Pretty much this. It's still a good CPU, but you will not realize the full 3080 performance in all scenarios. Really depends on your target games and planned gaming resolution, as stated above.
Most important point to make here, what is your PSU model/spec?
It's an eVGA SuperNova 1000 Series, G3. It should have the oomph needed.
I'm thinking I'm going to pass. Looking at the dB's on the three fan solution I guess I'll see if they hit me on the hybrid I am also still in a Queue for. Then just really do some reconstruction in my case to make the room that the newer dual fan hybrid requires. Or at least think about it more. A year+ ago when I signed up for the queue, I would have jumped at the chance, now I'm like... *wince*.
I'd really like to see ray tracing and pretty visuals though! It may be time to go through all the systems I have gathering dust and sell the various components piecemeal and see how much of a budget I can amass for more new parts. Being married and having a wife who doesn't get 'PC Gaming' makes it hard to spend money. I have a 'technology' savings account I put $20 bucks a paycheck into but splurged on a new phone when my prior phone went tits up.
So, I think my decision is made, someone else is going to get my 3897-KL.
Maybe I'll win the most recent social media contest and get me a Z690 starter kit!

Hopefully more today.
Makes me even more curious about how the EVGA scores and queue 3.0 rules work.

Just picked up an RTX 3060 by Asus from Micro Center this past weekend. Was really wanting to wait for this queue, but am happy with what I got. It was for $509.99 so there's hope out there for you that are still waiting. I waited for about a year and a half since right before they announced the 30 series cards.

Truly remarkable...evga lists a few graphics cards on b-stock page and no amount of f5'ing will make the page load...then when the page loads, the cards are all gone...definitely bots

So can you use an associates code if you use the DIY configurator? I ask because the terms would seem to indicate that you can but it would not accept any code and thanks to my fumbling with the system lost my chance at paying a bit too much for a video card, psu and some other part.
