Celeras I've never heard of igors lab, so no idea how reputable they are... but I'd definitely take all the stuff with a gigantic grain of salt.
Hello Celeras, the other day you received an eVGA email for the 3080 gaming @ 11:00AM If you don't mind me asking did you end up getting it?

enewt I wouldn't be surprised if the entire EVGA staff is watching the AMD presentation right now. I would expect it to be delayed into the 10 or even 11 am PT hour. Good luck everybody!
I'm not very technical and knowledgeable on the subject but how does their new card compares so far to a 3080?

lol, looks like they have some interesting tricks implemented to compete with Ampere. I would like to see 3rd party test.

Looks to be a paper launch, I'm not aware of anyone receiving cards to review yet, unless there's some super strong NDA where they can't even say they've got the card.

AMD announced a gpu that is basically even with the 3090 for 999, lol. RIP 3090. And some weird CPU to GPU performance boost thing. Well, I'm pretty sure a ton of people will shift to AMD cards now, and the date is ~3 weeks away, so things should seriously improve in November. Fingers crossed the queue clears morning of the 17th before then... I'd like the GPU for the new Yakuza game, lol.

The 6900XT will be competitive at a $999 price point. Delaying the launch into December is likely due to wanting to avoid the "paper launch" claims that NVIDIA suffered. The 6800XT is likely the sweet spot for AMD and will generate a lot of interest. It comes Nov 18. All of this at lower power consumption. The remaining issue will be the AMD drivers and whether they have been optimized and polished (i.e., materially bug free). I think all three of the GPUs AMD offered will sell out and there will be supply issues. Final thought: the AMD cpu + AMD gpu combination and purported increase in performance seemed to be more marketing spin than anything. They were very nuanced in how they discussed it. "Rage Mode" (instant OC mode) provides performance increase but they did not specify a specific percentage increase when you pair the AMD 5XXX CPU and AMD 6X00XT GPU together. Not that I expected specifics on that front, but it remains an open question. TLDR; the battle has been joined. And at lower power consumption. Launch is is late Nov and early Dec. Let's see what third party benchmarks come in.

That top tier card isn't out until early December. I believe it is 16GB memory, and not quite a 3090 beater, but looks more like it will compete directly with whatever 3080 Super/Ti card that NVidia may have in the works..

For me, if the benchmarks hold up, it's going to come down to whomever can put a card in my hands first. I want a 3080 FTW3 Ultra but I'm already looking at paying just over $800 for that. I'd be willing to spend a couple hundred more for better performance and the ability to actually buy a card.

I am curious -- how many folks in this thread are swayed by the AMD gpu announcement? I am firmly NVIDIA (due to driver issues among other things) and will be watching the AMD news...but from the NVIDIA hill beyond the fence.

AMD dropped a bomb. Time for Nvidia to react with stocks. I for one after sporting an AMD card for last 7 years was finally about to jump to team Green, but if am not able to get hands on a 3070 before RX6800 hits the shelf, I might remain team red

For current games...very few require more than 10GB (assuming you are not streaming your game, etc.). A few games (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 being one) do better with more than 10GB GPU memory.

I've considered it, but I doubt AMD will be any more available than Nvidia cards have been. I'll just keep my spot in line.

For me, if there is stock available 8 December for the 6900XT, and I still dont have a 3080 in my machine, I am going to probably have to jump. I dont think the 6800XT is going to be worth it to me, but real world specs might influence that...
