What the flip is this "new member" bullshiz? I have been a member since 2007! I just took a long break. Look at my sig! I've been an EVGA guy for a loooooong time.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/05 15:09:54 (permalink)
It is frustrating to see EVGA and other graphics card makers introducing new variants when they are unable to fill the demand for existing models. However, it probably does not affect total output since the real bottleneck is the number of chips Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing can produce for Nvidia. In fact, adding more models may speed up the process if there is a shortage of other parts used in some of the cards, which EVGA may be alleviating by using substitute parts in newer variants.

Also, while I'd love it if EVGA made me and the other people on the direct sale waiting lists their first priority, it is unrealistic to expect them to put my desires ahead of those of large purchasers like Best Buy, Amazon, and NewEgg.

I'm also waiting for an AMD 5900x. I'm 74 and wondering if I will live long enough to get my CPU and graphics card, especially since I'm told our wonderful California Governor is putting felons ahead of seniors in the priority for COVID vaccinations--which I am also waiting for. (Frankly, I'd be a lot more comfortable about being able to get a COVID vaccination if EVGA was in charge of distributing them and Ed Newt was posting twice daily updates on the queue.)

Does anyone have any idea roughly how many people are in the queues and roughly how many cards a week EVGA is distributing to the queues?

Small nitpick, but I believe Samsung is manufacturing the 30 series chips, not TSMC.

Jacob mentioned Hybrids for next week.  I got the impression from his social media today that we should not expect Hybrids (except, perhaps, Hybrid kits) this week.

So stockdrops just mentioned that evga is going to be increasing the price of their cards soon. I wonder by how much.

I am assuming that this means those of us still waiting in line, will see a price increase before we get our turn. If the price increases as much as Asus did, I waited in line for nothing as I won't be able to afford the cards I have set up on Auto-notify  So friggin pissed at bots and scalpers. I may never replace my 1080.

As vile as the scalpers are, we have the tariffs to blame for the price increase. Granted, the scalpers get some blame for making the cards difficult to get up to this point.

Ugh. Couldn't get any 3080s added to my cart during the Best Buy drop. I did manage to get a 3090 XC3 Ultra all the way to checkout, but I couldn't justify spending $1700+ (after taxes), so I didn't pull the trigger.

Back to random F5'ing and watching the queue.

BB was really a joke.  Stay in the queue.

BB isn't a joke if you're prepared and quick. I have now ordered 2 cards from them and my brother got 1 as well. The queue is the best safety net that we have to eventually guarantee a card. It was always my backup plan.

YMMV but FWIW:
* Get Hotstock.io app (or something similar) on your phone to notify you as soon as stock is appearing.
* Setup your BB account and save a card on there to check out faster.
* When stock is coming in, load a single product page and refresh until "Add to Cart" button shows up.
* Once you click "Add to Cart" don't leave, don't reload, and don't load any other BB pages (on other tabs) just wait for it to pop up yellow and click.
* Have your phone ready for text verification (this is to hinder the bots - so is in store pickups).
* Checkout ASAP, sometimes you get issues saying pickup location isn't available. Just keep trying the checkout buttons. I've gotten to this page many times and sometimes it's because I tried way too late and other times due to a glitch. If you miss out, you always have the EVGA queue.
* It'll take time, but the faster you get on after the notification and devote the next 10 minutes or so to just adding and checking out asap, you may have better luck.

ok i can manage to get it in my cart, but i never get a text for verification, also it always shows stores but never lets me choose 1 to pick up from (always says something like this store is unavailable pick another 1) So im wondering if maybe not getting a text or an email (my account has both email and ph# registered) is causing me not to be able to select a store for pick up? Maybe just bad luck? Ive tried majority of BB drops and have never gotten 1 , just added to cart but never able to pick a store for pick up...

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/05 16:37:38 (permalink)
I was hopeful that today would be the day EVGA and UPS find each other again, like some long lost couple at the end of a romantic movie and that as the credits roll, we’d see a fleet...strike that...fleets of fleets...of UPS trucks lined up at warehouses the size of...well, each building the size of the warehouse at the end of the Indiana Jones -- each truck being loaded up with box after box of EVGA gaming goodness.  Fade to black.

But we didn’t see that.

I am confident that the warehouse has inventory...perhaps today -- the first day the shipping department was back on the case -- was a day of fulfilling non-30 series orders that came in between Dec 22 and Jan 5…I don’t know.  But I remain hopeful.  Best of luck tomorrow.  And may the writer of our story find his pen and finish this “love” (?) story once and for all.  We need our cards.  Full stop.

As of 4:25 pm PT Tuesday afternoon, January 5, this is the status of the North American queues (bolded font represents movement from the morning of Tuesday, January 5; italicized parentheticals calculate the length of movement).

Sure. I have a lot in mine. Once I get the card I snagged on NewEgg I'll be dropping off them, though.

Yes. And you should sign up for any that you would be willing to buy.  Who knows which queue will move the fastest, but err on the side of being overinclusive to give yourself options.  Best of luck!

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/05 17:14:25 (permalink)
Well its an end of an era. I have always bought EVGA cards for mine and my wifes PCs for as long as I remember. Got an Asus 3080 on BB today(if it doesn't get canceled.) This queue, has its good sides, but with the amount of SKUs and the sheer lack of movement on the BLACK cards(signed up day one) I went with Asus(not that I had much of a choice). I really feel its a bittersweet moment.

I have learned a lot these past few months. Newegg have pretty much lost me as a customer with their combo deals and the lack of bot detection. Scalpers suck. EVGA having so many SKUs sucked, and the lack of movement in the cheaper cards sucked more.

Either way, I guess it was a fun journey and my watch is almost over!

As I promised a week ago, when I had the 3080 FTW in my hands, I'd remove myself from the notifies.  That has been done.

I wish you all well and hope that his helps in some small way.

Recently got my hands on a 3080 FTW3 Ultra, and now my watch has ended. I removed myself from notifies and wish you all the best of luck.

Happy hunting, good luck, and don’t give into scalpers... no matter what.

Yeah, sounds like you're just unlucky or not getting there fast enough. It really depends on how many the stores near you are getting.  If you're in an unlucky area, I would assume there aren't as many and you'd have to be one of the first in line to grab one.  That's just my assumption, it seems BB allocates inventory to certain stores and makes those available to purchase. It isn't like they're using the whole pool for ordering and then sending them out to different stores afterward.

Maybe if you can set your 'home' store as something a bit more popular (bigger city or something).  It might be worth a road trip if you can actually get to order one then. I say this because I think on the product page, it's only looking at your default store for the "Add to Cart" button to appear. It isn't until you try to check out that you can then try and change your store.

(Deleted since it was off the topic of the queue and potentially argumentative and I don't want to distract!)
