TCroissant A report and connundrum: US 10G-P5-3897-KL 12/21/2020 7:16:40 AM PT Yes True I have until @ 09:30am MST tomorrow to decide if I want to purchase this card which would be replacing my 1080 Hybrid. I'm not sure what I should do as it is a serious upgrade but my system is five years old with an EVGA 270 Motherboard, and an Intel Core i7 7700. Is this really worth the upgrade if I can't upgrade my system as well presently? And, if I do upgrade my system in a year or two, will it be worth it to have spent pandemic level prices when we may have 4xxx products available then at non pandemic and post Crypto crash prices? (I hope the crypto scams / NFT scams crash by then at least)
personal opinion, even as there is more stock and cards are more available, i dont think prices are going to go down much if at all. and i really dont think the 4000 series is gonna be cheaper or near the same price as the 3000 series you can probably put a 9700k or a 9900k in that mobo, that would way better than what u have now

I don’t see prices going down either. Feels like this is the new norm. Demand isn’t drying up and supply remains horribly constrained.

Your system will be a bottleneck for that card. Unsure how much exactly but, you'll be leaving some performance on the table depending on resolution. If the goal is to upgrade in a year or two when this whole mess is behind us (hopefully), wait for the 4xxx series when you're ready to upgrade your entire system. A 1080 is still a solid card today, I'd personally wait. I feel a crash is coming within the next 12 months, or supply catches up with demand. Either is fine with me. Miners will dump their cards and flood the used market with low prices to recoup some costs, similar to what happen in late 2017/18. Maybe wait for that if you don't want to pay high prices for this "new normal".

Or in Jan 2023 cards will still be slow as you can imagine and eth mining will still be viable. there is a lot of incentive for that to be the new norm. been this way from nov 2020 to feb 2022 16 months of it. If nvidia and amd can do this for 16 more months they will. I make it 50-50 that we stay in this slot till June of 2023. the card below is Lenovo's rtx a4000 kind of like the 3060ti or the 3070 pre LHR cards https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/graphics-cards/graphics_cards/4x61e26089? $1349.99 price and a 4 month wait to get it. all rtx a4000 = sold out or jacked up prices. these cards should have freed the demand for all rtx 3000 cards that are lhr instead sold out and back ordered. the rtx a2000 = best mining card on the market sold out If eth falls flat and drops off the grid gpus will hit the market.

Hi all, I recently purchased the RTX-3050 XC Gaming (or the $329 USD model) from the queue, mainly because people in the forums said the MSRP $249 model (the XC-Black Gaming) wouldn't be in stock for a while, so I splurged and bought it. However, I've noticed the queue for it has opened up several times. So, I was just wondering, is there anything that would allow me to swap my version for the cheaper one (and potentially get some money back)? The only thing I found that would relate to my case is the EVGA Step Up program, but I think that's only for getting a higher tier of card and not for "downgrading". Unless I'm wrong. //

The GTX-1050 TI is extremely underrated, and no one can tell me otherwise.

Pretty much this. It's still a good CPU, but you will not realize the full 3080 performance in all scenarios. Really depends on your target games and planned gaming resolution, as stated above. Most important point to make here, what is your PSU model/spec?

The Step Up is only for moving up to higher level card. As far as your current card, your only option with is to keep it. You could sell it yourself if you so desired.
Ah got it. I mainly was asking because directly after purchasing my 3050, someone told me the MSRP for the RTX-3060 is the exact same as the 3050 I purchased. I assume the Step-Up program is only using prices from EVGA's GPUs, right? Because in theory I would be able to get a 3060 for essentially no extra cost, but something tells me that this isn't the case lol //

With the step up program EVGA will only credit you for EVGA's MSRP price.

I wish, but there is no 3060 for $329 via EVGA. You could step up to the $429 model. That's pretty much it. We're at the point where a $430 3060 is an instant-buy for many.

Has anyone ever received an EVGA notify over the weekend?
I'm only asking because my queue for 10G-P5-3897-KL is on Jan 2nd 2021, and this weekend Suntrust is transitioning to Truist. All online banking is going to be shut down from Friday until Sunday night, not sure about Monday, and our new Truist cards go active on Tuesday. It might just be safer to move the money over on Thursday while I can to be sure. Seeing that it just jumped from 12/18 to 12/21 in just a day is making me think ahead.

Hi there, new forum member, first post. I decided to do a new PC build for my kid, and I stupidly did not look at the reality of finding a GPU card for it these days, before I bought literally every other part for it. Guess the kid is going to deal with integrated motherboard graphics for a while... Last time I went down the road of a new PC build was 2017, and I didn't buy EVGA, more is the pity (ie. for loyalty points in the present market). Hopefully this forum post helps on that front, but EVGA's rules on that front seem pretty opaque. As a potential new customer coming in from out in the cold, I don't even get the option to join the Queue 3.0 system, or at least not that I can see. On pretty much all the GPU cards that EVGA sells now, there is a notice, "Due to high demand, the notify queue sign-up is temporarily disabled. If you have a current queue position, EVGA will continue to process as stock is available." So is there any option to sign up for a "notification to get notified" to join the Queue? Or do I have to keep logging in here until a Queue opens up again? I'm OK with joining a Queue, but having to log in at completely random intervals just to join the Queue seems pretty tedious. The alternative seems to be to pay 100% markup to a scalper, which is not very palatable either. Thanks!

