S.S.D.D. It looks like it’s going to get worse before it gets better, unexpected but can you blame them?

@ eVGA - may I please have a status update regarding the 3080 XC3 gaming line? Since launch day I think this card has moved the least. I’ve been in line since 09/16 @ 12:14pm, please be thoughtful of others any update is better than nothing at this point. I feel like a donkey at this point chasing the carrot tied to my head.

This whole shortage situation is unbelievable and clearly show shortcomings of Nvidia (and AMD) fabless manufacturing. They didn’t order enough chips from Samsung/TSMC and now they have to wait or sign new contract whichever it is. Hopefully Intel not going to follow that road. Other problem is that whole DIY market is of the lesser importance for chip manufacturers.

Even with a fab, and without covid Intel was facing shortages 2 years back.
 
Everyone wants to blame the companies, but it really seems like its just the market atm. Covid caused manufacturing chain issues near the start of the year that still haven't been recovered from(even nvidea in a call stated how pcb supply chains were iffy a few months back). 
 
 
And people are buying tech like crazy. Even used 20 series are going for more than their  original msrp. While this is from lack form current supply, this is also from demand. Steam survey shows that  the 30 series is way more adopted among users than the 20 series even with shortage. Tons of famous people were building rigs this year, and pc gaming is really hitting the masses. VR headsets were and are hard to get, some monitors have been hard to get, Consoles are hard to get ect. People are bored, stuck home and even if tis not the most logical option given their finances they are buying tech up like hotcakes to maintain their sanity and have something to focus on.

Hey, I'm in nyc with like 20+ bb in a 50 mile area. No matter what I haven't gotten a chance for pickup. I can get it in my cart, but I never get verification code, and when I select the store it always says I can't pick up regardless of which store I pick up. I guess it's based on luck but it's quite annoying to keep losing out

Be thankful that you've actually seen an "add to cart" button light up. In the almost 4 months since launch, I've not had that privilage.

I understand what you mean. Hopefully we both get what we're looking for. I've been in the que since day 1, I'm within striking distance (12hrs) for the 3080. Good luck!

I'm 22:38 away from queing for the 3885, however given how few drops there have been for the non-FTW series, and what have you, could be this week, could be next month.

Ironic people were expecting massive drops to make up for the 2 weeks of nothing then there aren't followed by news of potentially increasing prices for the cards soon. Did the cards that did drop today even make up a noticeable dent?

The drop today covered almost 49 minutes of the 3080 FTW3 Ultra timeline.

If anybody is waiting on it, the XC3 Hybrid Kit's auto-notify button is now live.  Here is the link.

These were actually in stock for immediate purchase in December at some points, sad they're back on queue status.  Probably mostly scalpers tbh, thinking they can make easy money on them.
 
And according to JacobF via Twitter, both 3090 & 3080 FTW3 Hybrids will not be coming in until possibly next week (for sure, no chance this week at all), same for Kingpins, possible next week, definitely not this week.
 
I'm having to resist the urge to test the XC3 BIOS 'fix' for the power limit issue the 3090 FTW3s have.  It works for just about everyone that has done it... well "works" as in it allows higher, more stable clocks with no "power limit" issues arising.

24 hours away from a 3060 TI FTW3 Ultra, but a whole month away from a 3080 FTW3 Ultra. 
 
Do i buy the 3060 and hopefully sometime this year get my 3080 and sell 3060? I'm on an old 1050TI, so either is a big step up

Buy the 3060 Ti if you get the chance, then put in for a step up to the 3080. Then buy whichever 3080 comes up first, either from the step up queue or from the notify queue.

Ugh. Couldn't get any 3080s added to my cart during the Best Buy drop. I did manage to get a 3090 XC3 Ultra all the way to checkout, but I couldn't justify spending $1700+ (after taxes), so I didn't pull the trigger.
 
Back to random F5'ing and watching the queue. 

BB was really a joke.  Stay in the queue.

BB isn't a joke if you're prepared and quick. I have now ordered 2 cards from them and my brother got 1 as well. The queue is the best safety net that we have to eventually guarantee a card. It was always my backup plan.
 
YMMV but FWIW:
* Get Hotstock.io app (or something similar) on your phone to notify you as soon as stock is appearing.
* Setup your BB account and save a card on there to check out faster.
* When stock is coming in, load a single product page and refresh until "Add to Cart" button shows up.
* Once you click "Add to Cart" don't leave, don't reload, and don't load any other BB pages (on other tabs) just wait for it to pop up yellow and click.
* Have your phone ready for text verification (this is to hinder the bots - so is in store pickups).
* Checkout ASAP, sometimes you get issues saying pickup location isn't available. Just keep trying the checkout buttons. I've gotten to this page many times and sometimes it's because I tried way too late and other times due to a glitch. If you miss out, you always have the EVGA queue.
* It'll take time, but the faster you get on after the notification and devote the next 10 minutes or so to just adding and checking out asap, you may have better luck.

And then you get there is no store within 250 miles that have allocated cards.

Have had over 8 cards but not allowed to buy.
So no BB is a sad joke.

At this point, your best bet is probably going to come down to hoping that the rumored 20GB 3080ti/super/whatever they decide to call it gets announced soon, and that you're able to get in the queue as soon as it opens.

Short of that, buy whichever card you can get first, register it immediately, and then use the step-up program to get the card you actually want. Be aware that0 it'll probably take more than 90 days for them to get to you in the step-up queue. If a new card is released (and added to the step-up program) within the first 90 days from your purchase date (whatever is on your receipt/invoice), you can cancel your step-up and resubmit to get in line in the queue for the new card you want more. After you're past 90 days you can still cancel step-ups, but you can't re-initiate them. Also be aware that stepping out of line loses you your place in the queue.

other side of the hudson and same "no stores in 250 miles" error for me so I mean it's either a shortcoming of best buy's site and luck not location

Seems to be a thing in the area, I'm just outside NJ in PA, an hour from NYC and Philly and all I ever see is "no stores in 250 miles" as well

Same thing happening in Utah as well, no pick up available within 250 miles
