I don't want to be negative here but I think it's just a reality now that the scalping situation will not improve at all in the foreseeable future, and will probably last for years now.
 
Scalpers got a taste of it, can make a huge profit from it, know they can get away with it since nobody's doing anything against them (no laws and companies do not care who they sell their product to) and they will only double down on the future gens of cards because of all that.
 
Anyone believing otherwise just plain refuses to see what's been going on for almost a year now, the facts are all there and I don't see why it would change. Even when the supply increases: they will just buy more and eventually control most of the market.

 
Yeah until some corrections are made this is not going away. It could move to more and more products and in fact it has.

You're not going to get people to stop buying at scalper prices until supply meets demand.  Superman himself bought a 3090 off eBay

Contracts cover the whole lifespan of card generations, or put simply cover 5 or 10 years at a time easily

That is not true. Stop buying graphics cards for such huge prices - and scalpers will go away too. But not everyone ready to find another hobby...

I cannot believe I am saying this (LOL), but nick is 100% right here.  Scalpers shrivel and die without money from suckers or people unwilling to wait.  They are organisms, cut off their money supply and they will go away.

The Friday before a three day weekend. Monday night NVIDIA spills the beans on the 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti. Enjoy the last few hours before NVIDIA disappoints us again.

Oh hi enewt.  How are you doing?  I haven't checked in here in almost 5+ months.  I'm tempted to see if I could land a 3070 Ti or 3080 Ti.  The EVGA 3070 I got in December (from the queue) has been running FoldingAtHome 24/7 (I'm ranked in the top 2000 donors now).  That 3070 can concurrently run Folding and stream a Steam game at 1080p60 (to my phone or an Nvidia Shield) and still have some capacity to spare.  It's a great workhorse.

Props to you for contributing to FAH. You're an absolute legend, mate. That is solid performance out of your little card. Imagine if you were running a 3090! 1080p at 60 fps isn't exactly asking nothing of your GPU and to be able to crunch out that folding. Dang!

I am not shaming/blaming anyone. I just trying to say that problem is complex and there no simple answer like "It is manufacturers fault - they can't give more chips supply!" or "This is Scalper fault - they bought all available supply!" or "This is miners fault - they bought all cards for their farms!" or "This is gamers fault - they want their cards and willing to pay huge prices!". All these reasons are valid. We(gamers) can't force manufacturers make more chips, we can't force miners to stop expanding their farms, we can't force scalpers to abandon idea of a quick buck, but we can stop pay ridiculously high prices.
Find another hobby while you waiting during shortage. Racing drones with FPV, motorcycle rides, fishing, jet ski & boating... and tons of anything else.
 
P.S. yesterday I spotted awesome looking 1989 boat on Craigslist for just 4.5k(post was 1 hour old), I responded and ask seller if it still available and if can I see and buy it and he responded "It available, sure you can see it!", I ask his address and he did not respond immediately. He responded 2 hours later "First responder just  took boat from my driveway"...

Same here, I'm 1 hour away in the 3080 queue. I just want this 8+ months hell to be over once and for all. Sick of my consoles, I want to join by buddies back again in FF14, The Division, etc.

Best of luck with your Ti hunt...as evident from the recent increase in post spamming to obtain Elite status, it looks like you will have some company (if you haven't already registered your 3070 with EVGA.com to secure your Elite status, get on that!).  

Thanks for the tip.  I had registered it a while back so the sign up button was already sitting right there for me when I checked a moment ago.

If I understand Jacob correctly there should be more Kingpin HC today.
