament, and Counter Strike were among the memorable online FPS games I played back in the day. Battlefield remains by far my favorite FPS series though, but that wasn't until a little bit later. 1942 and BF2 were such amazing games at the time, can't wait for 2042 and praying I have my GPU by then.
