We will have to redefine what constitutes "expensive", that word is not accurate enough to describe the stuff we've seen over the last couple years.  Most prices lately are in a category far beyond what I consider to be "expensive", borderline "reckless and self-destructive to purchase".

Congrats on the 3090 score. I had put in for a 3080 and the same 3090 kingpin. I figured id never get the 3090 and didnt plan on the monies. The 3090 came before the 3080. I bought it and am extremely happy with it. It does take up some space but well worth it.

Well it turns out that my joy was premature.  What I received was a 2080 Kingpin, which I have no use for since it's about the same performance as the 3070 ti I already have.  Not only that, but the card is in rough shape and there's a red warning LED on.  To make matters worse, I had cancelled my queue position for an FTW 3080, because I was so sure that EVGA wouldn't let me down.
 
Boo, hiss.  I'm not a happy camper at the moment! 
 
Probabably will end up with an ASUS, Zotac or Gigabyte 3090.

I didn't say anything the day you reported getting a 3090 kingpin from the bstock but I was really surprised because the only kingpin I saw available that day was the 2080ti and I was refreshing the page all the time.

I received notification and purchased 10G-P5-3897-KL 12/20/2020 11:25:10 AM PT   It didnt let me use an associates discount code. Are you exempt if you have an associate code?

And, yes, Associates (i.e., those with codes) cannot use associate codes.

I have until @ 09:30am MST tomorrow to decide if I want to purchase this card which would be replacing my 1080 Hybrid.
 
I'm not sure what I should do as it is a serious upgrade but my system is five years old with an EVGA 270 Motherboard, and an Intel Core i7 7700.   Is this really worth the upgrade if I can't upgrade my system as well presently?  And, if I do upgrade my system in a year or two, will it be worth it to have spent pandemic level prices when we may have 4xxx products available then at non pandemic and post Crypto crash prices? (I hope the crypto scams / NFT scams crash by then at least)
