I have a new build waiting on just the video card.  I can use my old 1080 while I wait, but I'd rather have that shiny new RTX in my hands.  As much as I'd like to finish my build, I refuse to pay scalper prices...it encourages what I consider to be bad behavior.  I'm not desperate, and some days I do get tempted, but I can't bring myself to do it.  So I continue to check my notifies and hope beyond hope that a decent amount of cards will come in and move these queues substantially forward.  I do check NewEgg, BestBuy, and Amazon daily, but I don't spend too much time doing the refresh madness.  Some day it will happen and I won't have paid 100%, 200%, 300% markups.

Sounds like you are doing right (in my opinion).  My only difference is that I don't have a back-up 1080...so my computer choices at home are limited to a 3 year old Alienware laptop.  Rocket League in 45 FPS is my jam, man!

MarceloKayro
Hello all.

Any ideas of what is going on with the queue? is moving?
I'm since 10/7/2020 6:11:09 AM waiting for it. (Geforce 3080)

Regards.

Most of the queues are moving, but some faster than others.  Some queues haven't moved at all.  If you go back through the last two or so pages of this thread, you will see a summary table that describes where each card's queue currently resides.  Best of luck!

I am (not-so-patiently) waiting for my 30 series.  This thread has helped ease the wait and for that, I thank all of you new and OGs.  Let's keep the faith; we will get our gaming goodness.  I trust the queue; "This is the way."

Marcelo you've got an incredibly long wait ahead of you - not only did you miss signing up on launch day (or any of the following weeks) you also signed up after the queue was announced. There are thousands of people ahead of you. Honestly cards will probbaly be freely available on all retail sites by the time the queue progresses to that date.

Assuming the 3090 FTW3 Ultra moves the way it moved last week, I should get my notification some time this week.

Signed up 10/07/2020 at 5-ish AM.

Just watch. This week will see that queue barely budge, knowing my luck.  I've waited this long to buy one.  I can wait a little longer.

You're losing time if you're spending hours a day on several sites trying to find a card available.

This is correct.

No this is not ''correct''. Tell that to the 2 people I know so far who were able to get a 3080 and 3090 on Newegg last week during a drop.

People who are doing that have better chances of getting a card than people sitting on their bottoms and bitc**ing about the current situation. Instead of actually trying to get one.

Hell even me, while I work, I have the 3080 page of Newegg up on my second screen that keeps auto-refreshing every 5 seconds for the past 3 weeks trying my luck too. While I am also in the queue for the EVGA one. Whichever happens first! Actually saw when the drops happened (but was unfortunately too slow both times).

Firstly anecdotes don't really hold up well to the general trend - and secondly - if you're refreshing websites while at work you're then wasting your company's time instead of your own (assuming you're not self employed)

Your company doesn't pay you to refresh newegg (most likely) - if you spend time refreshing newegg while you're getting paid to do work then you're wasting your employer's time and by extension money - unless you're self employed then by all means spend your time as you see fit.

I was lucky in that I still had my old computer sitting around.  I typically pass it on to someone who wants to tinker, but in this case I needed to keep using the video card.  I've also been surprised at other parts that have been difficult/slow to get.  Low-end stuff is fairly easy to find, but the higher-end parts come and go pretty quickly.  Even simple things like extra case fans, pci-e extension cables, power supplies, etc. were constantly out of stock (except at scalper prices).  I was finally able to get those parts without paying over MSRP, but still waiting for the video card.

Let's say 5% -8% of potential buyers have card, 2 month after "launch day"
So 90% wasting their time hanging out in front of the stores waiting for drop (dog poop size) or sitting in chairs revisiting retailer websites and f5-ing poor keyboards.
If you have a full time job, you would know what I am talking about.
Sheep mentality accepts micro facts and title them as macro, which produce illusion based on wrong facts.

Meanwhile scalper retailers announcing (fake) ETA volume - 432 cards in 3 days.

Look folks.  Those of us here from the beginning have been waiting a long time; even those who have joined along the way, have been waiting more than anybody should have to.  While we've had some low points -- last Friday was one for me --

Why was Friday a low point? We were still breathing the fumes from the largest 3080 FTW Ultra drop so far that happened the day before. The queue advanced quite a bit considering how many launch day time stamps there are. I was in awe.