I think there is only one Queue 3.0 SKU currently available for registering for the queue...the 3050 Gaming: EVGA GeForce RTX 3050 XC GAMING, 08G-P5-3553-KR. Not sure if that one is of interest for you/your kid. Register via the "auto-notify" button. Best of luck.

Thank you enewt. I see the "Auto Notify" button on that 3050 card, so at least I know what I'm looking for now on the other cards. I was really hoping for some flavour of 3070 instead, though. So I take it that EVGA opens their Queue list to new people at completely random intervals? I should check back here what, weekly? bi-weekly? monthly? Thanks.

No, they've locked the earlier queues until they've fully satisfied them...they were locked back in October 2021 and haven't opened up since. The 3050 and 3080 12gb SKUs are new, so some of those SKUs were briefly available for queue registration. Currently only the 3553 remains open.

Sorry if this gets asked a lot. I read about the new queue system, but was just wondering if there's any anecdotal information on how much your "EVGA Score" matters? It looks like from the latest spreadsheet that someone with a later queue join time than me got their notification for the RTX 3050 XC BLACK GAMING already. Was just wondering when I could expect mine, assuming my EVGA Score is 0.

There is no way of knowing for the Queue 3.0 queues. EVGA Score matters a lot. Your registration timestamp is used only as a tiebreaker against others with a similar EVGA Score.

Thanks again enewt. I clicked "Auto Notify" on the 3050. Beggars can't be choosers. And good luck kyledawg92. It seems an odd thing that forum participation increases our EVGA score. But if that's what it takes, then that's what we'll do. I expect the signal to noise ratio in the forums will worsen as a direct result of a policy like that, but that is EVGA's call, not ours.

Forum participation does not increase your score, per se. However, if somebody awards you a "Blue Ribbon" for helping them out through the forums, that can get you a few points added to your score. But a pure post count or other such "participation" doesn't add anything to your EVGA Score.

It's best to focus on getting as early a time stamp as possible for Q 3.0 Be elite and keep up with evga and Jacob Freeman Twitter accounts for new releases and such The score places you in a bracket, comparable to Drag racing If you have not gotten a card through EVGA queue systems over the course of the 30 series mess then you have priority over some who has purchased through the Q within your bracket Hope this helps everyone

Tossed in for the 3050 notify. At this point, anything will be better than the 660ti, and the 3050 is a decent enough increase over even the old 970 that failed. Fingers crossed. Not sure what else to do, so long as the 3755 remains stuck in December. I signed up for that queue in March, so it feels super close.

There is no score requirement to join a queue. You just need to wait for one to open up - either a fulfilled queue to reopen or a new product to launch. You can absolutely join a queue with an EVGA score of 0.

lciarlo personal opinion, even as there is more stock and cards are more available, i dont think prices are going to go down much if at all. and i really dont think the 4000 series is gonna be cheaper or near the same price as the 3000 series you can probably put a 9700k or a 9900k in that mobo, that would way better than what u have now
Thanks for the response, I was looking at you need an Intel 1151 Series 300 MB and I can't see anywhere where the 270 would work for those i9's. Limited to the i7's. So I'm stuck at the 7700K.

staypuft Pretty much this. It's still a good CPU, but you will not realize the full 3080 performance in all scenarios. Really depends on your target games and planned gaming resolution, as stated above. Most important point to make here, what is your PSU model/spec?
It's an eVGA SuperNova 1000 Series, G3. It should have the oomph needed. I'm thinking I'm going to pass. Looking at the dB's on the three fan solution I guess I'll see if they hit me on the hybrid I am also still in a Queue for. Then just really do some reconstruction in my case to make the room that the newer dual fan hybrid requires. Or at least think about it more. A year+ ago when I signed up for the queue, I would have jumped at the chance, now I'm like... *wince*. I'd really like to see ray tracing and pretty visuals though! It may be time to go through all the systems I have gathering dust and sell the various components piecemeal and see how much of a budget I can amass for more new parts. Being married and having a wife who doesn't get 'PC Gaming' makes it hard to spend money. I have a 'technology' savings account I put $20 bucks a paycheck into but splurged on a new phone when my prior phone went tits up. So, I think my decision is made, someone else is going to get my 3897-KL. Maybe I'll win the most recent social media contest and get me a Z690 starter kit! wn.nr/pW5xm4 Gimme some love please?
