Props to you for contributing to FAH ... Imagine if you were running a 3090! 1080p at 60 fps isn't exactly asking nothing of your GPU and to be able to crunch out that folding.

I have a 3090 on my main Win10 desktop, I just don't run it 24/7.  The 3070 is in my all-purpose Win10 server box.  There are many considerations about where and when to run things.  The 3090 is in my office, a room that heats up very easily, whereas the 3070 is in the basement.  The former isn't naturally on all the time because I have to use my work Macbook during the day.  The latter is on 24/7 anyway because it is a Plex server and fileshare among many other things.
 
Another aspect is the cost ... there is real electricity cost to running FoldingAtHome.  The 3070 draws 220W whereas the 3090 draws 350W.  If you factor in the CPUs it's i7-7700t 35W + EVGA 3070 220W + other stuff = 280W continuous draw.  If your electric rate is $0.10 / kWh that equates to an extra $20 / mo on your electric bill or $240 / yr.  Now ... the main rig is i7-7700k OC ~100W + EVGA 3090 350W + other stuff = 500W continuous draw.  The same electricity math is $36 / mo or $432 / yr.
 
This $$$ is all viewed as a donation by me and it won't break my bank account if I were to run both 24/7.  However, given that the 3090 takes ~94 min per FatH job and the 3070 takes ~112 min per job, the 3070 is 19% slower but costs 1/3 less power it makes the 3090 less compelling.
 
I will run FatH on my 3090 when I am using that PC for gaming, handbrake, whatever.  If I am already paying ~150W to run that OC PC what's another 350W between friends ... right?
 
So, what do I do here?  I am curious about the 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti.  Need to see the Watts for those units to decide if I am going to grab a more powerful card to replace the 3070.  Videocardz lists 3080 Ti as ~320W.  What will the 3070 Ti be?  It would be a small boost in GPU power for sure but could be more efficient from an electricity to GPU horsepower standpoint.

Officers from West Midlands police raided a building in an industrial estate on 18 May expecting to find a cannabis farm, but instead stumbled upon the cryptocurrency scheme. No arrests have been made. West Midlands police said they had been tipped off to the possible existence of a cannabis farm because of reports of people visiting the industrial unit at all times of day. A police drone flown overhead “picked up a considerable heat source”, usually associated with heaters used to help cannabis plants grow.

Imagine if there was a cannabis farm as well and having them find the bitcoin mining was only a distraction? ;)
