Yes, I did this for my brother.  It was my queue card and I just selected a different shipping address than billing, sent it straight to him.

I'm calling it today pretty early.  Doesn't seem to be a lot going on drop-wise today and I have some family obligations this evening.  Hopefully, we will see some drops tomorrow...something to awaken us from these doldrums....
 
Perhaps by posting so early, EVGA will take the opportunity to prove me a fool and drop some this afternoon.

I've been like 6 hours away since last tuesday for a 3080 and just simply no movement. I was absolutely certain I was getting an email last week but nothing. Getting anything else is essentially zero chance. I love and appreciate EVGA having a queue but it's all in the dark on where things stand...

I would like to see "configurable" card - same as business laptops. Basic version, then you can select features what you need. Want overclock? +$. Want hybrid cooler? +$$. Want waterblock installed? +$$$. Want RGB lighting? +$. And so on. Sounds difficult? If laptop manufacturers can do this for laptops started from 1000+, why graphics card manufacturer can't?

I'd configure mine to play games for me, imagine how much time I could free up :P!

I'm thinking that the 3080 might go away soon and a 3080ti may appear. This time get on the list earlier and get a 3080ti within a couple of months of release. That's what i'm hoping for now.

That's what I have been saying, and I think I shall never in my life see a 3080. They will be usurped by the 3080TIs and the regular 3080s won't exist anymore. Sad because I prefer a lower power 3080 more than what I assume will be a very power hungry 3080TI

I have been less than 2 hours away for the last 4 weeks on a 3060Ti. You might be waiting awhile.

Because it is a different business model. The laptops are made to order. You generally have to wait a while for the laptop to be assembled, and then be shipped from the country of origin. (Last year, I ordered a laptop for a friend that proved to be defective. It was going to take 6 weeks to get a replacement of the same specifications, so my friend settled for a somewhat similar ready made that, e.g., had an Intel CPU rather than an AMD CPU and only one M2 slot rather than 2.)
 
Graphics cards are assembled in advance and mostly sold through retailers and to computer makers who incorporate the cards into the computers they sell. EVGA is one of the few cardmakers to sell cards on its own site and that is a small part of its business.
 
Maybe at some point EGVA will decide that made to order is a profitable business mode. But expect to pay more because made to order is a more labor intensive process than making a run of one model and then a run of another model. Also, making multiple SKUs is profitable only where the price is high enough to justify it. Notice that there are many more 3080 and 3090 SKUs than there are 3060 and 3060TI SKUs.
 
The fewer the choices, the more efficient the manufacturing process, and generally the best prices to the consumers.

I feel really sad that the people who got notified for the non-watercooled 3080s and 3090s were those who registered from September and October 2020. I only registered earlier this March haha..... ****
